Okay, people can have bad days. No problemo. But I get annoyed when I get rebuffed after multiple attempts to show interest in another human beings' life experience. Lol Bottom Line: I'll be back at Albertsons but might skip deli visit if I see her working the counter.

I do love shopping in old parts of town. Can't outsource everything to big chains, plus most of…read moreWal-Mart's associates somewhat dislike their job, Verizon's reps detest the customers who do not add a line and buy 3 accessories each time they visit store in person, Costco's stuff could use somewhat smaller packaging and Fred Meyer or WinCo although very decent do not always have all I want to purchase, especially meat cuts. Nel's has best meat and awesome Italian sausage and Bratwursts and also they run great deals on chicken products from time to time. Another good reasons to give them a try are the ambiance, the spirit and the attitude. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care". One employee, I believe her name is Caroline, goes above and beyond in providing awesome customer service. You can be sure your shopping needs will be met and questions will get answered. She is the one eager to walk the extra mile and will even help you load your vehicle. She certainly deserves a raise. As far as prices go I'd say they are not too much above everyone else to drive across town and to settle for mediocre customer service. I mean I knew few people who would spend extra 30 minutes to save extra $0.30, but, assuming time also has value it is not worth the hassle. Plus corporate entities have means to support themselves no matter what and by shopping at Nel' s you contribute to the success of an awesome locally owned store.

The store has a constant problem with items being out of date. I just stopped to get a half gallon of milk and it had already been out of date for 2 days. I worked in the grocery business for 30 years, so I am very aware when shopping for my family, that items are fresh. This is not the place. In addition, it is way dirtier than I would prefer, and the employees are RUDE and unhelpful. In addition, the price gouging is stupid. Just avoid at all costs. I wouldn't even complain but over the months watching him treat his staff the way he does has got to me. I spend hundreds a week here, look up my phone number you'll see. I've slowly started taking my business to Albertsons, which by the way is slightly more expensive however, the staff is helpful, not condescending and rude like YOUR STORE MANAGER... there's no inconvenience on waiting like your store... (lack of cashiers, self checkouts not working) I'm unsure why you even put in self checkout.. it's 90% not usable ( errors, closed, or no one around to clear the screens... all of your best staff over 2.5 yrs have left to other establishments, I see and talk to them in town. You need to re think your management, treat your cashiers and stockers better. For being a "family owned business" it seems you're only about money and not your workers as you allow the upper management to treat them like trash, and cut their hours it's appalling.
