Our initial consult was with Phil Kirman. Phil was very thorough. After talking with one or two other lawyers in the office it was agreed that we could do much better than what our original lawyer was suggesting. For this incident, we ended up dealing mostly with a fellow named Dan K. Mainly because Dan works more closely with insurance related cases. Costs turned out to be similar to what they would have been if we had only used Weir Bowen. The insurance industry has a reputation for not being honest. Phil and Dan were very helpful. Both men are very compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable.

Deborah is not…read moremy lawyer but I have retained her colleague Ms Caitlyn Dick to defend me on a couple of very serious criminal charges with our trial starting tomorrow morning actually. I have the utmost confidence in my representation choice and have no doubt in my mind that Ms Dick will defend me well in court. She is great especially if you're not familiar with the process. She actually listens to you and really works with you. Deborah Hatch Law was recommended to me by another fabulous lawyer out of Edmonton, Mr Brian Hurley. I did a lot of research before retaining council and I always said I would never hire a female attorney but here I am with all my faith in Ms Dick. Her fees may be considered high to some but I was willing to pay her any amount she asked for. Lawyers super duper intimidate me (maybe because I use words like "super duper" and they don't) but the woman I met with was fantastic. FANTASTIC. So clear, explained everything to me so thoroughly, and never made me feel like I was stupid. No question was off the table. She totally "got it" that I had never gone through something like this before, so of course I had no idea what was going on. Nicest, smartest, most awesome lawyer lady ever. I have found them to be knowledgeable, thorough and reliable. The response times - especially from James - are actually very impressive when compared with other larger firms I've dealt with. Their charge-out rates are relatively higher than most - but you get what you pay for - and I'm okay with that trade-off. They also host an annual employment law update conference (spring of each year, I believe) which is a good overview/discussion of the latest trends in employment law.
