I have been attending events at this venue since I was a child. It has changed a little since then…read morethough. This is known grandly as a conference and banqueting suite. It is situated close to Bletchley Park. The latest event I went to was a huge birthday party. The interior is quite nice with marble statues and a water feature. They have caterers who did the buffet for the event. It was italian food and it was second to none, there was a large selection of foods with lots there for me as I am a veggie. There is a dance hall area with a large stage, you can put up extra tables and chairs here if you wish. There is also a separate bar area which is still in view of the dance floor, there are tables and chairs here as well so lots of places to take the weight off your feet after dancing all evening. There is also a balcony which was closed when we went but was good fun when we were kids! The parking is almost non existent which is a real pain. But a fantastic venue non the less.

It is a converted 150 year old farm building in a secluded setting with a large, enclosed, outdoor paddock for outside play, Bouncy Castles, BBQ's, Hog Roasts and football birthday parties. It is used for many events such as baby showers, children's parties, christenings, family get togethers, BBQ's, Hog Roasts. There is a £10/hour hire charge for one off bookings. The Hall may also be booked for business meetings, staff meetings, clubs and groups, with space on a weekly and monthly basis for regular groups. There is a £6.50/hour hire charge for regular hirers which is invoiced monthly or quarterly. Missenden Abbey is a wedding and conference venue located in the picturesque village of Great…read moreMissenden. The abbey was founded by Augustinian monks in 1133, and dissolved in 1538. The church was demolished soon after, but a country house was built around the cloister in 1574. The house was rebuilt from over the years, attaining it's present "Gothick" form in the early 19th Century. Its last family owners sold it to Buckingham County Council in 1946 for use as a college. The building was badly damaged by fire in 1985 and subsequently rebuilt. It was acquired by Buckingham New University in the 1990s. The main building retains much of its character externally, but internally the gothic style has been reproduced with clean, modern lines and light wood, and so feels much like any other conference venue, albeit with some impressively spacious rooms. There are several substantial annexes with guest accommodation and more meeting rooms, all with the feel of a 1980s higher education institution - lots of glass, wood, endless corridors and little planted courtyards. Bedrooms are comfortable and modern. I only had one set of meals there: nice enough, but fairly average conference fare. Staff were charming and very obliging throughout. The grounds are nice, albeit less extensive than you might expect for a former country house, but come with sweeping views east over open countryside. There's on site parking and the venue is a ten minute walk from Great Missenden railway station.

Friendly staff, and a nice looking place inside. My problem was the food. Its certainly not outstanding, I'd say it was distinctly average. If that's your thing you will have an enjoyable meal. What let his meal down was the fact it had been microwaved be being brought to our table, resulting in part warm and park cool food. Dessert was no different. So much better than the mess it has replaced and the new owners deserve recognition for that, but the food needs more work.
