I fee lucky to have found Dr. Moussai, he takes insurance and he's not pushy with medication--which I appreciate. He also is genuinely and remembers details about our past discussions. I highly recommend him. read more

This week mark one year of my treatment with Dr. Moussai and boy, what a different personaI am. I struggled with undiagnosed depression and ADHD since childhood, along with some rather debilitating anxiety since quarantine. I had negative experiences with therapists who talked me in circles, or psychiatrists who threw medications at me without thoroughly listening to my symptoms. I had given up on seeking treatment until I was absolutely desperate for help. Luckily, I found Dr. Moussai through my insurance and chose him for his high reviews. I have never met a provider like Dr. Moussai. Upon meeting, he read me like a book. It was like he could see everything I was struggling with, even though I hadn't said anything yet. He even knew my mother's condition, again without telling him, and has been a great help navigating that situation. After learning about me, he presented a very thorough treatment plan of therapy and medication. With my sister being a clinical psychologist and working in medicine myself, he explained his entire treatment modality to me at my level of understanding. He takes majority of PPO insurances (I am unsure about HMO). He does telehealth and in-office sessions. He is available when you need him, but doesn't suffocate you. He will crack a joke and then give it to you straight. He will give you homework and hold you accountable. He will meticulously adjust your medications and dosages until they are working best for you. He will care. Dr. Moussai has changed my life for the better and I hope he can do the same for you, as well. read more

Whoever wrote cold, uncompassionate rude negative and disconnected was spot on. I second that and would never ever return. It feels like he Doesn't care to listen or help in any way. I Almost left there feeling worse than when I walked in. It was my first appointment and I'll never go back. Also thought it was extremely unprofessional he was 10 mins late to our appt time and didn't even acknowledge or apologize when bringing me in yet was quick to end the session on the dot. That was the first sign but still kept my hopes high and as the session went on I felt more and more disappointed. What a waste of my time and energy. Do yourself a favor and find someone else that can actually help you if that's what you're looking for. He should actually be ashamed making people feel the way they do when they come in looking for help for whatever reason it may be. This is not a profession this man should be in Old bald idiot Believe all the 1 star reviews you read on here (and there are many). I'm convinced the positive reviews are probably his friends and family trying to get him business read more

The service received or rather not received by Dr. Moussai for my adult daughter is incredibly unprofessional and downright disgusting! My daughter was supposed to have her 1st appointment with Dr Maussai today. Two hours before the appointment she receives an email from his office assistant stating "I hope this message finds you well. We regret to inform you that, after reviewing your paperwork & medical scores, the doctor determined that you risk level is too high to proceed with the appointment". News Flash!!!! A person doesn't seek psychiatric help because everything is "WELL". They are seeking help because THEY NEED HELP! To send an email a couple hours before the appointment, to say basically "you are too sick to be helped" and to provide 2 websites to check out......I can't even begin to express how disgusting this is., how unprofessional and how un-doctorly! I see by other referrals that this is not the first time this has happened. Pathetic!!!! read more

I have been working with Dr. Moussai for many years and this review is long past due. What sets Dr. Moussai apart is not only his stellar credentials but also his warm and caring demeanor. From the moment I began my sessions, I felt a genuine sense of compassion and understanding. Dr. Moussai approaches problems with a proactive mindset, providing practical and real-life solutions. One of Dr. Moussai's standout qualities is his dedication in getting to know his patients on a personal level. He invests time in understanding individual needs, challenges, and aspirations. Through this personalized approach, he not only addresses immediate concerns but also encourages and challenges individuals to reach their full potential. His life lessons are invaluable for me, and something that I will carry with me throughout my entire life. Dr. Moussai's genuine care for his patients is evident in every interaction. Even though his schedule is always booked and he gets so busy that he rarely accepts new patients, he still goes above and beyond to ensure that every patient under his care feel supported and valued. Lastly, I just want to highlight his impressive credentials, because that was a huge deciding factor for me when I was searching for a competent doctor. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Yale School of Medicine and serves as an assistant clinical professor at UCLA. Dr. Moussai brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his practice. I am so glad to have found him as my doctor and I would recommend him to anyone who needs some guidance in their life! read more

