I just had an awful experience booking an appointment for a massage and evaluation, several days in advance, just for the massage therapist to send me an email 30 minutes before the massage saying my appointment was canceled. I was of course already on the way, in pouring rain, and I received no phone call or anything. I tried several times to call the office and just got a recording each time. To cancel my appointment via a last minute email, was not only inconvenient, but highly unprofessional and discourteous. This has left a horrible impression, and I will not be rebooking. read more

I've had several chiropractors in the past and this woman is not only the worst chiropractor I've ever encountered but also the worst medical "professional". Nothing about her is the least bit professional. I bought a Groupon for a massage that came with a free chiropractic evaluation. I decided to try it out as I had just moved and was looking for a new chiropractor who would be closer. I went to my consultation and watched Dr. Jacobs work on people who came in after me first even though I had already told the receptionist I was in a hurry. I had to wait at least 20 minutes before she worked on me. She had 2 big dogs roaming around her office like crazy which I thought was very unhygienic and unprofessional. What kind of medical office has animals running around in it? This whole time I thought the consultation was free because that's what the Groupon said. Dr. Jacobs nor the receptionist ever told me it wasn't free. Imagine my surprise when I receive a bill from them 2 weeks later. They told me I needed to speak to my insurance because my insurance is the one who's trying to charge me. I call up my insurance and they said it was actually the office who charged me and they didn't charge me as a consultation but as an appointment. So my insurance rep suggested we call the office together to resolve this issue because the charge looked so suspicious to her. We get Dr. Jacobs on the phone and she IMMEDIATELY starts getting defensive and nasty on the phone. She claims that I signed paperwork allowing myself to be charged and that I didn't get a consultation but an appointment (even though I explicitly told them I was scheduling my free consultation). She was extremely insulting and petulant on the phone - she started yelling at me and then started yelling at my insurance rep before she hung up on both of us. I really wish I had recorded the phone call just to show what a terrible crooked person she is. My insurance rep told me Dr. Jacobs is the rudest medical professional she's ever encountered. Long story short - BUYER BEWARE: don't fall for her "free" consultation trick from the Groupon. Get your massage and stay as far away from Dr. Jacobs as possible. read more

I've been visiting this office for about six months, and just got around to reading the Yelp reviews - I'm a little surprised at all the conflicting reviews on this page! Wanted to put my two cents in about my experience here in the last few months, as it seems some of these reviews are outdated: 1) The receptionists are always SUPER nice to me. I've always dealt with Layla and she is great via email and will call me on the phone if it is something that needs a more urgent response. Not sure what receptionists the other reviews complain about, but it certainly isn't anyone I've seen in the office over the last 6 months. 2) The office is a little quirky - the tables are out in the open and there are two wonderfully behaved dogs there...I personally like that it is homey and enjoy playing the dogs while I wait for my appointment. There's usually not more than 2 people in there for an appointment, and I don't mind not having "private" rooms - not something that makes me uncomfortable, but everyone is different. 3) I have only been adjusted by Dr. Jacobs once, I usually see Dr. Gage. He is GREAT. Listens to all my concerns and I always come away feeling better. Recently I've been seeing Chris (M.A.T.) and he is great too. They are willing to try all sorts of different techniques / things to make you feel your best! read more

