It is about 30-35mins from the Munich Hauptbahnof including walking time to the closest underground transit station, making it in my opinion rather removed from the city center, however it could be a great base for exploring the outskirts of the city itself. Garching itself seems to be a nice little town, now absorbed into Munich itself. The hotel itself is brand new, and it has technology integrated into multiple aspects of living here - be it the self-check in counters or the tablet present in every room, or the motion-activated nightlights. The staff are very friendly, helpful and cheerful. There is a store at the entrance called EMMA which sells basic supplies, which although rather overpriced is a welcome source for toothbrushes and midnight snacks. The hotel seems to emphasize eco-friendliness and general sustainability. The only major complaint I have with this hotel is the airconditioning, which does not really seem to function at all. Wall-mounted displays for controlling airconditioning are misleading and incorrect, and rooms are rather warm (especially in summer when I stayed here). Apparently, the airconditioning system used is not a conventional system - whatever the case, it simply does not function as an airconditioner should.

They were out of potato salad and served roasted potatoes instead of asking me if that was okay. The dish was also supposed to be served with horseradish and was not and when I asked for a side the waiter was upset and told me the food was marinated in horseradish. The meat was a bit burnt. Restaurant was definitely a bit crowded and tables were super close. It's hard to hold a conversation because it's super loud. Prices are reasonable. Service was just okay. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the potato salad ( So good!). We enjoyed eating on the patio , since the weather here is so wonderfully cool for August ( 74 degrees today) Stephan was our server, and he was awesome. Since the menu is only in German he assisted us with menu choices. Another plus is the clean restroom. Like everywhere else in Germany, a FFP 2 mask is required for entry.