I made an appointment with this Dr as I was referred to him by someone I know I completed all the paperwork needed and submitted and was given an appointment for the next morning at 8am. At 8am the next morning as I was waiting for the appointment I was told after the Dr reviewed the paper work I needed to be referred to someone else as I was to "high care". And that they will cancel my appointment that was scheduled for the time they called me at. Pretty unprofessional in my opinion don't waste your time here. read more

Dr. Moussai is a compassionate, direct and highly effective psychiatrist. In my 20 years of searching for someone I trust and respect, Dr. Moussai is the only doctor to correctly diagnose me and create a treatment plan that has quite literally changed my life. I am a better mother, wife and friend because of it. I highly recommend Dr. moussai for anyone looking for a no- nonsense and honest approach to mental health and wellness- he is an active listener and promotes a level of self- awareness I have not had before. read more

Dr. Moussai was unhelpful and unprofessional, to say the least. I went to him for ADHD treatment, and off the bat -- before even listening to what was happening with me -- his first-line recommendation was OTC herbs and "nootropics" for the condition. Even though I had submitted extensive medical/family history prior to the appointment, he seemed to have read none of the forms because he kept asking the questions I had answered on them -- and then interrupting me whenever I responded. He drew a chart explaining how long various stimulants last (which I had not asked about) but the only one he offered to prescribe was my current one at a lower dose, even though my dissatisfaction with it was the reason -- as I had told him when I made the appointment -- that I was there. At one point he said he couldn't recommend any useful changes because "we [psychiatrists] just aren't that smart." He did suggest Wellbutrin, another drug I had tried and already mentioned prior to his suggestion was not helpful. When I mentioned problems with insomnia, he said he could recommend a sleep disorders specialist if I was curious, but that there was nothing they could do about any cause they might find. I should note that he came to this conclusion before inquiring into my behavior or even asking about the nature of the insomnia. He didn't offer to prescribe any medication for the insomnia, either, or even recommend lifestyle changes, aside from taking magnesium (which I had already said earlier in the appointment I had tried and wasn't working...See a pattern?). A similarly "helpful" suggestion he made was neuropsychological testing, which he said was not necessary for ADHD treatment but was something I could do if I was "curious" whether I had any learning disorders. I was not "curious" about this and had not brought it up. I became visibly upset with how unhelpful he was being, and said to him that if I was seeking treatment for diabetes, he (or any competent medical professional) would never be so hands-off about prescribing life-saving medication. He scoffed and said, "But treating diabetes is critical. ADHD...?" and then trailed off. It's unbelievable that a man would call himself a specialist in this condition that he obviously does not care to treat. Anyway, I hope he enjoys the near-$400 I paid for this appointment and doesn't spend it all on non-FDA approved supplements. I won't be back and I hope anyone else seeking treatment for ADHD -- or probably anything else -- can avoid him. read more

So 5 years later and I still think Dr Moussai is the best. His approach really emphasizes getting to stable, which may not sound exciting but after many years of turmoil it was the best thing for me. As I mentioned before he'll call you on your BS but if you really want to put in the work to get past your trauma to have a stable, content, and happy life I recommend working with him. Lots of psychiatrists will keep seeing you weekly and take your money. When I got to a good point in my life he's the one who gently moved me to seeing him every other week. I credit him for helping me do a 180 on my life. My finances are in order, I felt confident enough to open my own business, and I am much better at making human connections. Best of all I no longer am controlled by the trauma in my past and can finally be content in the present and foresee a future. read more

This doctor and his staff simply don't seem to care about their patients. only their money. they require an annual fee for any assistance outside of business hours(ie refills) but offer the bare minimum assistance when needed. I dont feel like I have a doctor supporting me and who has my best interests here. I strongly recommend elsewher. read more

