Arrived at Jalisco Restaurant, 1701 Hwy 35 N, Rockport, TX 78382 at about 1;00 pm on April 30, 2026. We had been here before and had great service and good food. We thought to give them a try again. Bad Choice! My Wife ordered the Chicken Caldo! Not Good! The chicken looked like it was still somewhat raw, the carrots were not cooked but hard and so was the 1/2 Potato! We had to raise our hands and wave just to get "Wait" Staff attention! We sent it back and she got a "Kids" Chicken Crispy Taco plate ($7.50) with one taco. We had to flag down our Waiter again who appeared to be doing some cleaning behind the Counter. When he took our order there was no greeting no smiles and he appeared not happy that we were there! As a matter of fact all the "Wait" Staff seemed to not want to be there! Bad Vibe! My $3.50 Carne Guisada Taco was very small and was tasteless. It was suppose to come with Lettuce, Tomato and Onion but those three items never showed and neither did our Waiter. We felt lucky to get any service at all. In spite of it all we are always very good "Tippers" and finally got a smile from our Waiter after he realized we had given him a 33% tip. This was our second time there and not a pleasant one. Maybe it's better at night!? We're NOT Going back! We, in Good Conscience, cannot recommend this establishment! My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have over 65 years of Management Experience. I went from picking Cotten, Fruits and Vegetables in many parts of the country, as a Migrant Worker to earning a College Degree with a BS in Business Management. Plus Serving my Country in the Air Force for over 22 years. As a Civilian I have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've successfully managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. I have traveled to many places and tasted the many culinary delicacies this world has to offer! The hosted got us right in and sat down, there was 12 of us. Order was taken somewhat quickly, took a bit for food which is expected for such a large group, we were charged 18% gratuity for large group, but it's really annoying to be charged that when sever never re-filled drinks or checked on us after we got food. He was definitely not worth the tip that we left him because we paid all on one ticket and the tip was on there and we did not notice it was added on ticket and others left money on the table. Tips are not to be handed out freely they are earned, and this man did not earn our tip. The food was presented pretty but lacked flavor, I would not go back. read more

I seriously can't stop thinking about my Spring Break trip in Rockport TX to Jalisco's Restaurant because it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole week. After long days at the beach, going there felt like the perfect way to relax, and the vibe was so welcoming and fun. The food was amazing--so fresh and full of flavor--and the service made it even better because everyone was so kind. I am a touch biased as I eat here more than once a day multiple times per week. have traveled the entire planet. Yes including Antarctica if you're wondering. The most consistent food of Mexican origin in Rockport, Texas is by far their locations. The Food Truck is extra special. My favorite. But the brick and order restaurant is also my favorite hang out. Such an amazing courteous, friendly staff. Along with extremely consistent food, which is the most important thing in the restaurant business I don't need you to be a five star a day and a one star tomorrow I need you to be a four star every day. The last thing we wanted to do before we left Rockport on a trip back home was to eat at a Mexican restaurant. But that's exactly what we did. We usually eat light because traveling is hard enough as it is, having digestive issues just complicate things. Anyway, we ate at this place at the insistence of our hosts. They endorsed and gave the restaurant a full and hearty recommendation so we went. They did not disappoint. Food was heat hot and it was typical Tex-Mex food. The server was probably not the most friendly, in fact I think she'd rather be someplace else than working there that night. She did her job, albeit mechanically. Working is probably not her favorite thing to do, in my opinion. Nevertheless, she did not cook the food (thank goodness) so it was all good. Our hosts indicated that the owners of Jalisco restaurant operate a breakfast food truck called Jalisco breakfast to go. We were able to sample their tacos and they were excellent! Very satisfying and filling breakfast tacos. You can choose from a variety of items listed on their menu. You order it, they cook it and have it for you in a flash! Jalisco has a few things going for it. I called in an order which was promptly and accurately filled. They are open later than most places in Rockport/Aransas Pass. The food was acceptable, but let's not kid ourselves. This isn't the greatest Mexican food you'll find. They don't make their own tortillas, although they were still pretty good. I'd be curious to find out where they do come from. The salsa was bland. The beef fajitas were uninspiring and we should have picked something else. I was glad we didn't wait to use the drive through because at 8pm on a Wednesday night, the line was out of the parking lot. We walked in to pick it up. We stopped in here after they recently reopened from hurricane Harvey. The restaurant looks great, very large, lots of seating. Service was great! The food was just OK for me. Really good food and great customer services! I ordered the jalapeno poppers and was happily surprised to bite into one tasting these were freshly made and not store bought! The cheese enchiladas were good along with the sauce they topped them with, delicious. The hubby ordered steak and shrimp and happily gulped down his meal. We saw locals here, so we decided to give it a chance. Once we walked it, we sat ourselves, and were promptly greeted by the waiter with menus. That was the only prompt thing to the experience though. The food portions are huge! But the flavors are not outstanding. After we finished I had to go to the front to get a to-go container, and then remind them I needed the check. The card sat untouched for over 10 minutes until the waiter returned. Definitely not the "best place in town" as one review said. You'll get nice portions of food, but don't show up expecting a customer service experience like no other. read more

We were in town visiting from Georgetown (TX) and had already had our share of seafood. We were in the mood for Mexican food. We remembered that Jalisco Restaurant is the "sister" restaurant to Mariachis de Jalisco, in Georgetown. The server was attentive and our meal was served quickly. I got the #7 Bistec Ranchero and he got the #11 Plato Texas. Both came with homemade flour and corn tortillas. Both meals were excellent. They don't bring it out, and don't actually ask .. but whatever you do ask for the green sauce. It amazing. It's avocado based and has some pepper and cilantro kick. The food was pretty bad. I had a combo plate of taco, cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. The salsa was terrible the chips tasted really bland. It was not a great experience. Their menu prices also weren't the same as what they charged me either. Our server was MIA for the most part and the only thing decent that I consumed there was the unsweet ice tea. We picked it because it looked pretty busy which is usually a good sign. It cost my daughter and I $40 bucks for two dinner plates. She had a quesadilla plate and I had my combo plate. Went through the drive thru, they had given us the wrong order so they asked for it back. They then gave us two new bags and we got home to find out we were missing a whole plate and they only gave us two silverware sets for 5 meals. They refused to refund us and offered us a "free" plate in which we already paid for. DO NOT GO HERE. No one knows what they are doing. read more
