Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful. Dont waste your call. When you when injured you want to have mutual respect with your lawyer from day 1. A lawyer from this firm was quite disrespectful towards me over the phone. Rude enough to gain a 0/5 review as well. Shame read more

Was hit by a car in a crosswalk and was told that it's a 50/50 chance of success. But they dropped the case due to beliving a lying cop. Would not recommend this place. They don't know what they are doing if I could give negative stats I would. Trust me find a real lawyer! read more

My father had dealings with this law firm when he was involved in a motor vehicle incident where he was found to be not at fault; the accident was enough to disrupt his life and put him into a very early retirement as he is barely able to walk anymore, even with this as the result the lawyer from James H Brown seemed to speak to my father, and myself, in a condescending manner and was quite rude. The end result was a settlement that didn't even come close to $100k; he is unable to work ever again and this was the "best" they could do.. read more

I highly recommend to anyone who has a personal injury to contact James H. Brown and their incredible lawyers. I was lucky enough to have David Huculak represent me and he treated me with nothing but kindness and respect. He is extremely easy to get in contact with and his incredible assistant Keresha was also available anytime I had a question. David and Keresha's attention to detail was fantastic, and they were able to close and negotiate a fairly complex case in under a year and a half. David was so kind and responsive to me, and he always put my needs first. He provided me and my family with top care programs through Kells Counselling and took care of all of any medical bills which left me able to focus on recovery. I have never seen a lawyer personally care for a client like David did, and he always made me feel like he cared about my well being above anything else. Keresha goes above and beyond the duties of an assistant, and responds quickly to any emails no matter the importance. She is so kind, gentle and truly makes you feel like you are never an inconvenience no matter how often you need to contact her. I had Michael represent me in a motor vehicle accident, an accident which left me in limbo with my insurance company especially since the other driver, who had lost control of their vehicle causing the accident, had the same insurance company. Before seeing him and dealing with the insurance company directly after a short while there were "issues" covering certain needed expenses, paperwork etc, etc, etc... and it was obvious I was being given the run around and that I needed a lawyer. I met with Michael, who extended his work hours for my convenience so that I could see him. He had me see a pain specialist immediately, which finally got the ball rolling in terms of recovery and was excellent, taking my concerns seriously. As for Michael, when emailing him with questions, he got back to me right away and his assistant Janet was excellent and had a very uplifting personality. As far as the settlement went although the final settlement fees were a bit confusing and did include utilizing the settlement amount put aside for expenses along with the actual settlement amount, which I am not entirely in agreement or was sure about, Michael did get back to me and address this immediately and we discussed. I do have to say what was additional was not completely outrageous, and in the end I did get what I think is a fair settlement for my injuries, that I would not have gotten otherwise if I went without representation. I have to say to anyone in an accident, wait to settle until you know what your rights are and have someone represent you as they do more understand the system which loves to take money but when you need them they are sometimes gone. From this experience the insurance company at first seemed good and fair but this did change as the claim progressed. read more

I was in a no fault auto accident in 2014. Initially, I tried dealing with the insurance company but despite my injuries they would not even offer me pain and suffering compensation. My hours off work from the pain, physio and Doctor's appointments started to add up and affect my family. In order to receive any compensation I would have to send the insurance company reports of time off and mileage every single time and then wait to hear back. When it came to extending my physio treatments it was even difficult to work with them for that. Eventually I had enough of dealing with them and being bumped from agent to agent and decided to find a lawyer. Not only was I dealing with the present effects the accident was having on my day to day life but my future as a Carpenter was at stake with the injuries I has sustained. My wife started chatting with a James H Brown associate online named Michael N. Hoosein and from there we simply set up an appointment to meet him. Michael was so helpful and explained the process so there was no confusion. We were no longer having to deal with the insurance company either as he handled all their requests from then on. James H Brown took ownership in some of my medical appointments as well, helping me get a private MRI instead of waiting a year on the waiting list it takes in Canada. He also helped me meet a surgeon at the University of Alberta whom was difficult to get into. I would highly recommend Michael at James H Brown. Without him I know we would not have gotten a settlement from the Insurance Company. He eased our families stress by managing our case and took on the burden of dealing with the difficult Insurance Company. James H. Brown's commitment to seriously injured persons and their families comes from firsthand experience. He knows what it's like to spend a year in a wheelchair and to suffer a life-changing injury in a serious car accident. A rare hip ailment at age 7 left Brown bedridden for a year and confined to a wheelchair for another year. Brown went on to excel in sports and was a member of the 1963 Memorial Cup Champion Edmonton Oil Kings hockey team. His dream of a professional hockey career came to an end when, at age 19, he suffered a broken neck in a head-on collision with a drunk driver. Brown's struggle back to health taught him how much a devastating injury can affect someone's life. When I saw them (and eventually the doors were opened again which was fun), they asked me some very basic details of my situation, and without even getting into the stuff that's causing me trouble, they told me they wouldn't help me. It was pretty frustrating, cos for one, they didn't hear even a quarter of the story, 2, they were rejecting my case despite telling me over the phone that it might be doable (and that was based on more info than I gave them in person), and for 3, they kept explaining their decision in legal terms that I was unfamiliar with, and I had to ask several times before I got enough information to understand what was going on. So yeah, not too impressed. I gave 2 stars because I didn't actually use them, so who knows, maybe they could be okay in some cases. But based on the preliminary meeting, I was frustrated and not impressed at all.

Our initial consult was with Phil Kirman. Phil was very thorough. After talking with one or two other lawyers in the office it was agreed that we could do much better than what our original lawyer was suggesting. For this incident, we ended up dealing mostly with a fellow named Dan K. Mainly because Dan works more closely with insurance related cases. Costs turned out to be similar to what they would have been if we had only used Weir Bowen. The insurance industry has a reputation for not being honest. Phil and Dan were very helpful. Both men are very compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable.

As a small business myself, I couldn't imagine having a lawyer like Fiona Ellinton or even a firm like Duncan Craig looking after my business matters. From the moment we first met with TRENT BROWN and RICK MALLETT, only one day after our initial phone call, were were made to feel at ease and given peace of mind. We were informed that we did indeed have a legitimate claim and were given details as to what would be involved to reach a settlement. Just over 3 years ago, my husband and I were in a car accident that was in no way our fault. We had heard from friends that Jim O'Neil and the other lawyers at James H. Brown were top notch and the best in the city, so of course we decided to go with them! I work in the medical field and these praises came from some of the doctors and colleagues I work with. The process was made so easy for us by our lawyer Jim, and he and his assistant Natasha made sure to notify us of everything and explained anything we had questions about. They were always very easy to reach and personable and friendly both on the phone and in person. After having a pretty serious car accident in 2013, I called around to some of the other injury lawyers in Edmonton and no one had the interest in talking to me. I called James H Brown and the receptionist said I've got just the person that can help you, boy was she right! I met with Michael Hoosein very quickly after our phone conversation,he was very straight forward and so friendly, which is what made me want him to be my lawyer. I would recommend this law firm to anyone with an injury. my lawyer is Kamila and from the time I walk in to her office. she was very professional and very understanding of what I was going through. If she wasn't available when I had a question or concern. I would leave a message and less than 2 hours I got a call back. when I was having problem with an adjuster from the other company. she made stepped in right away and didn't stop until we got a new adjuster. even though my case is ongoing. Can't say enough about Kamila Surkont. She went through having a child and I still didn't feel like I was left out of the loop for a single moment. If you need an injury lawyer, you call and goto James H Brown then you ask for and speak to Kamila.
