Unfortunately, that technology is not at all friendly or forgiving. All is fine until you add complexity to the situation and need hand holding. I've closed on 30+ mortgages in my life, have owned dozens of properties and this was by far my least favorite closing experience. When things went sideways the implementation team was literally afraid to bring in the boss (Shant) for assistance causing multiple delays all they up to the night before the first scheduled closing. We eventually got it done but the underwriting process was absolutely ridiculous. Here is one example; the underwriters required an official letter from my employer on company letterhead and signed by HR describing the frequency of my annual bonus. Really?? In summary, very nice people but not the best experience. Good Luck.

It's an old fashioned bank: no ATM, one office, low employee turnover. Thus, the help gets to know you. Their financial managers are smart; they pay some of the best interest rates around consistently. It is a well-established bank; it survived the Great Depression. Do yourself a favor: Keep the money in the community and do business with them.

I asked about whether i would be penalized if I paid my loan off early (some mortgages are set up this way) and he said, "only portfolio banks charge a fee." I then told him i was a former state employee and had a retirement account i was thinking of using for a downpayment. He responded, "oh, were you a teacher?" Not all women are teachers, and how many are employed by a state??? I think cities and towns employ teachers. He also wouldn't tell me what rate I could get. Which is the whole purpose of meeting with them. If the rate isn't good I won't be doing business with them. Overall - my recommendation is DON'T GO HERE. I went with Rockland Trust.

I specifically asked them not to pull my credit and explained that I just wanted some information so I could figure out at what price point I could be shopping. I also explained that I was interested in a multi-family home. I was told to fill out the online application and told that he would then pull my information and we could discuss. What ended up happening was someone entirely different (Bob Wagoner) pulled my credit report and sent me a pre-approval letter for a single family home (not a multi-family) without talking to me directly at all. I then called Alan to discuss the next day and he hadn't even seen any of my information. When I finally talked to Alan again after he had said that he had pulled my information he didn't even know my salary. These people clearly do not communicate within their own office and do not listen to what their customers' wants and needs are. I would go elsewhere and warn friends to avoid this place. Pretty much anything would be better.
