I had a bit of difficulty finding the building, but that is not really relevant to the quality of the massage itself. Manita listens for feedback regarding the amount of pressure she is applying while she works. I suggest the 90 min session to get the most from it too. I went to see her for some lower back pain. Not only did she give me relief from it, but she identified other areas that I need to have worked out n. Overall, I am very happy to have come across Manita's practice and will continue to see her to get my body feeling better.

She was very efficient and focused with the hour long massage that I had scheduled with her. Prior to seeing Amy, I had lower back and sciatic pain for about 4 years. I had been through physical therapy and to numerous chiropractors, sometimes going 3 times a week to help with the pain. I had also tried other therapeutic massages but nothing seemed to target the underlying issue. Amy knew instantly what the culprit was. She used that knowledge to deliver a holistic massage. The morning following the massage, I woke up for the first time in years without a shooting pain down my leg. If you're looking to truly heal, I highly recommend seeing Amy.She is knowledgeable, professional, and will take good care of you.

I had a Feldenkrais lesson from Rachel while she was still in training, but even then, she was…read moreprofessional, pleasant, and effective. My lesson was for a shoulder that was sore from a couple of years-old bout of calcific tendonitis that still causes me pain from time to time, and makes the shoulder and surrounding area prone to knots and other distress. Rachel started by having me walk around to observe the natural movement of my arms, then had me lay on my side, and began working on my healthy shoulder, explaining that the connection between the two sides of the body means that moving the one that is unimpaired makes it easier for the brain to accept the new ways of moving on the other side. Then she moved on to the other side, and finished by having me walk again, and showing me in the mirror the difference in how relaxed and lower the placement of my shoulders were, particularly on the injured side. The difference that was startling, because I wasn't doing it on purpose, and it was visibly and significantly lower on the injured side. All her manipulations were extremely gentle, even more gentle than the physical therapy I had originally done at the time of injury. Rather than forcibly moving or massaging, it is more of a guide for how to move, in slow, repetitive motions. It was very relaxing.

My friend gifted me a Feldenkrais session with Rachel. I am a Nia instructor, and I was…read moreparticularly curious about Feldenkrais because it is one of the 9 movement forms infused into Nia. I figured that through a session I'd get a taste of it and learn something new about the body. Rachel's session completely exceeded my expectations. I've had many forms of body work and I can't remember a time when I felt such a drastic change in my body so quickly. She started by asking me about my trouble spots, and we decided to work on the alignment of my legs and feet, particularly while walking. I have piriformis tightness which irritates my sciatic nerve, and the natural turnout of my leg makes this muscle tighter, causing greater sciatic nerve irritation. Rachel first had me walk naturally around the room, and then spent most of the session introducing little movements and adjustments to my body. The movements were very gentle. As she worked, Rachel clearly explained what she was doing and encouraged me to ask any questions I had. After she finished the adjustments, Rachel had me walk around the room one more time, giving no instruction on "how" I should walk. I sensed more ease and grounding as I walked, and when I looked down at my feet, they were parallel (my feet almost always turn out when I walk). I didn't feel like I was forcing them in a parallel position at all. In fact, Rachel had me try out my typical walk, and it didn't feel natural anymore! Without pushing or forcing, Rachel introduce a new movement pattern and more ease into my body. As a final test, I sat on the floor in a straddle (my feet completely flop to the sides whenever I am in this position). I was amazed that my heels now made total contact with the floor and my feet pointed up instead of out. Again, Rachel had me try my typical position with my legs turned out, and my body told me it did not want to do that anymore! I was and am so amazed that after just an hour, movement patterns that I had since I was a kid were altered. It's been over a week since Rachel's session, and the new patterns have stayed put. I also feel like I have the tools and awareness now to maintain what I have learned. If you have any sort of chronic pain or are just looking for more awareness of your body, I strongly recommend paying Rachel a visit. You will not be disappointed.

I didn't really know what to expect before the process (although she did send multiple handouts), and had a little trouble with preparing for the process. Nickole immediately put me at ease and helped shift me away from my all or nothing thinking. My package consisted of consultation, a two person abhayanga,, swedana, shirodara, and a different additional treatment each day. Nickole was brilliant with recommending individualized treatments based on what she sensed and what I expressed. When I was there, she always made me feel safe, comfortable, and accepted. She mostly gave the right amount of communication, and did not talk too much during treatments. She was flexible and accommodating. Also, she dropped so many gems of knowledge on me! Not only is she well organized with her processes, she is a gifted healer. So much stagnant energy moved through me, which helped me arrive at multiple breakthroughs. The environment is compact, but clean. She has a plethora of healing tools and medicines to choose from. She seems fair in her pricing. She is available by phone and email if there are questions related to scheduling or treatments. I plan to make this a regular affair! It was such a beautiful process from start to finish.

At the beginning of this year, I signed up for a vision manifestation workshop put on by Yarah…read moreSutra (yes that is her real name!), a healer, priestess, and expert facilitator, based in Seattle, WA. It was a transformative, multi-sensory, and emotional experience that transitioned me, the participant, through a multitude of experiences and activities, from meditation, to work sheeting, to soul cleansing dance, and finally to the creation of a vision board as a physical artifact to represent the experience and the future manifestation of my desires. Over the past 11 years, as I have dove further into researching the power of the subconscious mind (psychology) and how our brain influences motivation and emotional control (neuroscience), I have quickly realized that more people in the world would benefit from this sort of experience where personal strategic planning meets psychological transformation. Many people want to better connect with their desires, achieve more happiness and success, and gain more self awareness, and I believe this type of workshop is a great way to kick off a change in your life. In particular, women tend to display particular self limiting beliefs (stemming from our patriarchal culture) that can result in us holding back from truly chasing our desires and dreams. What's really cool about Yarah's methods are the strong connection to human cultural traditions that have been in place for thousands of years: dance, drums, and meditation. She takes these elements and adds in process driven writing and visioning to add the right amount of structure and organization to complete the workshop experience. As someone who also works with people to build an immersive visioning workshop, I know the importance of compelling imagery and a moving experience to stir deep motivation and clarity not only within the rational brain, but also within the emotional brain. I have a couple of pictures from the event here, as well as my vision board itself. Every time I see this beautiful work of art, created by yours truly, it reignites a sense of clarity and intention around what I want to achieve this year. I can't recommend Yarah highly enough as a facilitator and guide for this type of experience. He balanced that with long periods of just the light music so I could really get deep. He is strong but also sensitive to your body's reactions and needs, so I found his touch very therapeutic and appropriate to my particular needs. I can tell he's quite intuitive.
