Our teacher Sergei was very patient with us beginners and because he liked our group he tacked on extra time just for us! Sweet! The coupon I got said private lesson, but I preferred it this way in a group setting. There were 3 other groups besides me, but we all got enough time for our turn. Sergei had a lot of good advice and tips to help us control the kite and for our safety. Basically the lesson consists of three different steps. First, you stand still and learn how to control the kite. Then, he straps you to it and you let it rip! The final step of the lesson, you hold onto Sergei as he controls the kite and you fly through the water as the kite leads the way! Definitely a lesson in how powerful those kites are. That kiteboarding thing is no joke. If you are serious about learning you will have to go back for more lessons. But this session was definitely a great way to "test the waters" to determine if this is a new hobby you will really want to pursue. For the water adventurer in you, give this place a try! Though based in Jacksonville, FL, they regularly hold classes in Atlanta. I've been scuba certified for over 30 years but I took a refresher course with Fintastic after being away from the sport for a while. The owner, Saffron, also taught my children to dive and we have traveled with her on more than 10 trips. Each one was organized, professionally done and tons of FUN. You can rent her gear for classes and trips or she can hook you up with your own gear at reasonable prices. Well known and respected in the diving industry, Saffron is a wonderful teacher with over 6,000 dives. Sitting on multiple Scuba Safety Councils, she is the person that professional divers recommend when asked for the name of a scuba instructor. It became clear that the instructor didn't have experience with toddlers--something she later confirmed by saying she had only worked with children as young as eight. Unfortunately, Rob was more concerned with where I had completed my basic open water and ironically telling me about their (First Coast Divers) recent "recon" of Divers Supply where they found customer focus lacking. At one point, he literally stopped his conversation with me mid-sentence to strike up a conversation with an apparent friend that just walked in the shop. Leaving me awkwardly standing there. Considering I am a new diver and not "married" to, or particularly loyal to any one dive shop, I find it very hypocritical for one business to bash another business as they literally do the very same thing! In the end, since I couldn't keep his focus on our conversation for more than 30 seconds at a time I finally got fed up and left. $900 still in my pocket and back to the drawing board. I truly hope this was a fluke and First Coast Divers does a better job keeping their focus on their students than he did on his customer.

My husband and I were very scared and weren't sure if our son would have a good time and follow instructions. Our son absolutely loves going to his swim lessons weekly and he truly has learned lots such as kicking and paddling, learned how to wear goggles and how to hold his breath while underwater. He's currently working on feeling comfortable submerging his head entirely under water and diving. He's showed so much progress thus far and I'm so proud of him! I plan to keep our son enrolled for a while since there are different levels at aqua swim.
