I hired this company to trim a large viburnum hedge on my property in Venice. They did a terrible job. Half way through the job, the manager, James Hentman, told me he had to go for a while and do some estimates of other jobs. He asked me to pay him for the job. Like an idiot, I not only paid him in full, but paid him cash -- $750. I thought he would come back at the end of the job to make sure I was happy. Little did I know then that I would not see him again or hear from him again. As soon as the manager left the job site, the two guys who were doing the trimming started bad mouthing him, complaining about how hard they had to work. Bad attitudes. On top of that, they did a terrible job. They cut the hedge top very unevenly -- it looks like a roller coaster. I told them to let me know when they were leaving as I wanted to inspect it with them. They left without telling me. And they left a whole bunch of cut debris in the hedgerow and on the ground. Terrible clean up. The manager also drove his bucket truck on my front lawn to trim my palm trees. He ran over and broke a sprinkler head. Cost me $61 to get it fixed. I texted him to ask for reimbursement. No answer yet. In fact, I have sent him 10 separate texts asking that he come back and discuss this terrible job. He has not responded in five days now nor did he ever come back. He took the cash and ran. He couldn't care less about doing a good job or about customer satisfaction. Poor Quality! Poor Clean Up! Poor Attitude! Took the money and disappeared! They use "Experts" in their company name. Hah!! The only thing they are expert at is ripping people off. I am going to have to pay another company $250 to finish the job. I called for an appointment as one of our palm trees has fizzle top. Erin (with kids screaming in the background) made the appointment for 3 days from my call. On the appointed day I got a call that the rep needed to reschedule as it was raining. Really??? Rescheduled the appointment for the next week. Met with the rep who seemed knowledgeable. He told me that I had two trees that were affected and that they would treat both. One might not survive but one would. He wrote up a ticket with detailed information regarding treatment and the price. He told me that he was the owners father-in-law and that he would be with the crew to make sure all went well. He told me that Erin would call me later that day and since this needed to be done quickly it would be scheduled later in the week. No call. I called on Friday and was told that there next available appointment was 10 days out... I was not happy. Today I recieved a call to confirm that they were coming Tuesday to cut down a palm tree. Huh??? My reply was... WHAT? I am expecting you to come here and treat two trees. Her reply stunned me... "we don't treat trees. We just cut them down." I told her what the rep, her father, had told me and her reply was that they had had a disagreement with him and he no longer works there. Do yourself a favor. Total rip off artists, avoid at all costs! These people were hired to "top trees" in my mother's backyard. They cut nearly every tree up to the property line and left stumps fifteen feet tall and five feet deep of brush on the ground. I heard about it when her neighbors started calling me to complain about the mess and logs and brush on their property as well as hers. Several large logs where left hanging on other tall stumps, hanging by a feather and creating a huge hazard and liability. They then walked my memory impaired 81 year old mother to her bank, and demanded cash (over $4,000). When the teller refused, they filled out a temporary check for her to themselves and had her sign it. Now they want more money to clean up their own mess, although the original invoice says "haul all debris to landfill." They didn't do what they were hired to do correctly, left a total mess and caused tens in thousands of dollars in damage to her property. What was once a nice grove of trees behind her pool that needed some trimming now looks like a hurricane came through. Don't let these rip off artists on your land or near your elderly loved ones. Repeated to the business owner have gone unreturned. My next call is to the District Attorney's office. read more
