My husband and I have been to another counselor and that didn't work because she was overwhelmed by how insane we were. So we didn't get much out of that experience and were disappointed. In fact, we hated to go to our appointments with her because she let things escalate and we always left feeling worse, half the times, not even talking to each other on the way home. She was very sweet but sweet doesn't do the trick. We wanted a tough counselor who was very caring at the same time.
We were more than thrilled to find Jamie and it felt so much safer to discuss our relationship with him. What I like.
-He knows what he's talking about and is quick to read the situation, your feelings about things. And once in awhile if I didn't agree with him (maybe not at the time) he doesn't try to convince me but rather understand where I'm coming from.
-He is very caring and loves his work, you can tell.
-He is organized and remembers everything you tell him and references it in later sessions to help clarify things.
-He doesn't let things escalate and out of control with the anger, blaming, childish behavior that can go on between people when they are mad...because it doesn't get us anywhere.
-He's not afraid to point out things that we may not want to hear about ourselves.
Everytime I hear of a friend in need I always, always reconmend Jamie because I truly believe that people don't focus enough on being introspective and learning to communicate better and I want them to have the same skills I learned. Not saying it's easy, it takes time just like any other skill but so very important for relationships with other people and with yourself. I can say with confidence that I am a better and happier person through hard work and with the guidance of Jamie. I'm very grateful for the help I got. read more
