But even though it's pint-sized, there are still lots of great things all around. The bakery, especially, has lots of delicious-looking goodies. The meat section is tiny but tidy. The one section that seems abundant is the wine and liquor section. I saw some nice bottles of red wine. When I walked by the shelf-stable alternative milk, I was a little shocked to see so many varieties. Walnut milk, cashew milk, pistachio milk, sunflower milk, oat milk and even banana milk! That's not even all of them, either. This is the place to get your milks. It's nice to have a Market District in Westfield so close to Grand Park. This area felt like something was missing, and it was definitely a grocery store.

Mecca is located in an old strip mall just off route 40. The grocery store is packed with food for Middle East cuisine. I pick up ingredients that I can't find elsewhere for stuffed grape leaves and other Greek dishes. I find specialty oils and cheeses for cooking. The prices are good. They also offer a limited assortment of fresh Middle Eastern pastries and cookies which I have not tried. The staff is always super friendly and will help you located items. The store is never crowded and there is plenty of parking.

All of a sudden I see a lady on her phone and a man walking around the store. Mind you they are speaking a different language and I can not understand what they are speaking about. It seemed like they knew eachother but weren't shopping together. The lady was on the phone until she checked out. I was behind her and the man cut me in line and started to talk to from cashier. The lady walks out the store. Then the man walks out the story shortly after talking to the cashier. I check out and everything is fine. Once I start walking back to my car I see the lady in her tan mini van looking at me the whole time. I get in my car and she continues to stare at me as if she as trying to look through ( my windows are tinted very dark). Ofc I lock my doors immediately getting into my car and after a couple of minutes she drives away. Then I start to back out of my parking spot and notice the guy who was in the store starts to back out... very slowly. So I wait for him to go first but he was going so slow I backed up and headed out. Then he followed. At first I just thought he was going home and was his normal route. At the stop light he pulled up beside me and pulled down his windows. At the point I knew I was fucked. I acted as if I was going straight and last minute turned around. He quickly turned around and tried to get into a neighborhood I made seem I was going into. Then I zoomed far away. This man was driving a beatup/dirty black Mercedes with a sunroof. I stopped taking that route until one morning my phone told me to take a different route to work to avoid traffic. Passed by the Mecca market and seen the same car, same guy with a long beard growing out walking into the store early in the morning. At that moment I knew I had to post this. Please be careful going here... there is something suspicious about this store. Whether they look at the cameras and are watching young girls come into the store by themselves. I have a feeling I am not the only one who has encountered this. Stay aware of your surroundings and tread carefully. Don't come here alone!!!!!!!!!! So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market. I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

And second, what do you make of a restaurant where the bathroom is dirty, out of soap and paper towels, and looks like it's been out of those things for as long as anyone can remember? Look, it's no dirtier than a lot of similar places -- and the crime of an ill-supplied bathroom is hardly one for which Las Palmas alone is guilty. But think about it: if there's no soap in the bathroom, how often can the cooks be washing their hands? That said, the chicken I had was delicious and the price was right. It came with a generous portion of rice and delicious re-fried beans. The barbacoa looked fabulous. I'll definitely be coming back -- but I might bring my own hand sanitizer!

Today, I found most of what I needed plus a few things I didn't know I needed. I like the quality of the fresh vegetables. They don't carry a lot of vegetables, but the packaged salad mixes are super fresh. The store is neat, well organized with huge cans of vegetables and 20lb sacks of popcorn. I really went to pick up a pork shoulder, which they said they had online. They were out and the clerk told us to call back later in the day to see if additional product arrived in their shipment. I called and they did not get them in. So, gotta go somewhere else. Check out was easy. There's plenty of parking in their private lot.
