Reviews complaining about cleanliness or out-of-date decor simply make no sense to me; I'm positive that by European standards, this bus station is the stuff of nightmares, but by American standards? The South Station Bus Terminal is somewhere I would feel comfortable being at nearly any time of day as a young woman who often travels alone. The service I've experienced taking the Concord Coach specifically is always professional, timely, and doesn't leave me feeling unsafe, which are my priorities compared to having a beautiful-looking terminal or countless options for food vendors. Although the northeast is typically the exception, finding public transport in the US that has these qualities is rare. South Station is a repeated haunt of mine and has a special place in my heart. If you're looking for a cheap, reliable, and safe way to get out of Boston, this is the way!

I'm livid rn so I'll keep it short until I can call but I rec'd email 11:27pm last night that my…read more1:15 direct to NJ was cancelled so I panicked and rearranged my whole itinerary for getting to South Station (incl. skipping breakfast) but just to have opportunity to still get to NJ via an 8:55 (supposedly DIRECT) ride I booked an Uber for $39 ($44 w/tip) and then had to wake up my Son super early (priceless lol) and luckily the 8:55 still had 2 seats available so I booked that. Upon arrival at South Station bus driver informs me that there will be 2 stops so it's NOT DIRECT and so I started researching other options and found out my 1:15 that was cancelled was NOW SHOWING AVAILABLE. WTF!!!! but we're here so we get on the 8:55 only to be told we don't have assigned seats so after 3 attempts of sitting and being moved the driver nicely accommodated us up front because he noticed my frustration. Nevertheless, I hope we make it safely to NY on this run down bus with tattered seats, missing toilet seat and barely working heat. I don't know what I expect from you guys but at the very least a reimbursement for the Uber would be nice and compensation for the loss of sleep if possible. This experience deserves some news air time though because I expected better from you Greyhound. Maybe I'll call my reporter friend at WHDH ‍ but rn I just pray this rattling bus gets us to NJ in one piece. That was only the ride there. Ride coming back made an unexpected stop which made us 30 minutes late which then made us miss our commuter rail.

I was in Boston, planning to check out of my hotel in the morning, and stressing about a full day…read moreof sight-seeing ahead of me with no place to store my luggage. Keeping it at the hotel would have been majorly inconvenient. The hotel was quite a hike away from the train station I would be departing from. A few google searches revealed that there was a place I could store my luggage just adjacent to the train station -- score! You actually have to go to the bus terminal to find Greyhound Package Express. From the street level, go up to the 2nd or 3rd floor. Walk towards the round atrium and turn left -- an elevator should be on your left that will go up to the 5th floor. Take this elevator (or -- if you want some exercise -- take the stairs just next to the elevator) up to the 5th floor. You'll exit just at Greyhound Package Express. For only $5 a bag, you can stash your luggage here between checking out of your hotel and exploring all that Boston has to offer. My sight-seeing was far from over on my day of departure, so the $5 was chump change in comparison to lugging my suitcase around or figuring out what to do with it at the hotel. Be forewarned that it's a cash-only business, but there is an ATM in the lobby that you can use. It only dispenses $20 bills, so buy yourself a snack in the adjacent convenience mart to break the bill and make your life easier. Pay when you drop your bags off. Just like a coat check, you'll receive a tag, and so will your luggage. Keep your tag safe, as you'll need it to retrieve your luggage at the end of the day. All said and done, this is a handy well-kept secret in Boston, but one that I'm happy to share after the great experience I had!

I had 6 boxes shipped from Boston to Oakland, and had an excellent experience with Greyhound…read morePackage Express service. Per another reviewer, I opted for large plastic totes from target ( about $5 each) instead of cardboard boxes that can be easier to puncture, smashed, or wet and damaged. I did not fill the boxes to more than 30ish pounds and used almost 3 roles of duct tape to secure the totes. I wasnt leaving anything to chance! After I paid for shipping through busfreighter, I attached the gpx labels clearly on the totes and just dropped them off at the greyhound station in Boston. The tracking was available and I checked every few days to see where my totes were, but it really wasn't necessary since after 7 days, I got a call from the Oakland Greyhound Station that my totes had arrived and were ready for pickup. The totes were in good condition with little if any damage. Amazing! This service was cheap, convenient, and friendly! If you are looking to ship things that aren't time sensitive and breakable, Greyhound is the way to go!