I honestly can't remember how long I've been seeing Dr. Moussai as it truly feels like I've known him for years. I started seeing him when my insurance stopped covering my initial psychiatrist and I had to look elsewhere. After our first session, I was very pleased with his approach, demeanor and overall guidance. I've always felt comfortable speaking openly and even getting vulnerable/crying. But at the end of our sessions, I always feel like I've worked things through and came to a conclusion w/ direct action items so I can move forward with decision making. I personally work well when problem solving revolves around strategizing and realization. He shoots it to you straight, but can read the room like a champ and knows when to pull back or push forward on the gas pedal. read more

Great office. Appointments are easy to book. Dr. Moussai is a fantastic clinician. He will explore all your options with you before making his recommendation. He's also a big believer in how lifestyle modifications can benefit mental health and will take a well-rounded approach. He was a major resource in starting CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). read more

Dr. Moussai is incredibly smart and astute and he gets to the crux of most things incredibly quickly. It's like the second you go in he just sees everything, so clearly. He's empathetic and understanding and, really, just a genuinely lovely person. At the same time, he sees through the barriers we put up and the lies we tell ourselves and is the first person to call you out on it. I can't recommend him enough. read more

After sizing me up in the first 10 minutes of the appointment and making a comment about my body shape, Dr. Moussai told me that he couldn't help me with the disorder I'd been diagnosed with by my therapist of three years and refused to treat me for it. "Consider this $300 appointment educational" he said. After all, I was "underweight" -- which apparently can be determined from a zoom appointment -- and therefore giving me the medicine to help me take charge of my life was unethical because I'd most likely use it to starve myself. Please save yourself the time and money. Especially if you're an already educated patient with any degree of authority on your own mental health. And even more especially if you are a woman. read more

Dr. Moussai is an incredible clinician. He is a really solid balance of warmth and care and fact and logic. He will do anything to help you grow and become the best version of yourself. He is also very experienced and has a wealth of resources to choose from to treat each patient for their individualized needs. Would absolutely recommend him as a therapist or psychiatrist! read more

I have seen several therapists and psychiatrists throughout my life and I never thought I'd ever make as much progress as I have with Dr Moussai. I am so grateful I found him as I am confident his work with me has significantly improved my quality of life. He has helped me navigate so many things that felt impossible to before. He is very honest, and I feel that he genuinely cares. read more

Dr Moussai has been helping me with my anxiety for around five years now. He's the perfect combination of professional and friendly. I feel very comfortable and taken care of under his supervision. read more

I'm beyond grateful to have found Dr. Moussai. He is extremely thorough and caring, both as a professional and on a human level. Great with meds and doesn't over prescribe. Over the five years I've seen him, any time I am struggling, he has gone above and beyond. As an introvert, therapy was at one time my biggest fear and dread. It took a monumental effort to even go through different therapists, wanting to give up, until by some stroke of luck I found Dr. Moussai. Not all psychiatrists even deal with talk therapy - some just go based on symptoms and medications. This is far from the case here; he really values his patients and getting to know them. That aspect enhances the effectiveness of treatment more than anything. Like others have said, he is incredibly warm, easy to talk to, and skilled; to the point where I look forward to my appointments with him. He's changed and saved my life. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Moussai for several years now, and it has truly been transformative. From our very first appointment, he began empowering me to lift myself out of the darkness of depression and anxiety. What I love most about his care is that he does more than just listen and comment on my feelings. He takes the initiative to help me create tangible action steps to reclaim my peace and joy. And he helps me establish healthier ways of thinking about certain issues that are beyond my control. My sessions with Dr. Moussai are a safe place where I can be honest with myself out loud and not have to apologize for it. His patience and kindness are endless, and I can always count on him for genuine encouragement that comes with zero judgment. Also... this man is brilliant!! He really knows his stuff; I have never felt more confident in anyone's ability to provide sound direction. His care has made a world of difference in my life. I will always be grateful to have found Dr. Moussai. read more

I don't have the words to truly express what a brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Moussai is.  He truly is as smart as they come (Yale trained and quite honestly one of the most impressive CV/resumes I've ever seen).  But aside from his intelligence, he is incredibly supportive, thoughtful and caring.  He continuously goes above and beyond the call of duty and I am eternally grateful to him for his care. I credit him for so much of my mental health and progress and have no idea where I would be without him.  I have recommended him to so many friends and family members with the utmost confidence in his abilities. read more

