Tucked…read moreaway in an old mill, the ceilings are high and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in an abundance of light. Practicing in this studio feels like more of a privilege than a workout. But don't be misled; these classes are no joke. As an avid practicer of yoga, I leave each class dripping wet and feeling as though I truly worked every fiber of my body. Heads up: These classes are not for the faint of heart. Though I have brought beginners as guests, they have all found it to be too warm and too difficult. For me, however, this studio is perfection. The teachers are supportive and welcoming and all are masters of their craft. The owners, Annie and Kim, have built a wonderful, luxurious business and welcome all who enter. To top it off, as an educator, I was touched by their offer of unlimited classes for teachers this past summer at a very reasonable price of $200.

I've been to the West Hartford location of The Yoga Shop studios but this was my first time at this…read morelocation in Glastonbury and it was a step up from WeHa in my opinion. I believe this is one of the newer locations as well. The studio is gorgeous. Well decorated and they gave big windows that let in a lot of light. Their lobby area is spacious and has cubbies, changing rooms and bathrooms. They have complimentary tea and cookies that are delicious as well. I took the LivFree power UP class on Saturday morning. It's one of the longer classes at 90 minutes but the last 30 minutes of class ended up being more stretching/cool down. It's your typical vinyasa type yoga flows in a heated room. What I liked about this location over West Hartford was that the space didn't feel crowded at all. The room was really big and even though there were probably around 30 people in class, we all had more than enough room. All in all, a good yoga studio with some classic yoga classes. Definitely worth a try. And your first visit to any Yoga Shop location is free! Note: this location doesn't have a drinking fountain so you'll either need to bring your own water, get it from the tap or buy some.

The barre classes can be intense, but the instructors always make a point to say listen to your body. If you need to stop, just take a break and go back into it when you can. The yoga classes have been great. I love Alyson's classes, especially the energy medicine class. Very restorative. I have my own mat, but tend to come straight after work and just use their mats. There is a changing room that can be used to change into workout clothes. The staff is engaging, the location is nice with lots of parking (same parking lot as Ken's, but in the back of the building to the right), the pricing for the class cards is reasonable, and the studio is clean and inviting. What more could you ask for?

I was offered a free intro class to Pilates and what better way to start something new!…read more I have done Pilates at home on a mat, never on a reformer but I figured I needed to try something different. Nicole was our instructor for the day and made sure we were positioning ourselves correctly and doing the workouts with the right posture. There were 6 girls total for a more intimate setting so it was nice being on a smaller class. Being a first time reformer user came easy as I was familiar with many of the positions. But it was hard to hear the cues given with the music. If I wasn't new to this, I would have easily missed out on what to do

Soulshine Yoga (Wethersfield, CT)…read more I initially came to Soulshine Yoga to partake in a Reiki level 2 class, instructed by Blissful Melissa! Her class was amazing and enlightening by the way!! I have been to many yoga studios over the years and I must say, the minute I walked in I felt very much at home. I've heard so many good things about this studio from friends. They offer many levels of yoga: Power yoga, all levels, restorative, reiki & restorative, alignment, sound healing, prenatal, sweat & surrender, gental, yoga nidra and more! It's located in Old Wethersfield Historic District with local shops and restaurants close by. I've been searching for a new yoga studio for awhile and I believe I'll be joining Soulshine Yoga soon!

WHY offered a new student special - $20 for two weeks of unlimited yoga so I decided to try it out…read more The studio is nice and big inside, I like the high ceilings and not feeling like you're on top of each other. They also have a decent number of classes throughout the day, although no morning classes before 8am. The little shop had some cute items for sale too. I tried 3 different classes with 3 different instructors and didn't like any of them. For me, yoga is all about flowing in and out of poses, but these classes had very limited flow. For example in one class we were in happy baby and then she said stand up and go into warrior 1... typically an instructor would have you flow through different poses to get to warrior 1. It felt very choppy, overall just not my style yoga.

I found out about this yoga studio through Groupon, and it's one place I'll definitely continue…read morereturning to even without a Groupon. There are so many classes offered by a variety of teachers in a variety of different teaching styles. With all of the times and options offered, there's something to please every yogi. Most classes are an hour and fifteen minutes long. Their website is very user friendly and always up to date with the class schedule, a description of each class, and a bio about the instructor, which generally includes the experience level of the instructor and what got him or her into yoga in the first place. I've never had an issue with classes being too full, and if you don't have your own mat or other yoga props (blocks, belt, blanket), they have them there for use free of charge. The studio feels very welcoming and comfortable as a whole. There are two big rooms for classes and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and supportive of your individual yoga practice. The studio also offers teacher training, clinics, and some specialized classes, including one geared towards individuals dealing with MS. They are open 7 days a week. I'd highly recommend this yoga studio. The location is easily accessible (right off of route 2), convenient (across from the TJMaxx/Shoprite plaza, with its own parking lot), and between the number of classes and different teaching styles, you're guaranteed to find something you like that fits in your schedule.

She challenges you in all the right ways, and thanks to her, my posture has completely transformed and I'm in the best shape I've been in for years. She knows exactly how to push you without overwhelming you, and she always explains the "why" behind the movement, which has helped me build not just strength, but body awareness. I'll admit, I hesitated to write this review because I didn't want to make it even harder to get a spot--but I can't keep it to myself. Everyone deserves to know how amazing she is. If you're lucky enough to grab a spot in Sara's class, don't think twice. She's the best.