Much the same as last 2 reviews. LivingSocial voucher. Unprofessional receptionist. Cold, sparse room with remarkably lousy relaxation music. I'm not a massage expert, but the massage practioner did some rather strange shaking of my arms and legs during the massage. He also pulled on my arms much more than I've experienced in the past. Several times he bumped my arms or my head as he walked around the table and twice he squirted cold lotion directly on me instead of onto his hand and did some wierd motion on the bottom of my feet that tickled. He did, at least, go for a full hour after he started late. When he was done, he patted me on the chest (as if kicking the tires on the car) and said, "That's it." It was all I could do not to swipe the singular dollar bill in his tip jar. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am sad to rate her with one star. I've been going to her for a few years now and she's an amazing Doctor. She recently had a change in staff and that's what I don't like. I love the services she provided so I referred my boyfriend to her. He got billed and received it thru mail and he called them to pay with his credit card. Apparently, what happened was her staff who answered the phone, just wrote down his card number (great job on security!) and processed it after. Now, he received two phone calls and one email saying the payment didn't process Coz they have the wrong card number. Not only they did a great job on security (yes, that's with sarcasm)... I got a Groupon for a 60 minute massage here. Scheduling: Pretty easy as far as I remember. Getting there: Really hard for people who rely on public transit. There's no metro station near the studio so you have to transfer from the train to a bus. Studio: A bit small but nice. The massage studio is separated from the chiropractic office but there are clear instructions on the door and they're practically right next to each other. The studio is tidy and feels welcoming. Massage: That's where the rating comes from. It's essentially a 50-minute (not the full 60 despite me arriving on time) backrub. The therapist's techniques felt professional but there was no pressure involved at all. I don't have anything else to comment...but it's very underwhelming and did not feel like it's worth my time or money. Overall: If you like lighter pressure this might be helpful, but if you only respond to deeper pressure (I'm not talking about "no pain no gain", I don't subscribe to that - I'm talking about firm pressure vs back rub), I don't think this will be the right place for you. One more note: The use of lotion and essential oil is beyond excessive in my session. I got my massage in the morning and have to go to work right afterwards, and for a whole day, I smelt strongly of essential oil and felt greasy. I've got massages before and never had this issue. ETA: I read the other reviews and realize that there's more than one therapist. I don't believe my therapist introduced herself so I can only say that I had a female therapist. read more

I had a fabulous massage however my adjustment was the worst one I have ever experienced. I didn't feel anything fall into place like I experience at the other two places. I later found out the chiropractor I was working with is new to their office. I came in thinking I was going to see the lady who runs the office who seemed extremely knowledgable but got someone else. The guy who worked on me was kind but I would not recommend him especially if you come in with a sharp back pain. The only reason I will give them 3 stars is because my massage was AMAZING!!! If I ever decide to go back I will make sure the booking is with Dr.Jacobs so I can be in and out and feel like I didn't waste my time. read more

This place is great. 4 years and counting! Dr. Jacobs is great. She has a great sense of wit to trade barbs and care when you need it. She has two super social dogs that love greeting people at the door. The receptionists are awesome. A huge upgrade from their predecessors. Massages are great. The massage room can be a little off putting since their are curtains instead of walls. But the massages definitely make up for it. Lawrence is awesome and I tell everybody to book him. After reading the reviews and seeing comments about lauren. I have been there for 4 years and have no clue who that is. So I imagine she isn't there anymore because Jacobs does implement quality control in people experiences. If you have BCBS this place is in network! read more

I went to Jacobs Chiro in April after a back injury left me with limited mobility in my right leg. The traditional docs were trying to fix me up with drugs and simply told me to lose weight or deal with it. A friend suggested I find a chiro, and I chose Dr. Wendy's practice because of her smile on her website picture and her Army background (military family here). She is my miracle worker! Within 2 weeks of seeing her 3x a week, I regained mobiity and almost no more pain. Seriously! I was reduced to 2x a week and now I see her weekly, visits which I look forward to. Her assistant/receptionist is an absolute doll! (I don't know who those other reviewers are talking about -- maybe an old one?) I've never had a massage but I did get the chance to meet the masseuse twice and he seemed like a nice man. I know they perform other holistic services like ear candling, acupuncture, etc...and, in my case, physical therapy. The only caveats: You have to like dogs, because her two dogs are in the office -- but they are uber friendly and totally docile. The other is you can't be shy because there is no waiting room as the next patients who come in will be watching you get worked on and the manipulations happen in the front window which does get a lot of traffic. But you totally won't notice, and the other patients are usually so friendly that you develop a nice rapport with them as you continue to come in. I highly recommend Jacob's Chiropractic to anyone I know who is in the market for a good chiropractor. read more

