This is one of those places your friends recommended, and then you recommend them to someone else and so forth. There is a reason that happens here. Quality service. read more

So I've known James for many years from like the 80's. When he first got that job. I have to say that he's one of the best mechanics around. He started out with a few cars and now needs a parking lot lol. The quality is what you call excellence as he is upfront with his explanations. The value is well worth the jobs he does. Me I'd rather give it to a local business than some local companies. So go seek him out for a quote and a job well done. read more

Highly recommend James' Garage. He quoted me a price which was more than reasonable. He gave me a time frame when the repair would be complete...He was true to his word. He will be my first stop if I need a local garage again. read more

Worked me into their schedule when I needed it, and worked well with both my dad and I when I wasn't sure what was going on with my car. Ensured my car was safe and gave reasonable prices for major fixes. Trustworthy employees. read more

Always easy to work with very knowledgeable mechanics, everyone so helpful! They have been very easy to work with and fair prices.

Always has done a good job with reasonable prices. Had a belt replaced 7 months ago that is squealing now, however that is pretty normal for needing to get the belt retightened especially going from Summer to Winter . I've also had a window motor Replaced there and he doesn't Mark up prices really bad and he gets the job done quickly. read more

Friendly staff, knowledgeable and able to trouble shoot problems. Their prices are reasonable and they get the work done in a timely manner.

I called James garage while visiting family from out of town. They worked me into their schedule right away. They diagnosed and fixed my problem in no time. The price was very reasonable. read more

Well I'd like to bring my vehicle in there. I gave him three stars for the work he's done before. The two I didn't give them were based on attitude and not calling me back. I don't do rude so with that in mind I'll find another service. It's too bad because he does good work...Excellent work in-fact. But if their too busy not to be professional or call me back then he's too busy for my business. I have a very busy schedule myself working a full time job and running a business. I have a lot of business too but I'm professional with my customers at the same time. My vehicle was stolen and I got it returned. Now it needs fixed. Not very happy with Snyder either but at least they called me back. We will see if they fix it right. I'm not in a hurry for it either. In the meantime I'll look for a good shop with a professional attitude. read more

James knows what he's doing. His mechanics know what they're doing. They are fair and honest. Not too cheap, not too expensive. Just right. I wouldn't have confidence in a mechanic that didn't charge enough to make a living. Always excellent work, always done quickly. A word to the wise though: there is no waiting room. read more

James charged $30 more than chain brand shop for transmission fluid change. Even more than dealer quote. Greasy hand prints left on hood, scratch on fender. No masks. My family has been going here for years, but no more. They seem to be losing it. read more

Timely, quality work, honesty and integrity. They are always busy for a good reason. Get your work done here. read more

I would never recommend a place like this. WORST PLACE IN ALBANY, DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. I found them online with GREAT reviews, and just needed my heater fixed. I paid $400 to get it fixed and left with a extremely shaky car that would turn off randomly WHILE driving, putting my life and car at risk. I called and got it all fixed, but still not okay. I thought since they fixed it for free I'll go back and get a full inspection, and a oil change. After leaving this second time my cruise control does not work, my seatbelt lights flash and ding all over my car, and my car is over heating within 3 min of driving it. I'm a young girl, and definitely felt like this shop fucked my car up more than fixed it. Do not trust this crooked ass business. They will only destroy your car more only to have you come back. read more

This guy is the best in town. I take all my vehicles to him from my Toyota Prius to my bmw 335i. No matter what he's got it covered. James is a great buy and does honest work. I don't see why anyone would have a problem taking their vehicle to him. read more

Needed my ac serviced. My regular mechanic doesn't do that so they recommended James' Garage. He was a good dude. Got my diagnostic and recharge done the same day. Good service. He went above what I would expect. I have no idea how the prices are compared to others as I didn't check around but for the service I give 5 stars. read more

The temperature control in my car was broken (no hot, no cold air control). Another auto shop in town quoted me twice what I ended up paying at James' Garage. The part was a little difficult to find, but they removed the part and gave it to me so I could order the right replacement. After the part came in it was quick and easy (and affordable)! Laid back and friendly guys. read more

Have taken ALL my vehicles to James Garage for the last several years. Always drive away with confidence and appreciation for this place. The level of knowledge and customer service is UNBEATABLE. If he can't fix it...get a new car. read more

