With Jessica, upon the first time meeting her, I was comfortable and it was easy! We have consistently talked about musical elements, skills, and technique. We have also started to slowly dissect some new pieces by Chopin, Mozart, and Beethoven. Within a short amount of time, my confidence, because of Jessica's thorough instruction and encouragement, has dramatically increased. I am very proud and excited to have now committed to one year of lessons with Jessica. I know I have much to learn and I completely trust in her knowledge, professionalism, passion, and patience.

We had a very bad experience with Craig Elliott at A&A Music Academy in Hanover Park, IL. After…read moreteaching my child the Ukelele for two months, Mr. Elliott, the music instructor, decided that teaching this instrument to young children was outside of his expertise as a music teacher and thus canceled the rest of our classes for the month, which by the way, had been paid in advance. In addition, there was an incident where he grabbed and yanked my six year old child to try to keep the child from standing up from the child's chair (this we learned later!). The list of incidents goes on. To top things off, during the last class that Craig taught my child, Craig seemed to be be sick and coughing with a cold. As a result. my child contracted RSV after this last lesson with Mr. Ellilott. These are just a few examples of our experience with Craig's lack of professional acumen as a music teacher. First, children should not be grabbed or yanked under any circumstances. Second, it is very unprofessional to not have completed his commitment of teaching after having been paid for the classes in advance. Thirdly, one should not have close contact with anyone while sick! At the very least, Mr. Elliott could have informed us and/or wore a mask to prevent spread of disease. Unfortunately, sharing our story here will not keep you all from experiencing the same at this school with Mr. Elliott. However, if we can save one person from experiencing abuse in the way of poor professionalism that we have experienced, then sharing our bad experience with Mr. Craig Elliott is worthwhile.

I wanted to learn Beatles songs and that is what we work on, with a little Janis Joplin and Louis Armstrong thrown in for good measure. I don't believe you can go wrong taking lessons with Tom. At first we thought that piano or violin might be the what we would start him on, but when our son looked at the various instruments and then heard what the flute sounded like, it was obvious that was going to be his instrument. If you are ever looking for a flute teacher, The New Music School has an amazing instructor in Steve Yepéz. We first met him last year and immediately fell in love with his calm, patient demeanor. Our son immediately took to Mr. Yepéz and has been surprisingly diligent about practicing. And we have already seen what we think may be directly attributable improvements in his school work: an improved sense of focus and better problem solving - traits that the research we had read had suggested might improve with music lesson. Also, the flute played by a six-year old, who is just learning, sounds a lot better than a violin being played badly! I walked in here for the first time on the cold February evening of 2017. As soon, as you walk in you feel like you entered a magical world. The owner, Jane and her husband put a lot of effort into making the school unique; from designs on the walls, to furniture, to mirrors in the bathrooms, the whole place is like an enchanted world. I absolutely love it!!! My teacher, Viktoria, is a phenomenal individual. She truly loves and cares for her students. She goes above and beyond and even types up her own score for different student to make them feel comfortable. When you are with her, you always feel happy, even when you can't play everything right. For the student concert, I picked pieces from Russian movies. Viiktoria put them together for me and we then played together at the concert. Her creativity and desire to make all of her students succeed is one of the many reasons why I love being with her. While Viktoria was away, I had great pleasure of working with the owner Jane. She is very knowledgeable and pays close attention to technique. In just 2 month I was able to play two long concert pieces. Jane does everything by the book but always makes sure that you are enjoying what you are doing. She loves teaching and because of her love for teaching, her students love to learn. She is also a phenomenal piano player herself. I always love when she performs at the student concerts. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is interested in music. It doesn't matter if you are a child or an adult, this school will help you learn music and you will always feel special there. After we received the piano, he tuned it, my daughter has been playing it for the past year and a half and he's come back to tune it again this year. He's a very nice man, his prices are reasonable (about $100 for a tune), and we will continue to use him.

I told him I would like to show him which keys were buzzing on my brand new Kawa Kawai GL10 grand piano I got a month ago and he just told me to show him when he was done performing the first tune up. When he finished I went to check the piano and noticed all the buzzing notes were the same. No improvement. I asked him kindly if he could please adjust this one note in particular that is buzzing very loudly on my brand new Kawai grand and he just dismissed me saying maybe next time as he walked out and left me checking the piano without a care. He just walked out of our home as I was checking the piano. Didn't even give me a few minutes to check out the piano. Never in my 20 years owning pianos and having them tuned two to three times a year did I experience a tuner not give me a chance to check out the piano or even show him or her what's wrong with it. He just walked out without a care after lying in the beginning of the tune up that he would take the time to check my concerns. My wife and I were very disappointed with his attitude and his work. I would never have him come back here. Not even for free.
