Professional, responsive, adaptable, and authentic - these are the words that come to mind when I think about our experience with James Carl Photography. When looking for a wedding photographer, it was important to us that we found a photographer who could expertly capture some of the most important moments of our lives, but who is also genuine and personable. That's exactly what we found in Jim and Ellie at James Carl Photography. From the first time we walked into their studio, they were welcoming and easy to get along with. They took the time to get to know us, as individuals and as a couple, and our families. Jim and Ellie went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable (and photographed) one. Without hesitation, Jim and Ellie agreed to travel two hours from Wheeling and spent an entire Saturday capturing our engagement photos at our home, around our neighborhood, and even at our favorite restaurant. Leading up to the wedding, Jim took the time to field several phone calls discussing the type of photographs we wanted and where we wanted to get photographs, scouted the wedding venue a year in advance to see where the light hit in June, and assisted us in choosing where to put our wedding arch so that light would be perfect for photos during the ceremony. On our wedding day, Jim and Ellie were professional and organized. They brought calm to the chaos by keeping us on task, rolling with the punches, and managing a large bridal party with ease. They took time to make adjustments so that each picture was captured perfectly - even a large family photograph with over 30 family members. Their creativity and professionalism resulted in breathtaking photographs. Throughout the entire process, Jim and Ellie were very responsive and were flexible with our schedule as out-of-towners - setting up conference calls and late-night meetings so that we could review our album. Hiring Jim and Ellie to be our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions my wife and I made for our wedding. I could run out of room talking about all the great things I want to say about them and the experience we had. Jim and Ellie not only delivered exceptional photos for our engagement and wedding, but the service they provided is unmatched. Both Jim and Ellie spent hours making sure we got the shots we wanted for our engagement session as well as our wedding. They took the time to get to know us as a couple and made us feel like we were working with friends and made this process go perfectly and extremely enjoyable. Following our wedding, my wife and I have had such busy schedules we finally were able to meet with Jim at their studio to go over our album. We were beyond impressed throughout our whole experience with them, but this was the icing on the cake. Jim took the time to go through our images to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. On top of going through the images for our album, he made note of certain images he knew were very important to us. To me that showed they care more than just to photograph your wedding, but to show they genuinely care about what was important to us and made us the perfect album. The experience we had with Jim and Ellie is one of the best we have ever had. It is rare to find people who are so skilled, readily available, and genuinely care about giving you the perfect experience and product. I joked with my wife that I was bummed out after we left the studio reviewing our album that we won't get to deal with them as often. If anyone is on the fence of who to use as their wedding photographer or going between photographers I can assure you that once you meet with Jim and Ellie you will stop your search. Beyond the general experience I had, I told my wife, Jim and Ellie, I knew we hired the perfect photographers when I looked at every image they showed us and I knew exactly how I felt in each picture in that moment on our wedding day. Jim and Ellie were an absolute pleasure to work with and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer! They photographed our wedding in October 2017 and captured all the important moments (and every other little detail in between) and they did so without interfering in the flow of the day. Their prices were more than fair based on the great amount of time they spent working with us. They were available from the beginning to the end of the day without us having to worry about any limitations on coverage. They spent a lot of time leading up to the event assisting with our timeline, which greatly contributed to everything being so seamless on our wedding day. Our engagement session provided a wonderful opportunity to get more comfortable working with them, which made our wedding day photos even better. We also got an amazing photo that perfectly captured our personalities, which we used as a signature book at our reception.
