This "attention" can be overwhelming at times depending upon the sales representative. If you're someone who has a crisp idea of what you want and prefer to shop in peace, you may find unwanted company. However, the passion the associates have to meet your exacting vision knows no bounds. On more than one occasion I've found myself texting/emailing with an associate regarding the most frivolous of products such as cufflinks. While many high-end fashion department stores have been unable to keep up with the change of consumer demand, it's nice to know Boyd remains a permanent fixture in the local community.

You've heard the saying, "One person's trash is another person's treasure." After refreshing and restyling my living and dining rooms, I found some less-loved items that someone else might enjoy. Knowing I planned another visit to the King of Prussia area, I brought my no longer loved items to the Neighborhood League Shops, a nonprofit in Wayne since 1912. This is my first time consigning. I learned that each drop-off is limited to 15 items, and no books are accepted. The ladies in the shop were very friendly. They explained the consignment process and accepted my two boxes containing less than 15 items. When shopping for preloved items, the quality and value of these older, well-made products are second to none. The Neighborhood League Shops offers an excellent selection of reasonably priced cut glass, crystal, sterling silver, etc.

I headed to their basement, which had more everyday "home decor" items, some linens, small electrics, etc. I saw many lovely things, though nothing interesting enough to purchase. We then headed over to the Alley Door, which is around the corner. Despite it being almost noon in weekday, and a sign stating they open at 10, the store was dark and locked. Huh? We walk back to where we were and ask about this. They know nothing, they said, just that the cash box had not been collected. That's it. I imagine these stores are run by volunteers, and it's a good cause. I'm not sure I would make a special trip to shop there. When I'm in the area, I'd go again.

While I've trained myself never to pay MSRP on anything, sales are constant (they are currently running 40% off in honor of Mary Todd Lincoln's birthday) and to my great surprise, clothing can be found on shelves and hung up alleviating the aggravation of having to search for your size on the floor.
