He cut me short and told me to see my court appointed lawyer saying "I actually know him he's really good good luck to you "

Only reason I'm giving this place even 1 star is because Shawn Clines other attorney in his office,…read moretook over my case and got it dismissed. I would never recommend Cline to anyone. I don't even know where to start. We went to his office to talk to him about my case, he seemed like he knew what he was doing so we decided to hire him. I was told that I would need to take a paper to the court to continue my case because Cline was out of town. Fine. The court date was continued. There was a period of 2 months between that court date and the next one. I never heard from him. I called, emailed, left messages, nothing. The case was important to my husband and I. Seemed like it wasn't at all to him. Two days before the court date, he called me back and we briefly discussed my case. When we got to court it was a disaster. He had no clue what was going on and when the judge asked him questions he was lost. Embarrassing. The court date was continued again. When leaving he pretty much told me good luck I'll see you next court date. No help or anything. Mind you my husband and I have had to go through a lot of hoops which our particular situation. In between the court dates same thing...nothing. Until finally Clines law partner reaches out. He was the only one who actually communicated with us and helped us. Which is the only reason like I said this place gets a star at all. All and all Cline was not a good choice for us.

I really liked him from the first consultation 3 years ago and saw what he could do in a courtroom. I also liked that he's well-known in the area and may be considered one of the best. His staff is great, helpful, and prompt at returning my messages and relaying my messages to him when he's out of the office! He shows up to court on time each time, is very confident, and got excellent results for me (cases dismissed). I sure shouldn't need him often, but as long as I can afford his fees (which are worth his time, education, and experience) and he's practicing in the area, I will be a client of his.

He…read moreallowed the GAL to set the date, and went several days and did not reach out to me about the new court date. Despite my emailing, texting, and calling. His wife sent a text of the new court date after I had already gotten it from the clerk at the court. Next, he never made the discovery and lied and said he would all the way to a few weeks before the court date. He does not have a real office space. So you have nowhere to see him unless he reserves a space. Every real attorney should have a real office to meet clients in case of emergencies and to review paperwork. He had no real para legal other than his wife, who was attending to a baby, and you could even hear the baby and dog barking in the background. Next, he did not show for my custody hearing and did not call me to tell me it was cancelled. All he did was make broken promises that he could not deliver. Mr. "Let me win the case. Legal malpractice is the bottom line. He lied and said he would subpoena my son as a witness for an in-camera interview. Then his paralegal flips it two days before trial and says they will not because he is too young, they knew his age when they lied and said they would do it. He never got the GAL report before the trial. He sent it in an email and didn't even rebut it to the GAL, nor did he review or explain any of it to me. I might as well have just been pro se all over again. He didn't even get the settlement agreement done from the GAL. He went on vacation and left me to deal with the GAL on my own. I had to hear from the GAL that opposing counsel wasn't accepting the offer. This is a highly contested custody matter. I paid him everything he asked for and still NO RESULTS. His paralegal, Tina Allen, was very rude and put us on a wild goose chase on the day of the trial. She works out of her home, too. When I asked her after sitting in court for 3 hours on May 4th to see if anyone would show up, she snapped at my father and me for holding them accountable. I had to go to the clerk to find out why my case name was no longer on the docket. My case was allowed to be continued to February 2027 by this attorney, and my son's grades and emotional concerns are only getting worse when he is with the other parent. No child should have to suffer at the expense of attorneys getting rich off of people who are desperate to get their child back. If he had drawn up the discovery as quickly as he did the motion to withdraw, maybe he would have done something to get all that money he has charged just for answering emails when he wasn't on vacation for spring break. Nothing was even settled, and he just up and went on spring break. He swapped out paralegals 3 times from October to May 2026 and still NO RESULTS. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!! All this man gave me was a false hope of getting my son back. REBUTTAL****************** You did not have a physical office on October 29, 2025, because I was told to drop the check near Prosperity near the battlefield bridge. You came and picked up the check after I called your wife and told her I was there and did not want to leave my check with the receptionist. She is the one who told me that you don't have an office there. She said that you rent out a conference room. We met at the Riverview Center (757-410-3293). They rent a conference room there. I waited for you to arrive, and you met me in the hallway and took the $5,000 certified check. The website is www.riverviewva.com. It clearly shows that they do podcasting and hold events at this place. This attorney just blew a case that you could have possibly won if you were honest and did not play head games with your client? I took a chance on you, and you have only been out of school for 11 years. I have been a social worker for over 26 years. I never went to George Washington Highway. He still has it on his website. My father went with me to that rented conference room. It was so tight in that little room that if they opened the door, they could hit the back of the chair I sat in. For the record, the supervised visitation was retaliation because I exposed the last GAL for lying when I was prose. Judge Banks said I was not an unfit mother, but still made an example of me by sending me to have supervised visitation anyway. You definitely gave false hope because even after the court date, you said you were going to Richmond. You claim there was a motion being filed by the current GAL, and it wasn't. My son's teacher was there as a witness at my hearing, and she just wasted her time being there. This attorney subpoenaed her to be there, Again the paralegal did not tell me not to go to court on Monday; she said, "she didn't know whether the GAL would be there or not. I have a witness to what was said because I had her on speaker. My father was listening to exactly what she said. My son's Godmother heard it too. *************************

That assistant abruptly quit in January, and since then, nothing has moved forward. We are dealing with a straightforward, uncontested divorce with no minor children and no property to divide -- yet here we are, nearly September, and it's still not finalized. On May 5th, I was told I would "hear something in a couple weeks." Months have passed, and I have received no progress, no updates, and no explanation. This level of delay and lack of communication is completely unacceptable and shows a total disregard for clients' time and circumstances.

They took on a case that every other firm had turned down, with very little to gain, yet they stood unwaveringly for what was right and gave a voice to someone who had none. The care, compassion, and commitment they showed throughout our case far surpassed our family's expectations. I'll admit that before this experience, I didn't fully appreciate the legal profession -- I had the stereotypical "ambulance-chaser" image in mind. But my perspective has completely changed. Good attorneys bring accountability, protect people, and help prevent future harm, and this team embodied all of that. They handled our case with such genuine care that, by the end, it felt like they were part of our family. Their focus was always on honoring our wishes, respecting our privacy, and seeking justice. God bless all who dedicate themselves to protecting the innocent and preventing future harm.
