We parked right in front of a take-out burger place and asked him for lamb dishes. He was kind enough to direct us to Mr. Kebab. Wow! We were impressed!! The place is spacious with seating inside and outside. A really fun decor... Turkish, I believe from some of the writing on the paintings. I wish I had been able to take pictures, but alas my phone had died. Some of the seating areas were cushion arranged around a low table, made it look more authentic for sure. The service was incredibly friendly. The gentleman, owner, I assume went out of his way to explain the dishes. We settled on sharing the lamb kebab (gyro style) on "chips".... fries.. lol. Four different, salad type vegetables, hummus, and 3 sauces. All for 15 NZ$. Oops, when we got to the register, we saw the sign: "no credit cards accepted" We had only just arrived in New Zealand and banks had been closed. We had 0 NZ $ !! No problem at all. Just pay in US $. How much? Oh... $10 should be fine. This was amazing to us. To top it of, the plate we ordered was huge. We could hardly finish it between the two of us. There also was a jug of water available free of charge. If I could mention one thing to improve would be to add ice cubes and a slice of lemon to the water.
