On the other hand, if you choose to sit outside on a hot day and you happen to be terrified of bees and wasps, this may not be the best place to visit. The good news is that you can sit inside, too, and surround yourself with very English decor in what can best be described as a cut-price tea room (the wearing of a dinner jacket isn't required). However, the price of some hot breakfast items were inexplicably through the roof (in other words, relatively expensive). No parking either but that is fairly average in Paignton. The staff are always friendly and the prices reasonable.

I do recall staggering into them after a night on the shandy, hoping for something to cure a hangover. A pot of their fresh made tea and a mountain of hot buttered toast usually did the trick. These little tea-rooms are clean, bright, superbly run and serve everything to set off a perfect summer's afternoon. Teas, scones (delicious) hot buttered toast (vital) and home-made cakes, along with filled rolls, all make for a perfect snack to enjoy whilst looking out over the bay. When the sun is shining on the waters of the River Dart t's just so beautiful. If you enjoy the castle, then take time out for tea & scones at the tea-rooms to complete the experience.