I feel so lucky that I found Jacob, I am confident that the time spent with him (just over a year) absolutely changed the course of my life for the better. His is the perfect combination of MD and therapist, meaning he listens and is empathetic, but always comes back to the facts. He does not placate but instead enables the patient to face the reality of their actions and feelings and helps them move forward in their life. I moved recently and sadly had to leave Jacob; I have met with 2 other therapists who don't come anywhere close to him....hope I find someone else even half as good as him. read more

I really dislike going on the record with anything negative about anyone, however my experience with Dr. Moussai leads me to warn others to beware. I can document that everything I about to write is true. My initial experience with Dr. Moussai was positive . . . until I had some temporary insurance issues. At that point, Dr. Moussai refused to wait a month until it was resolved and demanded that I start to pay up front. In the process he lied to me about why he had decided to ask for payment before seeing me. The insurance issue was resolved in shortly over a month, but his office manager refused to accept that I did have insurance coverage, even though my insurance company called her to confirm my coverage. She refused to listen to me, and when I expressed my annoyance, she hung up and Dr.. Moussai put a note in my file that I was abusive to his staff--even though it was the other way around. I spoke with Dr. Moussai by phone, but he refused to accept the fact that my insurance issue had been the fault of my insurance company, and that the company had resumed paying and had reassured his office manager that they would continue to pay. I feel that Dr. Moussai broke the Hippocratic Oath -- "Do No Harm." At a very stressful time for me, he refused to wait a month for the insurance payments to resume coming through again and demanded that I pay around $300 a visit up front. My insurance had covered the full costs without copay, and assured Dr. Moussai that the temporary lapse in coverage was their mistake, and full coverage would resume. I have had a lifelong struggle with depression, and have seen several therapists over the years, and have been a paraprofessional therapist myself. Yet I have never experienced a psychiatrist who told lies, withdrew care at a crucial time, was unable to listen, and relied on his bookkeeper's misinterpretation of the facts over direct calls from my insurance company. Further, while my private insurance company was remedying its errors, I also had access to Medicare. But Dr, Moussai, who at first told me that he was becoming a Medicare provider, later told me that he was not becoming a provider--in the process telling me lies about the reason. This means that some might say that Dr, Moussai is practicing age discrimination--since he will not accept people Medicare, whether because of age or Disability. read more

I wish I could give him a negative star. He was uncompassionate, cold, disconnected, negative and very unhelpful. I do not recommend this psychiatrist. read more

Dr. Moussai has been my psychiatrist/therapist for 3 years. To make a long story short, I have seen many therapists but nothing quite like him! He is very educated in his field and research oriented (Which as therapist myself, I greatly appreciate). Dr. Moussai is caring and with great sense of compassion toward his patients. Honestly how many therapists routinely call their patients on the phone to check up on them, Dr. Moussai does that for his me! Every I leave a voicemail to his office he immediately returns my call. More importantly, he is always up-to-date on his patient's status and reviews notes from prior sessions before seeing you. Dr. Moussai treats his patients aggressively and very seriously! I have made several referrals to him and everyone I've referred thus far has the same opinion about him. I'm grateful for the stellar therapy services he give me and blessed to have found such amazing doctor! If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be as successful and happy of a person I am today! read more

Dr. Moussai is a wonderful psychiatrist who uses both medication and talk therapy to treat the various issues of his patients. I truly feel that he is easy to speak with and makes me feel comfortable opening up in a nonjudgmental environment. He also pushes to get to the root of the problems. He is understanding, sympathetic and caring. I would recumbent Dr. Moussai to anyone looking for a psychiatrist. read more

Dr. Moussai is wonderful. I initially decided to see him based on convenience (his office is near mine), but once I met with him, I decided without hesitation to keep going back. He's a no-nonsense guy but is much warmer and funnier than most psychiatrists I've met, and I love that he not only does the monthly medication check-ins but also will schedule full therapy sessions (two birds, one stone--and a good stone at that), which I've found incredibly helpful with aiding me in efficiently and deeply addressing my issues. I've already recommended him to a friend! read more
