Very upsetting experience! Avoid. Save yourself a headache which requires repair and additional expenses.

Topp Homes/Solar Grids Central PA sets the bar - and sets it very high…read more We encountered Topp/Solar Grids and owner Todd Sanford at the PA Home Show; they left a great first impression with informative, straightforward, and personable initial conversations. Through a process where we met and secured quotes from about 6 roofing companies (some also did solar) and 2-3 solar companies (some also handling roofing), Topp/Solar Grids/Todd stood out for best interaction with a confidence-inspiring approach, economical project pricing, and quality materials. Our experience start-to-finish set a benchmark for roofing, solar, and contractors in general. Todd's initial home visit provided clear information on options for both roof and solar, including a clear explanation of Topp's Solar Grids partnership. He provided refreshing honesty, mentioning for instance gutters that were in good condition, so he ethically did not feel right suggesting we replace them. We had a solid layout on what to expect, timeframes, pricing and financing options, factors that impacted our bottom line (especially with the solar piece and costs/credits/benefits to consider), flow of the project, and how we would be kept updated throughout the process. That outline truly manifested as described throughout the entire project. Roof installation day was so efficient and expeditious that even our neighbors commented on how impressive the crew was. We have a very large roof (40 squares), which was stripped, repaired, underlaid, and ready for shingling within 4-5 hours; then shingles, ridge vents, details, clean-up, and load-out were finished within another 6-7 hours. One Saturday - done. Topp's roofing crew was exceptional - professional, considerate, lightning fast, thorough, and highly competent. Their crew lead even checked in throughout the day to ensure our dogs were not being overly stressed by the noise and process! The area was cleaned well and combed for straggling items not only on the day of, but even again in the later solar install day as a second pass. Solar involved the normal various approvals plus some electrical updates our home needed. Topp provided their electrician's options but was open and entirely collaborative when we wished to use our own past electrician. Navigating the PP&L approval process and securing the solar equipment went smoothly with regular updates, including Todd letting us know of a needed solar equipment change done without additional charge to us. The same crew and crew lead were back on solar install day showing the same skill and efficiency, plus their electrician and a solar engineer (bravo to a female engineer in a male-dominated role!). A 26-panel system was installed, tested, and completed within ~6 hours. Full approvals/inspections allowing us to go live also happened in communicated timeframes. The solar monitoring portal and PA SREC program portals set up for us by Topp are informative and helpful. Company owner Todd is passionate about providing customers with an exceptional experience; he demonstrated consistent follow-through, regular updates, positivity, sincerity, and a generous and collaborative spirit. Topp/Solar Grids is clearly appreciative of customer participation in the process as well as referrals. We were quite pleased our first referred friend had the same solidly positive experience with Topp/Solar Grids/Todd that we did. We are thankful we found Topp, Solar Grids, and Todd. Positive reviews, referrals to others, and future return to their services for our home projects are all easy decisions when the companies and people leave such exceptionally positive impressions, showing high-quality craftsmanship and valued customer treatment.

Mark and his team were very accommodating and aware of our needs so as not to totally upend our lives. The finished product exceeded our expectations, looks great and was worth the cost and temporary inconvenience. Because it was almost a total rebuild we needed Mark's opinion and guidance with several aspects of the project. We're not the experts but he sure is! He was happy to help whenever asked and we're glad we did. He is a true professional and was very helpful with some of the tough decisions and details that really made the final product stand out. We also had him install hardwood flooring and replace windows. All good there too! From what I've heard in researching remodeling contractors Mark is one of the best in managing the project from beginning to end. He stays on top of the details and keeps you informed. I fully endorse Colebrook Construction and appreciate their craftsmanship.

Mark offered suggestions that the first two companies did not even think of and offered a better price. We completely gutted the kitchen and added sliding glass doors. Like any remodeling project on an older house we ran into our share of "unknowns" but Mark worked with us and was quite reasonable about the costs to correct things that had to be addressed. We loved the finished project and were quite pleased with all of the workers. In 2012 we replaced an existing sunroom and remodeled the adjoining family room as well. Both rooms were completely gutted and the sun room had new windows and new walls installed. Again, we loved the finished project and were quite pleased with the workers. In April 2014, a fire at a neighbors home spread to ours and our home was damaged as well. Luckily, our previously remodeled rooms were not affected. A restoration company offered to do the clean-up and reconstruction, but we called on Colebrook Construction to do the major repairs. Mark worked with us and the insurance company. Colebrook Construction repaired a fire damaged wall, installed siding, roofing, and replaced a burnt down fence. They also did interior painting, drywall repairs, carpet replacement and replaced insulation in our wall and attic. After the fire repairs were completed we also had Colebrook remodel our laundry/powder room and foyer in June 2014. Those projects included new ceramic tile floors, paint, baseboard heater replacements, and a new toilet and vanity/sink in the powder room. We also replaced an old wrought iron railing with a new wooden one. Again we were very pleased with the job that was done and all the workers Colebrook used.

Once the the roof started to leak is were Bitner Bros really showed there true colors. Started calling with the first signs of leaks showed up. Blamed the gutters which were clear ignoring the failed flashing. Fast forward a few months gutters are clear new down spouts, leaking turning rain storms. I crawl in the eves and can see day light through the roof. I start calling leaving messages. When i do talk to someone I am promised call backs I hear nothing. After talking with some former employees that is pretty typical. Sub standard work refusal to correct. It took months of calling like every other day. Finally got someone out to look at it. The leak was fixed but the repair is sub standard. I was told that someone from the office was going to call about cleaning up and painting "since it took so long" nothing no call we are going on a year since that happened. I gave up on calling because i didn't have water coming in. Well guess what... I have leaks again. Instead of spending all of the time to get them out to address it(which would take forever) I called someone else to look at it. I was advised of how poor an install job it was (which i knew)

He then accused me of owing him another $1,500 when I only owed him $500. and pulled his crew off the job before it was finished due to "lack of payment". I had proof of payment, spoke to Elka the office manager and she also agreed that the payment was made. I asked her the email me the receipt of payment which she never did. My husband and I had to finish the porch ourselves. Even if you take him to court (which I did) he did not pay me the money I was awarded. This man needs to held accountable for his actions, but he knows the system and how to abuse it. I would add pictures if I could.

Big problem is they place so called quility sifted topsoil (according to owner) along both sides of walk which resulted in poor soil with smal stones/rock throughout. Not happy about that. I already discussed this with owner.

Written BY: CR LP Township:…read more I contacted this company to come out and give me a quote to fix existing stone walls in and around flower beds, trim shrubs, remove rhododendron bush, remove shrubs around the driveway, prune Japanese maple and remove bonsai grass and replant the backyard, repoint and install gator sand to lock pavers. The above work was done just okay. But, the problem with the mulch was that I was planting flowers in the mulch flower bed and found less than an inch of mulch in that area. I have weeds growing in the mulch just after the mulching was done. As requested, the beds were not edged to help keep the mulch in place. The mulch depth ranged from less than one inch up to just less than two inches. I called and spoke to Anthony and asked if he would come out and look at what I was telling him and he said, "I am not coming out there." You could have moved that mulch around." His attitude was not what I expected, and his demeanor changed, and hung up on me. Needless to say, the problem is not fixed. I would not recommend dealing with this company.
