I originally left a two star review because I thought maybe the place just had an off day. Service was flat, wine was forgettable, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then the owner responded and opened his message with 'Dear fuckface.' That is the actual owner talking to a paying customer on a public review site. Not a random troll, not a drunk guy at the bar, the person in charge. Suddenly the mediocre service and weird vibe make perfect sense. The fish rots from the head, and this head is rotted. So yes, I am changing this to a one star because the owner decided to act like a fragile teenager with a wine license. Instead of reading feedback and fixing anything, he threw a little tantrum in the replies and proved my review was not harsh enough. If you like being insulted by a grown man who thinks calling customers names is clever, this is your spot. If you prefer professionalism, good service, and a place where the owner does not publicly embarrass himself, there are plenty of other options in Palm Springs that deserve your money more than this one. read more

Mark & Ian (proprietors) were on vacation, but their friend Carlos was manning the tasting room and was a fantastic host. We tasted four of their latest releases, including a revisit of our favorite pour. We tried the '23 Grenache Rosé, '23 Pinot Noir, '20 El Capitan red blend (47% Cab Sauv, 30% Mourvèdre, & 23% Syrah), and a '20 Petite Sirah. They age their red wines for 1-2 years in neutral oak barrels, and I would describe their reds as medium bodied and very smooth. Bottles were running in the $37 - $59 range (before 20% club member discounts). As usual, we took home a couple bottles of our favorites. My sister (the bachelorette) wanted to do a wine tasting as part of her bachelorette weekend. As we searched for a wine tasting bar that fit our schedule, we came across Jalama Wines, a boutique wine tasting shop, on Yelp. We starting planning a year ago. Ian and Mark Cargasacchi, the owners, were super responsive and accommodating to our needs. We were able to set up a private wine tasting with 5 tastings (4 wines and 1 revisit). It was about an hour to an hour 15 minutes. Their staff member onsite was so sweet and played Spice Girls for us while we had our tasting. Spice Girls was the theme for the weekend. The storefront was located in a strip outdoor mall. It looked like a mini winery inside. The bar wrapped around the left wall and there were stools around the perimeter. She walked us through each wine and we were provided a cheese platter. The wine is AMAZING! It was not too bitter, or too sweet. We actually felt the wine as the tasting went on. At the end, we had about 30 minutes before our reservation so we bought a bottle to share. Ian and Mark, thank YOU so much for everything! Been wanting to come here since discovering it on while walking around in Palm Springs. Came here on a Friday and the tasting room had plenty of seating but was nearly full on the bar top. The two gentleman which I believe were the owners were super friendly and welcoming. The ambiance in this place was perfect for a palm springs tasting room. The wine was very good. We had a really wonderful wine-tasting experience here. So fortunate to meet both the winemakers/owners - Mark and Ian. We had a really nice time talking to them and the other patrons, some locals and some visitors, but all really friendly. They have farms and vineyards in the Solvang area, but they also source grapes from Los Olivos, which we love. Wine-tasting is $20/person, but free if you purchase 2 bottles, and high-quality wines. We really liked their Refugio GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre) and their Merlot, and got a bottle of each. They had some palate cleansing tasty salty crackers, which were a treat, too. This tasting room is divine, escape the 109 degree August heat in this air conditioned spot with some truly amazing wines. I always like everything Mark and Ian pour, I just like some a bit better than others! The wines are from their vineyard in Lodi. Our all time favorite is the El Capitan (makes my husband feel like he's back on the sailboat!), rich and full of flavor but also smooth. This time we tried their cab and it was also delicious, as are the Syrahs. They tend to have more red wines than white, which I enjoy. Their wine club membership is also a great deal. In my opinion, some of the best wines, and definitely my favorites come from North Santa Barbara County, particularly in the area that this winemaker makes wine from. Their wines are a great representation of this area's wine and it is a pleasure to have this wine represented in our Palm Springs community. We (my bestie and I) were out and about looking for Desert X installations and I thought, why not see if there's a winery around. Well guess what?? Finally there is one!! So we added it to our final destination of the day. We read up on the place before going so knew as little about it and how it came to be. Turns out the wine maker Mark was on vacation and standing in for him was Jim (later called Jimbo). What a super nice guy!! I'm actually writing this review because he was so personable and I wanted to take a moment to compliment him. It was slow when we walked in and he greeted is joyfully. We chose to do two full tastings. Now, I am a member at a few wineries and maybe a bit of a wine snob so I was very interested in learning more about the winery. Jim was full of good information and stories. A personable host is part of the experience. By the time we were leaving the place was full and everyone seemed to be having an enjoyable time. All the wines we tasted we're red which was perfect since I was looking for a steak worthy bottle. As we tried each tasting they seemed to get better. Each bottle price is 45 which seems odd, but Jim explained why that is. I left with two bottles of the same, El Capitan. If I was the wine maker this would be my Reserve Wine, but I'm not haha. The Syrah was nice too and I preferred the 2016 over the 2013 which is unusual for me. I'm a fan of 2013. There was sediment in my tasting of El Capitan, which is okay, but I would probably decanter before drinking the bottle. Great service and decent wines. Thank you! read more

Mark is such a rude person! I just sent a message asking if they were kid friendly. His response, " to be seen but not heard". How rude is that! It's a simple question that could have been answered quickly and with no arrogance. But instead, he decides to be a jerk about it. He was so friendly and we got to talking about traveling, Santa Barbara County, etc. It was nice to know more about the wine through him. My husband and I did a tasting and most of the reds were enjoyable to drink. My favorite was the El Capitan and we got a bottle of it. The mistake I made was drinking it there. Ha! Great wine but it made my later afternoon a blur. The owner is a great host though - he brought out a cheese and crackers plate for us while we sipped the afternoon away. This is one of the great finds in Lompoc. We tried their wine when it came from a wine club, and since have fallen in love with it. The facility, is very crude, nothing more than a warehouse with all the micro equipment for making wine, but the people that work there are absolutely fabulous. Not only were they very knowledgeable, but passionate and even walked my wife through the purpose of everything in the facility. We used to go to this Winemakers place in Lompoc Ca in the wine ghetto every year for the past 4 years. Than on Facebook I found out that he moved to Downtown Palm Springs and opened up a wine bar / tasting room! By Luck we already had plans to be in Palm Springs for the weekend so we came in to see his place. Mark the owner is such a great person he is outgoing and passionate about wine. Plus since he has moved away from the central coast he has pulled out some of his library wines and they are being poured at this location!! If you like red wines he is one of the top winemakers in my opinion in the central coast region so if you live or visiting Palm Springs you must come try his wines.
