We've eaten at Jamie's in Manchester a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm surprised that I've not got round to reviewing this place yet having visited Filmore & Union…read more in late Summer 2017, it is located in York Train Station. Filmore & Union is basically a gluten-free bakery, a small chain with a few stores, mainly in the Yorkshire area. I called here by chance having to change at York Station on my way home from Newcastle Upon Tyne, with maintenance works going on at Victoria Station hence meaning I had to change, and I was delighted to find a totally gluten-free bakery. There didn't seem to be a large amount of seating but the overall range of food was decent, I ordered a toasted peri-chicken wrap and also had a rose and pistachio cake, the premier was above average and did taste okay, albeit it wasn't something you could just eat and it was quite messy and required a knife and fork which isn't great considering this is supposed to be "to go" food, another issue was the fact it stuck to the paper so easily, and perhaps using some better paper in the future would be better as this was a huge issue. I ordered a rose and pistachio cake, having previously been aware of the combination of the two flavours from when Starbucks did a Limited Edition Pistachio and Rose Mocha just over a year ago, I didn't really enjoy the cake, it tasted a little dry. This is only a small stand in York Station, and is rather similar to another gluten-free bakery I visited which is a stand inside a department store, called Beyond Bread inside Selfridges and London, they both sell similar products of a similar quality in a similar nature (a stand inside somewhere), away from the comparisons this branch is OK, and is great for getting some food while in the train station (albeit at slightly higher pricing but this is normal for me as it is gluten-free food which is often more expensive). Due to the quality of all food struggling to reach much higher than the satisfactory / good mark, and slight issues with the pricing and the fact this place could be hard to find incase you are not using the platform, I feel it only deserves a three-star rating but this branch did impress me enough to add a larger, stand-alone branch onto my "to go to" list next-time I'm in the area.

I bought a dark chocolate brownie here a couple days weeks ago when changing trains at York. I've…read morejust bought an orange brownie here whilst waiting for my train back to London. I highly recommend both of these, as well as the coffee.

We had dinner tonight and had such a good experience that I felt compelled to come back here and…read moretell others. This place is so easy to overlook that despite knowing it existing even I walked right past it (it was a weekday night in the off-season so everyone was upstairs), but there's a decent sign for the narrow spot in the Shambles. This place truly feels like a tiny restaurant you might stumble upon in a small town in Italy. The wait staff is so friendly that you feel as if you're in their home and speak to you just as frankly. I was impressed to hear the waiter recommend the house wine to someone at a nearby table asking over anything on their wine list because of how uncommon primitivos are there and that it's a hardy wine. I had a glass of it and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the food was excellent (as authentic as I've tasted in a while) and very reasonably priced (though we only had starters and pasta) - even the free bread was surprisingly good and very useful in sopping up sauces later in the meal. Keeping in mind that it's a small place and you may be in for a wait if you don't book ahead, I can't imagine it disappointing someone looking for a real Italian experience in York.

Whilst looking for restaurants I could think of to review I was astounded to find that no one had…read morereviewed this place. This has to be one of the best Italian restaurants I have visited outside of Italy. Gianni who runs the place is very friendly and remembered me after my first visit, when I went in again 3 months or so later. It is VERY small so booking is essential I would say (and even then you may have to wait a little when you arrive) but it is perfectly formed, very cosy, warm & with an authentic trattoria feel. The steaks are great as are the house specials but do not go here looking for pizza, the kitchen is too small to make them apparently. The desserts too are out of this world, Toscanella being my fave - which is like a profiterole pie - mm mmm mmmmm!
