I spent at least 45 minutes with an attorney talking to me about my specific situation in language I could understand and in a way that helped me sort things out. I honestly believe that if they did not think it was a good idea that they would of told me so. It was just like getting advice from a family member, except Mr. Berkhimer really knew what he was talking about. I gotta admit that I was terrified to meet with an attorney but he just has a special way of explaining things - I know that I'm only a single client to them but I honestly came away knowing they did care. I can't put my finger on it but this guy is different, not pushy, just down to earth and there to help. Can't believe I just said that about an attorney. He tells you right up front that his goal is not to get mine and my husbands business but to help us out of a tough jam and if we wind up retaining them then great, if not, then give them a call if they can ever help out. Mark Smith represented me and he was on top of everything from day one. He gave me sound advice, always returned my calls (he even gave me his cell phone number for weekends), and always kept a good handle on the mounds of paperwork and communication involved. While he was always professional, he was also compassionate given the emotional situation. I've heard so many horror stories from people who went through a divorce never getting called back from their lawyers, or worse, their lawyer not even telling them when to show up for court. Divorce is stressful, and it's rarely straight forward. Having a good lawyer you can depend on makes a huge difference in getting through it with your mind still intact. That's the best way to move on with your life and never look back!
