Nice place. Good food. Great to sit outside. I find the inside as too stuffy. The mushroom risotto was excellent. A little downer was that they were hopelessly understaffed, but this seems to be common thing these days. read more

Most of the customers seemed to be Weimar natives but everyone was very friendly and we felt right at home. The inside was decorated in a rustic, beautiful, traditional German pub and restaurant style, with historical emblems and artifacts decorating the walls. The food was great-- traditional cuisine from the region-- and the beer was equally good. The hospitality was the most enjoyable part however and especially a very kind and hospitable gentleman named Frank, who made sure all of our needs were taken care of and provided us with wonderful conversation. This was an extremely memorable evening for us and I highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting or traveling through Weimar.

The soups were delicious; we liked the one so much that my sister-in-law tried to replicate it (unsuccessfully) when she got home to the US. We really really enjoyed this experience and I highly recommend it!

Up a hill, just off the centre of the city, this is a large traditional looking German brewery, but with beers certainly well above the average. A lovely glass roofed area is located to the side, where you can enjoy whatever is happening outside and in the sky. Their 8% Bock was my favourite. Initially it was not so obvious how strong it was, but it left a feeling in the mouth not unlike i had just drank a shot of some spirit or other. Their Pilsner and Schwarzbier were also very good. We enjoyed some foods. Bread with onions and cheese au gratin, a pretzel with cream cheese and some kind of potato dish. We were very happy with what we had.