I got a deal through Groupon to try this place which is pretty convenient for me from Alexandria. $49 for an hour massage. I called and was able to book the massage same-day on a Saturday through a very friendly gentlemen over the phone. Lawrence was my masseur for that day. Did I luck out?! Lawrence was professional, knowledgeable, and took time to review my pre-massage sheet with me (places that hurt, etc.). The massage itself was great and I'm so very glad I went in. I had a similar experience as others trying to book an appointment with my Living Social coupon. After finally getting an appointment, I was highly disappointed. I showed up about 10 minutes before my appointment because with most professional spas, they require you to fill out a brief medical history. However, when I got there, there was a sign on the outside door that said, "Please knock. Massage in session." I was let in by the only massage therapist to a tiny room with curtains set up and a couple chairs as a waiting room. It was extremely awkward. I was basically sitting in on someone's massage. There was no receptionist, and no one asked me to fill out any sort of medical history. The room was freezing, and I was shivering even before I had to declothe. As the massage therapist was finishing up with the previous couple a couple minutes before my massage was to begin, a woman dressed in shorts, sandals, and a t-shirt came in and seemed to be instructing the massage therapist on what to do next. She had him wash his hands and then she asked him to step outside to talk. It was now 5pm, my appointment time. They talked outside for 10 minutes. I waited. Then he came back in and we briefly talked before he stepped out while I changed. He didn't come back for 5 more minutes. The massage finally started around 5:15. The massage itself was fine. The therapist was nice enough and listened to what I wanted. However, he felt very rushed, and I soon found out why. The next person showed up at about 5:55, and the massage therapist ended my massage, which was supposed to be an hour. They clearly schedule NO time between massages and don't comp the time when they cut in for administrative issues. The whole thing was so unprofessional and strange, I will never go back. awful. receptionist was NOT nice. i called to schedule an appt to use my LS voucher (before it expired) and was told that they were booked through 2012. right. i asked if they would consider extending the offer since they were booked and was essentially reprimanded for not having called earlier. doesn't sound like the massage was great, but either way, after the terrible service and now being out $45, not only will i never go to this place, i will tell everyone i can how miserable my experience was. i wish businesses would learn that the front desk is the first impression a customer has of their business, and if it's not good, people won't necessarily tell you, they will just never come back and instead tell all their friends how bad it was. read more

