I don't like poetry, I really don't like poetry, and I especially don't like "urban" poetry.
Anyway, a local poet/artist named Dita Devi invited me as she usually does on facebook messenger to a poetry "jam". Typically I ignore the messages, but my spirit was perturbed for some reason, so I decided to click it and find out more information.
It turns out they were having a poetry "jam" fundraiser at Jak Mel Gallery for another popular local artist named Ajhanou Uneek who had stage 4 breast cancer.
This really interested me because I blog about natural health, in particular, cures for "so-called" incurable diseases.
The cure for cancer is quite simple, get organic Black seeds(nigella sativa) or the organic cold pressed extracted oil, take a tablespoon twice a day and you'll be cancer free in about 3 months.
So I decided to go and tolerate the poetry "jam", so I could introduce myself to the woman and tell her how to cure herself of cancer.
But what I didn't mention was I love art, I really love art, especially nudes of beautiful women.
When I arrived at this small gallery I was shocked by the masterpieces I was observing. All the paintings and pieces were visually appealing, alive, and communicated sensuality.
Dita(the host)ignored me the whole night, I think she's still mad at me because I told her on the phone that just because she is Indian, doesn't mean she knows everything about India.
The pieces are rooted in Haitian culture, with a superimposition of diasporic African contemporary "perspective".
Luckily they had a break from the torture(poetry), which allowed me to maneuver through the crowd and introduce myself to Ajhanou Uneek. We went outside to the back of the gallery and I had a long conversation with her, her son, and a very attractive blonde lady. I told her everything she needed to know on how to cure cancer.
