The venue itself (although identikit to the rest of the chains) is modern and relaxed, with earthy pastel tones and chunky furniture, as well as the kitchen being on open view, with the grill taking stage right by the 'viewing' hatch, allowing the sights and smells of the cooking to drift through the dining area, as well as cooking chickens on a rotisserie spit for the same effect. It works well really to be honest! On the opposite side of the restaurant is the main bar area, which has the same decor and styling as the restaurant, but focussed more on relaxed social seating. There's plenty of parking here, as it shares a car park with a hotel and another restaurant, it's also within a 5 minute walk from Horwich Parkway Rail Station.

It also now has a drinks vending machine with unlimited re-fills. I drank far too much strawberry Diet Pepsi! My friend always has the half chicken half ribs, it never disappoints and today I went with the chicken stack. For £9.99 there was so much chicken and a generous portion of fries. I couldn't finish it. It was a busy evening and our server Jamie was just being trained up and he did really well, although we were waiting a while for the bill. I'm knocking off a star because the 'help yourself' sections were quite messy, but always well stocked....if it were me I'd clean up spills etc at the same time as replenishing the salads etc, but this wasn't done.

Actually quite surprised to report that my most recent trip to the Brocket was an enjoyable one!…read moreWith the other half being from Wigan originally and only living down the road, we used to frequent it quite often; whether it was for the quiz, a quiet drink, or family gathering, it pretty much ticked all the boxes. This weekend's trip was to spend some time with grandparents and, with grandad being partial to a Wetherspoons' mixed grill, the Brocket was simply the best option for all parties involved. Roughly a 15 minute walk from the centre, we managed to avoid any big crowds and quickly settled on a table near the front windows (the back can feel a bit dark as natural light reduces the further back you sit!) The menu was standard Wetherspoons fair, though it's changed somewhat since we used to visit, with new items including burritos, hot dogs, and more pasta/salad options. I'm not sure whether I agree with the calorie count being listed next to everything as, personally, it takes the fun out of eating. They continue to offer drinks with food, though they're not great options to be honest e.g. only one 'proper' cider on draught and only alcohol-free cider in bottles. I went for the burrito with chilli con carne and it was actually a good little meal. Served with tortilla chips, salsa, guac, sour cream and a few jalapenos, it had a good level of spice and was a good lunchtime portion. I pinched a few chips and onion rings from the other half's plate, and have to say that the onion rings were probably some of the best we've had in a while! When you want something simple and pretty tasty, Wetherspoons is a solid bet. The Brocket is also a good option when you want to be out of the centre, especially on a Friday/Saturday night.

Myself and my colleagues have been regulars at Rift & Co (previously Revolution) for about 3 years…read more It's had gone through a lot of changes and the decor is now cool and modern plus the service is excellent. However the once outstanding food has gone seriously down hill. The portion sizes have dramatically reduced as has the quality. Once serving juicey nocarella olives.. They are now tasteless jarred ones, the generous king prawn flatbread is now smaller with fewer and cold prawns and served on a tortilla wrap rather than a large warm and fresh garlic flatbread. There are many details such as these throughout the menu that has completely put us off. Also Rift needs to decide if it's attracting the after work meal crowd or loud drinking crowd.. It currently seems very confused by trying to do both and pleasing very few. The privilege card system has now been revoked which provided drinks deals and 25% off food. This kept us coming back (when the food was better) plus recommending Rift to other friends and colleagues. The fantastic and attentive staff meant this review wasn't a 2 star.. They asked our group to review Rift so hope this helps make some changes!

First of all, the place is decorated spiffingly. Literally. Spiffingly. It's astonishingly gorgeous, just my kind of quirky decor - a ceiling plastered in newspaper, lovely quaint wooden features, neutral and pastel colours... the whole thing looks like it could have come out of a Hans Christian Anderson story. There are plenty of French favourites on offer like starters of a twice baked cheese soufflé, French onion soup gratin, tartlet with spring vegetables like asparagus, mushrooms and spinach, and more unusual options such as black pudding with chicken roulade, Thai fishcakes, potted shrimp with warm brown toast and hot smoked salmon or tempura veg. I'd call it a more Modern European affair to be honest with its additional pastas and risottos (the spaghetti with salmon and lobster is just heavenly indulgence) and you can have these in small or large portions. The sharing platters are excellent value and mains like lamb shank, duck breast, baked chicken, pork trio, a filo parcel of sun-blushed tomato, goat's cheese and spinach, all of which occupy the fusion cuisine spectrum Le Frog seems to operate within. Oh and there's steaks for the super carnivorous. The side orders aren't just supporting actors here, they're stars. Veg are cooked perfectly al dente, the broccoli hollandaise is delicious, I'd highly recommend the breads with dips and you can get potatoes in many forms - French fries, Cajun fries, garlic and chive mash and even the garlic bread comes in three varieties. All of these are stonkingly good value at under £3 each! Sorry about the dreadful pun, but I'm hopping crazy for Le Frog. See if you agree.

However I was told the menu also carries a Mediterranean twist which worked in its favour!! I was unable to find my peace with the decor of the place, yes the decor is quirky but is it cool?? I wasn't so sure.....you'll have to decide yourself. The food, well again I must say if I'm honest I have had better. It lacked substance I thought. Perhaps the French have over the years had so much red wine with their food that their taste buds have been filed down. My marinated breast of chicken lacked a bit of umph!! The lemon, thymed and garlic chicken was served on roast vegetable cous cous with chive creme fraiche. I'm not sorry at all that my taste buds are absolute whores!!!!! Yes they are , they have been around the block and indulged in every fit cuisine around and had their way ever which way. This meal didn't quite do it for me. Having said that I did only try one of the mains and I'd like to try some of the other ones. Perhaps an update is needed. I'm sorry froggy it takes more than a decent decor to impress me son!!!