I am new to the area and purchased the groupon for a massage. Since it is a chiropractic office and I am in need of a new chiropractor (have been under chiropractic care for 8 years) i decided to try it out. The massage was by Lauren and it was ok. I have been receiving massages for years on a monthly basis and have had a number of different experiences. The massage area is separate from the chiropractor office and they use curtains to divide the area into rooms. Not a huge deal but the door is right by the first massage area and when people come in, you feel like they are right next to you. This was not the worse experience but definitely far from the best...I would give it a 3 out of 5. Onto the chiropractor...let's start with the office setup....totally no privacy! You walk in and there are adjustment tables on each side of you. At least the massage place had curtains! Anyway, I go to check in and they ask me if I mind dogs. Uh what? I ask " what do you mean dogs?" And I am told that they have 2 large dogs but they can put them up if it bothers me.. Yes please, put them up I reply. (Aren't we taking this pet friendly environment a little far!) So now I am waiting for my appointment, although I am uncomfortable with the set up and everywhere I look to sit and wait is covered in dog hair. Really?! Isn't this a medical office? I didn't leave because I was way overdue for an adjustment, although I really wanted to! I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received from Dr Oumi. He was thorough and took his time. Despite his thoroughness, I will not be back. I was very uncomfortable with being adjusted in front of anyone who was waiting or walked in. I also didn't like the fact that I had to watch out for all the dog hair. It just felt unsanitary. Everyone I encountered was nice and friendly and if you don't mind dogs and have a little exhibitionist in you, you may like it here. The phone issue was fixed, very easy to get a hold of But she allows her two dogs, which are adorable/great dogs to run around the clinic. This is not professional in any world of healthcare. I'm allergic to dogs, and I'm sure other clients are. But there is no choice to be around them, the dogs are very playful and will come to you. This is pretty much the worst "massage" experience I've ever had and I didn't even make it to the actual massage. As mentioned in other posts, the receptionist is rude, unprofessional and downright idiotic. I had to call four times to set up an appointment. You're the receptionist...how do you not know how to properly set up an appointment??? Had I not already paid for my massage through Living Social, I would have told her to forget it. After I arrived, I was informed that they no longer had my appointment and that it must have been erased from the system. No apology, no offer to reschedule me or compensate me for the inconvenience, just a blank stare. When I mentioned that I was really disappointed in the service, all I got back was a "whatever." Granted I didn't actually get a massage but the room they had set up looked like an ER triage area. Thin hospital curtains were all that separated the massage rooms so you could hear (and practically see) everything that was going on in the entire place. Not to mention, they had people power washing the windows during everyone's appointments. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! About two weeks prior, I made an appointment to have a deep tissue massage because work has been stressful and I'd been suffering from some painful knots and muscle tension as a result. I wanted to do it on the 20th, a holiday, but the receptionist said that masseuses are only in Wed-Fri. I said that's fine, book me for that Wednesday. The receptionist was very nice and helpful and repeatedly reiterated the date of my appointment-- Feb 22nd, 2 PM, a Wednesday. On the day of the appointment, I manage to battle through the Glebe Rd. construction going on and get there with 10 minutes to spare. There was a sign in the window to the end of "Closed for today; Massage Appointments across the street at 2425". So I mosey over and try to open their door. It's locked. I give the office a call and thankfully someone was there. I told her the situation-- how the receptionist that made my appointment SPECIFICALLY SAID February, the second month of the year, the 22nd day, 2 PM, Wednesday. She takes my name and tries to find out what happened. The receptionist that took my appointment put me down for March 22nd, ~*~a Thursday~*~. The receptionist on the line seemed genuinely sorry it happened and offered to reschedule my appointment, but at that point I was so disappointed and strung out that I honestly didn't even want the appointment anymore. The receptionist is the only reason I'm giving this place more than one star. Can't speak for the actual service, as I'll never have the opportunity to experience it, but my humble suggestion would be to call the day before your appointment and make sure someone didn't screw up. read more

This is truly the worst place I have ever gone through Groupon, Living Social, etc. The woman on the front of this ad is the nastiness woman I have ever encountered. I come for a simple massage that I had booked through a representative on the phone. They double booked me and after going back and fourth between their two locations across the street-she tells me there is nothing she can do. I said it might be better if she accepted responsibility for the double-booking. She talks over me and explains it happens all the time "those darn computers". Most unprofessional thing I have ever encountered. She refused to give me my money back and referred me back to Groupon and basically said take a hike. Two other things-she has 3-4 dogs roaming around her office without leashes on that jumped up on me. I sure hope they don't bite anyone! Never seen that before! The massage area and waiting room are all the same so you there is no "tranquility" You can hear everyone that comes in and out because it's just a curtain draped in a room right by the door! If you buy a massage from this place, be warned. Go elsewhere, this place is awful for a variety of reasons. Edit for her "reply": the appt was not made for the day before, that is a complete lie! I came across Jacobs Chiropractic and their Holistic Healing Massage Office across the street by a Living social massage deal. This massage (deep tissue) offered by Jeung (jung, yeung)... not sure of the spelling but he was AMAZING. I try to get massages at least twice a month and by far this massage was the best i've ever had. This man needs to be teaching classes in deep tissue. Customized focus treatment. Dr. Jacobs takes time with each patient to make sure they are comfortable with the treatment options before them. I witnessed her baby-stepping a person who was new to chiropractic care with great care and skill. Her office is easy to find and a comfortable environment. A big plus is the two dogs she has in her office that love to "comfort" customers (but don't worry, she'll lock them up if you aren't dog friendly!). She also has massage therapists on staff that are nothing short of gifted (Lawrence is my favorite, though all I've tried are great). read more

