I am so bummed. I love Jacks but I went surfboard shopping. I went upstairs and started looking at new boards. New boards are pricey and I was ready. A sales representative came and was so degrading and the attitude he presented was nothing like I had experienced since I was kid. I went across the street to HSS and met a guy named Carl who was amazingly helpful and insightful. They won my business. Jacks I loved you but your board salesman lost you guys $800. Big disappointment as a new customer. Bought a new surfboard with em and my First one hour surf sesh one of the fin box carved in and had to stop right away since the board wasn't stable. On a pretty easy spot to surf btw Called the customer service but didn't get ANY help at all. I came in at 8AM this morning and purchased the mashup. Jack's has a great selection with many different board sizes available. While the boards are great the customer service was terrible. None of the many employees talking and drinking coffee (I was the only one there at opening) offered to help me. When I asked someone where the traction pads were the employee seemed burdened and passed me off to another employee, then to one more who just pointed "there" and walked away. The cashier that checked me out had an attitude of are you going to buy something or not. I'll stick to buying my boards at the rip curl store in San Clemente in the future.The selection is small but the staff are friendly and actually ask you questions to help you find what you need, and they don't press you to buy stuff/ make you feel like you're wasting their time when you spend $1,000. read more

I think Jacks is great. They have a ton of selection and really nice people working there. I bought a shirt down at the beach during the US Open, and accidentally grabbed the wrong size. I stopped by Jacks a day or so after the open and met Nadia and Juan. They were both working outside and very friendly and eager to help me out. I showed my receipt and they found the exact shirt in the size I needed. I traded it in no charge since it was unworn with tags. Easy. This place is a staple in the Huntington Beach and the SoCal surf world. I've been a fan since I moved to CA from NY 20 years ago. I've picked up clothes, wetsuits and a board or two and I've always been happy with the gear and service. I think any neg reviews come from overly pampered impatient generations in our society at this day and age. Not all but most. Cry babies. Most who have never tried to run a business. Never shopping here again!! Worst customer service EVER! Save yourself the headache and go across the street to HSS Huntington surf and sports. Purchased ultra high end expensive wetsuit from this place and they refuse to honor the warranty repairs on the suit after the seams busted due to quality issues. Same thing happened to one of my other suits I purchased from HSS and they honored the warranty no issues. HSS was very pleasant and easy to work with nothing like the crap service at Jack's. When something seems too good to be true... I drove all the way from San Clemente to HB to buy a board that was "basically brand new" (I posted the add on the photos). Nate told me he was just too big for this board and to go in and talk with Marty. When I came in Marty showed me the board and it was on a rack with someone sanding the tail down. This board was not as described. It had repaired dings on the rail, stress cracks and 3 busted fin boxes. I told Marty that this was not as stated and I had driven all the way from San Clemente and was given a "shoulder shrug". They were sanding the entire underside of the tail and there was an open soft spot behind the rear fin box. I'm pissed that I spent two hours of my day on this, drove 70 miles round trip and paid toll on the toll road for this. My most recent visit today was the last time i'll be giving a dime of my money to this company. Upon entering, the two girls working in the women's department did not greet me, but rather looked me up and down and gave me a very dirty look. I made my way to the men's section already thrown aback only to find even worse service. The floor was full of employees and hardly any customers. Not one employee asked if I needed help nor did they greet me. While shopping, a male employee shouted, "I'm sorry to do this to you, but someone just called asking if we still had an item in stock so you need to find it" and the female employee responded with, "why did you even pick up the phone?". It was an uncomfortable, unprofessional and inappropriate conversation to witness. My boyfriend and I made our way to the register after an hour of being within the store and not having received any communication from the Jack's employees. I had to get the cashier's attention that we wanted to pay as she was very occupied with sitting and doing nothing. It's unfortunate to come to a store you've shopped at for years to experience such a lack of customer service. It isn't my job to ask for help, it is the employee's position to be there to do what they're paid for. I own a women's clothing boutique and would be mortified and ashamed if my employees treated a customer this way. It isn't a good look for the company as your employees are a reflection of you. read more

On one of those "window shopping" experiences, I happened to come across a surfboard that I had my eye on. No other store had it in stock. So I had Jack's hold it for me. Being fearful that someone else might snag it, I asked if I needed to put a deposit. I was told "no need to give a deposit. It'll be here when I come back. They can hold it for 3 days." I went back in the AM on Day 3 to pick it up and to my dismay, the board was no longer there ....... TOTALLY NOT COOL !!!! .... I guess the sticky note with my name on it didn't stop Jack's from selling it to someone else. Well, lesson learned. Next time, put a deposit OR just don't walk out the door without it !!!! ..... But then again, moving forward, I probably won't be buying my surfboard from them. read more

I tried to exchange shorts I had gotten as a gift for either store credit or an item of equal value however they were unable to help due to the item no longer being in stock. That's my fault how? All I wanted was a gift I'll actually be able to wear and sadly all I was left with was the displeasant attitude of Mallory (manager) who really made it seem like she tried to be helpful...NOT. Came here today to buy shoes for my 5 year old son. We were helped by Rider, he went back several times and pulled out different styles and sizes for us until the little one had the fit and color he loved. Store is super organized and they have many brands like Thrasher, Santa cruise, salt life etc. they also have sizes toddler to adult, men's /women's. There is a skate board shop inside. They sell many different apparel and skate and surf items. All the employees are friendly at the cash register to. They are often crowded but the lines are never long.
