    Levi headquarters is next door

Very lovely green and flowery area! Great views of downtown as the backdrop. I enjoy walking my dog through this park and resting on the benches. A word to the wise: keep your dog on a leash. I learned this the hard way when I thought it would be fun to play fetch with him on one of the grassy knolls. A security guard came out of nowhere and politely told me that dogs must be on leashes. Fair enough.

Little outdoor spaces like this make me want to work in a large city like S.F. Well maintained park with seating. A little oasis in a busy city.

Fun fact: I used to live in San Francisco and passed by this place from time to time, but never really had a chance to explore it. To be fair I lived in a different part of the city so I didn't come by super often. So when my coworker suggested Levi's Plaza as a place to get together for an outdoor white boarding session given the pandemic and the fact that we're all working from home, I was excited to see what it was like. This is not a huge park, but it is a very cute one. In the middle of the day on a Thursday, it was not crowded at all and very easy to keep a distance from other people. It was clean and I also was pleasantly surprised by the adorable attention to detail around the park. For example a beautiful fountain, a circular patch of grass sitting in the middle of a small creek. Overall it was delightful. The only difficult thing was it there was no bathroom and we were there for a while and a hot day. It's a very relaxing place. Very zen like with the trees, the water, and the rocks around. Mmm...I love coming here on a beautiful day with a slight breeze. I'm not sure about the uptight security as some of the Yelpers have mentioned. The times I come here are pretty quiet. I guess I usually come during non-business hours. Regardless, I wish I worked around this area, so I could enjoy the scenery more.

If I left my heart in San Francisco, this little gem of a park would be the place. Is your sad little heart broken? Yeah, haul it over here. Is your pale-ass heart needin' some sun? Bring it and a blanket. Crazy little kid hearts need a minute to run? Done! (Then please get out so it doesn't get too crazy.) * tucked away just enough that it's not crowded * a little water falling * a little bird preening * a little branch swinging * views of, one of my faves, the Transamerica Tower * nice green open space in the sun * flat stones for sitting in the shade * yes, named for Levi Strauss HQ All-around, a nice little spot to catch your breath, have a snack, tap a nap. I was the only one here save for a couple of sunbathers on my first visit. The weekend finds me enjoying the presence of what I'd guess were two locals having an intimate chat on a bench. One family with young kids arrives for a few minutes to run in the grass as another family leaves. Butterflies flicker in the bushes and dragonflies dip in the water. I sit under the tree. I'm not a local but I'm not in tourist mode. It's probably not on any tourist's "must see" list, so I really like it and you can feel that the energy here is more serene and calming. Sometimes, a heart needs just that. Oh!! And a happy dog heart busts over a verdant knoll. You knoll it. Even doggies leave their hearts here.

It's a pretty park.... But they kicked us all out today!! Granted, "us" consisted of a couple hundred people not wearing pants due to the annual SF No Pants Subway Ride event....but still! I'm cross. Heheh. Security guard: "What are you guys protesting, anyway?" Me: "Pants."

I can do without the corporate branding and the ads on what looks like a neighborhood-information kiosk, but the park is too much of a gem to be dinging for pre-afterthoughts. It's beautiful and well maintained and inviting and hidden and welcoming and meandering and shady and sunny and inspiring and quieting. I'm really glad the tourists haven't taken it over, and I'd like to see what it's like during lunch hour on a weekday. There are views in all directions, but the one of Coit Tower is perfect. There is still so much of our city to love. I guess that's why I hate it so much these days. Too many people with too much money are finally picking up on what all of us working-class folks have known for a long time: San Francisco is a beautiful place. Unfortunately, the place will be all that's left of San Francisco very soon unless someone does something about the housing situation. We don't need more housing or more below-market-rate housing; we need AFFORDABLE HOUSING. We also need to stop doing rich people favors. See, here's the funny thing about the rich: They only return the favors of other rich people.

My sister and I arrived before 8am at the Watershed parking lot and barely found a space. We did the trail that took us to the West Point Inn for the pancake breakfast and round trip was close to 5 miles so it was a great workout. There's gorgeous views and well! On the way back to the 101 however it's a mess. The road on the way down is crowded with parked cars, which makes driving through challenging. That's the only thing about this park, other than that I'd love to come back in spring when everything is green and vibrant!

Ever since then, I've wanted to hike this peak, today I have achieved my wish. Early June with mild coastal temp, 50s-60s. Started up Matt Davis Trail in the foggy forest, to Pantoll Campground, to West Point Inn where we can look down to the top of the fog layer, to the Fire Lookout building at the Peak. Then we came down reverse but split off to Steep Ravine and Dip Sea trail after the campground. I've also always wanted to climb that ladder. This hike provided views of the Pacific ocean on the West as well as views of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on the East side. I thoroughly enjoyed the cool lush forest, but actually my favorite section was the single track along the slope of the open area after the Mt Tam State Park sign.

Let's also close down the streets from cars one day a week in the Summer so people can ride their bikes, skate, rollerblade, play and dance in the streets! How about on some warm weekend days we put huge concerts there that fill the grass for as far as the eye can see so people can bring all their friends to enjoy food, drinks, and music together. And the lake... let's make it so people can rent boats, and if they don't or can't row, they can peddle so they, too, can enjoy the waterfall and life on the lake! Let's also have beautiful statues around the park, definitely a Shakespeare Garden, and let's throw in something for garden lovers, like a Botanical Garden (a big one) and a Conservatory of Flowers. For more culture, let's add a Japanese Tea Garden with more lakes and flowers, and even a bridge in the shape of a circle. Let's also make this accessible to everyone, so some days, the museums are free (ie, usually once a month). And some entrance fees are lower for locals. (Check the websites.) We really enjoy coming to Lafayette Park Playground this morning for an early Easter egg hunting…read moreevent--it's quite unique compared to other playgrounds in the city. The layout is more challenging and perfect for little explorers who love to climb, balance, and stay active. My 3-year-old always finds something new to do, and it keeps them engaged for a long time. I also appreciate that babies aren't left out--there are designated areas where younger kids can safely play too. The restroom is conveniently located and clean, which is a big plus for families. That said, some of the rocky edges can be a bit risky for adventurous kids, so it's definitely a place where you'll want to keep a close eye on them at all times. The only downside is parking--it can be pretty tough to find a spot, especially during busy times. Overall, it's a fun and exciting playground that's great for kids of different ages, as long as you're prepared for a bit of supervision and a parking hunt!
