So, I was giving the alternative to try jeuveau. I should have known better because of how I was asking the PA questions and she was very skeptical and hesitant with her answers that I should not have done it. But I tried it anyway thinking maybe it could be better. Afterwards, I talked to my sister who stated that it sounded really weird that Botox, of all things, would be on "backorder" and that she felt that I was pretty much bamboozled by them trying to push a new product because of the almighty dollar. As soon as she said it, I felt the same!! I was also told this was going to work faster than even the Botox. And it has done absolutely nothing!! I was able to see results within hours from Botox but not with this stuff. Nothing!! I don't suggest it. I'm 50 and only do Botox for the crease between my eyes. So, I have lost out on $165 for something that was suggested by the PA with her not even really knowing the effects of it because she even said she hasn't used it and that one's on me. Lesson learned. 3 stars bc I seriously feel now that I was nothing but a simple sale and now I'm stuck for 3 months of not being able to actually get Botox. Needless to say, the crease between my eyes seems to be more pissed off at this point. Maria, medical assistant, is awesomeness though!!! So 5 STARS for her!!! But then again, she had to know there was no Botox too.... Hmmmm.

I had actually gone to a different dermatologist and had been told some things that I didn't think sounded right and wanted a 2nd opinion. This office scheduled me to be seen the same week! I went in and saw their NP and she was so kind and caring. I have never had problems with my scalp before and I was scared that something serious was wrong because I have had a type of cancer on my eyelid before that I had to have removed and had to have reconstructive surgery. She settled me down and said that she believed I had psoriasis. She prescribed an oral medication and an oral medication to help with the itching. She also prescribed a shampoo and something to leave on my scalp. I am scheduled to return next week and I am so relieved that I trusted my instincts and scheduled a 2nd opinion with this office. The other dermatologist office told me that I needed a biopsy to find out if I had psoriasis and this medical provider said I did not need one for her to know that I had this condition and that she would start me on medications and if they didn't work, we would look at stronger medications when I came back. She put me at ease and settled me down because I was so frustrated and scared and had been dealing with this for over a month before I went to the dermatologist. This is a friendly, clean office and the staff is quite busy but seem to care about their patients. Schedule with them because you will be pleased!

I scheduled an appointment because I had two medical concerns I wanted to discuss with the physician. The physician was running behind schedule, and before I was able to discuss my concerns, I was informed by a member of the office staff that I would be permitted to address only one medical issue during the visit and that this concern was allowed only 15 minutes. I understand that medical practices have scheduling constraints and that appointments may need to be structured in a particular way. However, I found the way this policy was communicated--and the limitation itself--to be deeply disappointing as a patient. I had made the appointment with the reasonable expectation that I would have an opportunity to discuss my health concerns with the physician and determine what evaluation or treatment might be appropriate. Instead, I felt rushed and discouraged from bringing up an additional legitimate medical concern. I was particularly taken aback because this limitation was communicated after I had already arrived for the appointment. I also was not given a meaningful opportunity to speak freely about my concerns or explain whether they might be related--something that is important when discussing medical issues with a physician. From a patient's perspective, this experience made it appear that the practice prioritizes PROFIT, scheduling efficiency, and maximizing appointments over patient care and communication. Limiting a patient to one issue and approximately 15 minutes, especially without explaining that policy before the appointment, can make it difficult for patients to provide the full context needed for appropriate medical evaluation. I left the office genuinely shocked and disappointed. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and given an appropriate opportunity to communicate their concerns freely. Prior to coming to him, I had gone to two other recommended plastic surgeons in the local CSRA area who both told me after consulting that they didn't feel comfortable touching my case and I turned away! When I had lost all hope Dr. Medina was willing to help me. He defiantly cares about his patients but in the most respectful way was brutally honest with me from the start about was realistically achievable. (Which I appreciated) Setting realistic yet clear expectations based on my unusual condition. He told me it most likely won't t be a homerun, but he could make it better, most likely 3rd base. After a year post op I think he hit a home run! You hear of botched plastic surgery and think that only happens outside the United States. That's just not the case. If you're someone remotely even considering getting any work done, especially to your face! I can't recommend enough to have it done by Dr. Medina.
