It's made to look like you've stepped underwater with blue wavy lights on the floor and paper lantern fish above your head. It has more of a club atmosphere, but not in a creepy "let's go clubbing way" that you might associate with some places (especially if you're not a club person). When we were there Friday, they had an Elvis impersonator signing live and played mostly 60s classics through the night. It's a great addition to the area. Drink menu is simple but has a lot of character. Cocktails starting at $10 up to $16-17 range depending on what you're after. They also have this crazy monkey head tiki drink for $25 that is meant to be shared by two people (or one really thirsty person).

This place boasts 3 rotating taps and a Newtown-worthy selection of about a dozen or so bottles. I grabbed a Sierra Nevada and settled in to wait for my date. The smell of pulled pork filled the room and I couldn't resist ordering a couple of sliders (pork or beef $5/each, $12/3). Both were pretty tasty. I'd happily return to Secret Garden next time I'm early for a gig at the Enmore.

Well, it certainly turned out to be worth it because the atmosphere was great. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, which is something that always grabs my attention, and there were also some pretty nice beers on tap as well. Asked for the Sailor Jerry and apple, but once again, the bartender was quick to recommend something different. He wanted me to try JD Tennessee Fire and apple. I know it's like Fireball, which I hate, but he was very persistent with his glowing recommendation, so I obliged. I'm glad I did, because it was delicious. You could only taste a hint of the whiskey, but mixed in with the fresh apple juice - which had a nice frothy foam on top - it was like cinnamon spiced apple sauce. Yum! The place was empty so this was clearly not a lunch rush problem and others had the same menu item , the Sunday Roast, and received it promptly. The food was barely warm. No apologies or acknowledgment of the delay when the food was brought out. There are many better places to eat. Choose one of them.

Mia Mortal has been sashaying the burlesque scene for the past 25 years. The show was a stunner. The Owner Craig was at the door when we walked in, he told us he'd moved up from Melbourne, and had been running clubs like Lazybones for years. He said "If it's not underground, I'm not interested" I liked his Moxie, and I had to concur. The hipster scene seems finally on it's knees with the clientele here being an over 30s crowd. I admit, I felt very relaxed. I even saw a member of a well known Sydney rock band here. If you want to stay ahead of the game? Say Hello to sophisticated class! Lazybones you're doing it right. $10 on the door gets you entry. Wine and Beer are priced reasonably, cocktails at $18 seemed a little pricey, but it looked like top shelf liquor. The menu, while I didnt try it, featured "Bunny Chow" with pick your own topping for around $12 as I recall. There were also Samosas and curries. It's very loud on a Friday night, Adults only. Good for date night or a chilled out trip into sin alley.