James is the most honest and reliable mechanic I have had the pleasure of doing business with in this state. He currently works on my daughters vehicles and on my Hummer when it needs anything. I can not brag enough about how fast he is or about how reasonable his shop rates are. This is definitely the place to go if you want quality service and great prices. Down to earth people who actually know what they are doing and great prices all from the same place do not happen often in life. Take advantage of this before he retires or something. Thanks again James. read more

This man has the warmest heart and does great work. I will not take my car anywhere else. He is honest and up front and really cares about his customers. Because of this, they are very busy but they do their best to get to you as soon as they can. James is the best!!! read more

My A/C went out on the 1st hottest day of the year which, with compromised health, limits my ability to go anywhere by car. James got me in right away even though he was slammed with work, & was obvious when I pulled up to the shop! He recharged my A/C right away & had me safely & comfortably back on the road in about an hour! I'm so grateful for the help of James Garage! read more

James did a good job diagnosing and repairing our vehivle and had good communication during. Unfortunately the check engine light came on shortly after we picked it up and called to have it just checked out again to see if it was related to the VERY expensive repairs we just paid for. They have been ignoring our calls and have not called us back. Now that the van is having some other not so fun issues we will need to find someone else and we will need to fork over more cash for repairs read more

James's Garage was not able to help with the suspension on my Mercedes however they directed me to the person for the job. I appreciate the honesty I experienced here. read more

Excellent and fast service! I cold called James to inspect a truck I bought. Despite being a new client and being completely booked, James made time to see me that day. He conducted a thorough inspection and walked me through the results in detail. Would highly recommend for any future needs! read more

James Garage was recommended to me by my local neighbors. My truck had a starter issue and it was making odd noises. I called James and he agreed to check things out that very day. So I quickly drove over with a friend and dropped off my truck. James called to update me two hours later with a reasonable quotes. I picked up my truck about an hour later. The price was a third of what two other mechanics quoted. It was done in hours, not days and it runs great! He works on most cars, has years of experience, keeps his prices reasonable and does the work in a timely manner. read more

My vehicle was towed to James' Garage this morning. He was really busy, but took the time to look at my car, give me an estimate and fix it all in the same day! I have used him for 3 years now and I would never go anywhere else. I highly recommend him and his staff! read more

I cant say enough good things about James and his crew. I came in 2 days before I had to take a long road trip, and my car was making a horrendous noise. I called james the night before, and he said I could bring it in when the shop opened so he could take a look. They diagnosed the problem free of charge, and then gave me a quote for labor, and informed me of the bare minimum parts that I would need. My particular problem was a small cover for the timing belt that had worked its way loose, and was striking the belt. They said that I could get by replacing the belt only, but informed that in my car, the belt tensioner was what usually failed, which then would cause the timing belt to fail shortly after. The belt had recently been replaced, however the tensioner was not changed, and neither were the pulleys, so they recommended that I replace it all, since they labor would be almost the same price. For my own piece of mind I decided that I would like to replace it all, and James called his parts supplier and quoted me a price for the parts, at which point I went home while I waited for him to confirm the diagnosis, and let me know if the parts did indeed need to be replaced. While I was home I did some reading to confirm that replacing the tensioner was a good idea, and also found the same parts kit he had recommended, yet 100 dollars cheaper than his supplier, and he had no problem using the parts I supplied. In the end, I got my car in and out the same day, and saved about 300 dollars between parts and labor, and the car performed perfectly for my drive. I initially picked James because my friend had recommended him, and informed me his whole family used him as well, and while I was at work the night prior, I was complaining about my car, and my supervisor also mentioned James' garage. The diagnosis was free, they explained the pros and cons of just replacing the one faulty part, showed me the problem and the old parts, and let me bring my own parts. If youre in need of mechanics who wont pressure you with a bunch of crap you dont need, and who will explain the process and REASONING behind their work and recommendations, this is the place to go. read more

Went there for the first time to check on a used car I was contemplating buying. James asked the owners questions regarding the vehicle and its history and also brought me in to show me areas that would need attention sooner than later as well as other areas that were not immediately needing to be repaired. Gave me prices for parts and labor. Said that was going to be the price and it was. There were no hidden costs or charges. Was brutally honest in his assessment of the car and I felt comfortable and trusted him implicitly. I highly recommend him. Any future issues with any car I have will be dealt with by James' garage. Also got to talk with him. Very honest and hard working man and good to talk to. Can't go wrong here! read more
