Okay, so I'm just going to do this on the fly. So, even though I paid Greg Heritage for his…read moreservices as a criminal defense lawyer I still feel I am indebted to him for his hard work and professionalism towards my case. As a lawyer who was incredibly genuine and optimistic from the get go, my first impression was a good one. I would without a doubt and have referred people to him in all confidence that they would receive the same kind of hard work that I received. I hope my five star rating speaks for itself and also pays more homage to the Heritage Law Firm.

Things you need to know about Evan:…read more -He's extremely responsive and ensures that you can reach him at any time- including after hours and on weekends  -He's well versed in Alaska family law and can give you realistic expectations for your case while also advocating for your best interest.  -He will not let the opposing party, or the judge, bully you into accepting something that isn't fairly in your best interest.  -He's thorough and detail-oriented. He will pay attention to the nuances of your case and won't allow things to fall through the cracks.  Now, my full review: I found Evan in August 2023 after being blindsided by an unexpected custody modification motion that was based on lies and hurtful accusations. I am in Illinois. My originally custody agreement was created in Alaska, albeit my child had never been in Alaska. Her father filed there for dissolution and was willing to give me full custody so the divorce was uncontested and child custody was wrongfully established in the wrong state. Evan responded to the motion to modify with a request to vacate the original custody order entirely- as it was wrongfully established. The judge denied our motion, but Evan was very confident that his ruling was wrong and offered the option of taking my case to the Supreme Court with a Petition for Review (similar to an appeal). After 10 months of fighting endless motions from the other side (all of which were filled with hurtful lies and damaging accusations), and having a hearing at the Supreme Court, my Petition for Review was granted and my original custody order in Alaska was vacated. My custody case is now in Illinois, the rightful jurisdiction. Throughout this entire time, Evan recieved almost weekly emails from me. Many custody disputes occurred between the opposing party and I. Evan responded to me promptly- including addressing emergencies on the weekends AND over the Thanksgiving holiday. He always gave honest advice and was empathetic to my complex and nerve-wracking situation. Although I have absolutely no legal education, when I brought case law or hypotheticals to his attention he willingly listened and provided further insight. He never made me feel as though I was wasting his time.  When Evan spoke to witnesses and professional advocates who work with my child he was courteous, respectful, and took notes of their concerns. He treated my case as if he was fighting for his own child and understood all of the intricacies involved.  He did all of this, while never meeting me in person. I fought this entire case, with his help, from my home in Illinois. We interacted through the phone and email. Even so, as my contract with Evan comes to a close, I can say with full honesty that Evan is the best lawyer I ever could have asked for. He genuinely cares for his clients. The cases he takes on, he puts 110% effort into. He is honest, professional, well-spoken, and extremely educated in Alaska law. In the unfortunate situation that I need an AK lawyer again in the future, Evan is the ONLY person I'll go to. If any of my friends or family in Alaska need a lawyer, Evan is the ONLY person I'd recommend. If anyone reading this review is wondering if they need to give Evan a call- I'll end my review, right now, so you can start dialing his number. In the midst of a heartbreaking family law case, having Evan by your side will be the best choice you make.

I feel one of the most important things to consider about this review is that I am not from…read moreAnchorage, nor do I live in the state of Alaska. I had to handle my case roughly 4,000 miles away and I was nervous to say the least. I don't know many people in Anchorage so it wasn't like I could call around and ask friends if they knew anything about family law and take recommendations for lawyers. During one of the most stressful times in my life, I had to rely on google to lead me in the direction of a solid lawyer. I am so thankful that I didn't choose poorly. I cannot stress enough how happy I am with Evan's services. Truly. I called his office, completely unprepared to speak with a lawyer (because they usually don'y answer their own phones), and I told him all about my case. In the same conversation, he told me it would be complicated and that he couldn't guarantee an outcome (as they all say, but really, the outcome could've went either way), but that he would take the case. He worked for our winning outcome. The documents that he created were quality work that has received plenty of praise since. He is personable, communicates like a real person, and replies in a timely manner. He is a busy person, but you'd think he was only working for you with the way he discusses the case like it's his only priority. His efforts show through his work. Like I said before, the case was complicated. I remember going into the hearing and thinking, "no matter what happens, I'm glad I got to work with Evan because he really cared." We won. But I would give this same review regardless. He is good. More than good. Hire him.

Called to tell her that I drank half a seltzer before going in and she said there's no way I only drank that. She threw all the blame on me and made me feel even worse than I already was. Thank you Leigh Ann for dropping one of my charges but, your response to me in jail was rude and unprofessional. While I was absolutely baffled as to why I was being transferred you acted like I drank more than what I told you and asked if I was stupid. On another note, Liz Cupp is excellent! 2/5 stars While overall helpful with my case and arranging a plea deal the response I got in jail knocked this firm down from 3 stars to 2 stars.

The state was threatening me with 75 years of imprisonment as a maximum penalty and saying that I had confessed to the crimes that I did not commit. After a long legal battle we didnt just win, Steve absolutely wiped the floor with the palmer prosecutors, not only did he reveal how weak their case was but he exposed the Wasilla police department for doing a half ass investigation at best and we embarrassed the state in trial. This man is a legend, he is without a doubt in my mind the best man you can have in your corner if you are dealing with serious legal accusations. Do not hesitate to call Mr. Wells for legal help, you will not find better help in the state of Alaska and I owe this man my life.

After a night of binge drinking, my boyfriend came home to me sleeping and ended up causing a huge domestic disturbance. I ended up getting slapped with 2 charges. I was scared, VERY scared. A family friend recommended Steve after seeing some of his work and knowing was one of the best lawyers in the country (Top 10 Award was awarded I believe). In comparison to other attorneys, his fees may seem steep, but I believed I owed it to myself to fight as much as I could. Steve did a great job translating the judicial process to me, helped me outweigh my decisions, helped make sure I didn't have to miss work too much for court, and helped me attempt to live a normal life in the process. For the most part, I tried not to hound him and let him work... The last day in court is when he really shined. We rolled the dice and he ended up making a deal with the judge that we all were at peace with. The court room was baffled and fellow attorneys and DAs made sure to tell him how remarkable he was that day and congratulated him. It was a pretty cool thing to see... If you, or someone you care about, needs a good lawyer in Anchorage, I would advise them to think long and hard about their choice. You pay for the work you get and personally, I understand how small town Alaska and Anchorage really is. I think it's important to hire someone who had standing relationships with everyone in this court system and a respected attorney in his community. I found that. Good luck!
