After five minutes of navigating the crowded establishment, my wife spotted a beautiful lightweight clay colored (I literally want to wrap my car in this color) Delsey Paris hardside luggage with built in USB charging ports & TSA-approved lock. While looking at it, a friendly employee who I assume was the manager, came over to show us the features of the luggage and confirm that purchasing it was a good decision. Roughly 30 minutes later (they were fairly busy), my wife was walking out of the store with a luggage that she paid $239 for (it was originally listed at $299). On a different note, if anyone in the United States were to ask me for a perfect example of great international customer service, I would refer them to Rayon d' Or. Although the store was busy, all of the staff were attentive to customers and moved with a sense of urgency. If you're in Paris and need to purchase luggage, I highly recommend visiting this store!

That's what I thought until a friend steered me in the direction of perhaps the most bizzarrely named baggage boutique in the world -- Autruche (aka Ostrich). From the outside, this place seemed like just one of those cheap baggage joints with goods that break as soon as they touch the ground, but they actually have a really nice selection of models from brands like Samsonite, Mandarina Duck. Even though they were closing soon the owner was incredibly helpful and attentive, weighing the pros and cons of various models with me. Then out of the blue my very bold friend asked if they could do any better on the bronze-colored, Samsonite 4-wheeler that had caught my eye, and the women said, "sure, I'll knock off 30%!" I was floored. I never do that kind of thing for fear of being flat-out ridiculous but my friend does and sometimes it totally works. Like at Autruche. Amazing!

I came during July 2024 and truly hope that she is still there. I was directed to this location because the specific purse I wanted was unavailable at their Champs-Elysées location. She entertained my request to speak in French and provided me with the exact bag I wanted. I was disappointed though as there were blemishes on the bag and asked if there were possibly other locations that might have it as I knew I would return home unsatisfied if I left with the one in their store. She was so kind that she actually had the duplicate bag delivered to the store from the Printemps in Galeries Lafayette and if that's not quality customer service then I don't know what is!