I think this is one of the best deals in Arlington, not only because of the professionalism and competence of the staff, but its location is fairly easy to get to for many of us in the DC metro area. I first went there with a groupon deal and I've since been back there many times. I was fortunate enough to get Lawrence each time and now I specifically ask for him, as in my experience he is one of the more skilled therapists I've worked with. I had a great experience scheduling this massage because they were able to see me at 7pm. I saw Lawrence and he had really strong hands. I told him I had pain in my foot and he really focused on the area. A lot massueases kind of ignore me when I tell them I have pain in my foot. But he really focused on the area I had pain with a lot of pressure which was great. I will definitely be going back here for a Deep Tissue massage! I had such an amazing massage with Lawrence through a Groupon that I've returned for two more and plan to keep going. He is amazing! Pressure is perfect, if I need him to focus on a certain area he does. I love the combination of traditional massage techniques and use of hot stone at the end. Had a great massage yesterday with Lawrence! I have chronic neck pain and normally just ask the therapist to bypass that area, but after our conversation, I was confident that Lawrence knew what he was doing and would not cause further pain or injury .... the massage was excellent and I walked out feeling better than I have in a very long time. With chronic pain the real test is how it feels the next day, and I woke up this morning still feeling less pain than in years. This review is solely about the massage, as I cannot speak for the chiropractic which is in a separate office across the street and which I hear is actually GREAT. However, this massage was a terrible experience. I agree with what everyone has said thus far about the ambience (or lack thereof) and my whole massage I had to listen to paper crinkling in my ear because they have paper like at the doctors office lining the face rest. Ambience in a massage is just as important as the actual massage and it was just cold and uncomfortable. read more

I called for an appointment and was told to call back the next day as they weren't making appointments I then called three more times, during business hours, and never, ever get a real person, other than the first time when they told me to call back. None of my phone calls was ever returned so either these people are not in business anymore or don't really care enough that they work other than when they feel like it. You might get lucky and get an appointment once, but be aware, it is on you to call and call and call. read more

Great experience scheduling a massage and the massage was AMAZING. Dr. Jacobs herself was awkward and my consultation was unprofessional. She has a small office that she has two large dogs in where you are being treated. She also proceeded to lay on a table infront of me while watching tv until it was time for me to get my massage by someone else. I get being relaxed and having a fun office but my experince seemed unprofessional, but wait it gets better. She scheduled me for a spinal xray and sent me to the wrong office. Big difference between arlington and fairfax when you take time out of your work day to make this appoint to only be told you dont have one and there are none available for another week. Great doctor right?!?!?! When i mentioned to the receptionist answering the phone that Dr. Jacobs was missed informed and scheduled me for an xray at the wrong office she was sympathic but was also clueless. I got a groupon for a massage and it was not quite what I expected. I didn't have a lot of trouble scheduling an appointment, but FYI it is in a place that backs up during the evening rush hour if you've never been there before and don't know how to get around, as I found out. Also I went post-5pm and only the massage therapist was there, which was a bit weird (we were later joined by a patient for the next time slot, and since the space is only cordoned off by curtains, I could hear him/her disrobe in the other "room", which was also distracting). I have had a bunch of massages in various states before but never had one quite like this one - I guess it was more sports massage rather than relaxation, with lots of pressure and elbow use on his part in what seemed to be an ongoing offensive against any obstacle. I'm sure this works for some people, but it didn't seem to be doing much for my muscles. Even the hot stone bit at the end didn't get me in a relaxed state of mind, so focused was I on trying not to tense up at the pressure. Usually therapists notice when you're doing this but not this time. The next day my mid back felt like one big bruise, although there was no discoloration, and my neck felt tighter than before, which is unfortunate because I wanted to get a massage mainly to do the opposite. I should have spoken up sooner but I kept thinking there would be some payoff at the end. There wasn't. Be clear about what you want and keep clarifying if they don't get it the first time, and hopefully your experience will be better than mine. read more
