From the moment we called, we were treated with a beyond curt irritation at the fact we were even had the audacity to order food. We ordered some garlic fingers which several sets of friends have told us in the past were outstanding. In fact, we have been told on many separate occasions that Jack's is famous for their garlic fingers.
Upon our arrival to the restaurant as we waited in line to pay some teens who were ahead of us had come in to pick up their order of garlic fingers and they we're treated with disdain, and then told by staff that they didn't order any and were sent away. We were flabbergasted! Even if you didn't have the order wouldn't you apologize, say you must have misplaced the order and then offer to make them and then apologize again for the fact that they had to wait?!?!? Nope, apparently not! You just suggest the kids can't operate a phone properly and that they didn't order them at all, and send them along not even attempting to rectify the situation.
When it came our turn to pay, we too were treated as if we had made up the fact we had placed an order. We were asked sharply in an accusatory manner what out phone number was. Upon answering correctly they seemed to be satisfied that we had actually called and placed an order. Is this a common small town scam we began to wonder? Pretending to have placed an order at a restaurant?
So finally after all this, we had paid and were sitting at a table near the counter looking at each other in disbelief that we were in this place where customer service had seemingly come to die. We chatted, did the coffee news trivia, read from the Mount A student newspaper and Here magazine and finally after what seemed as a time excruciatingly longer than the 20 minutes we had been expecting to wait, Trevor stood up and then saw that our fingers were boxed and sitting on top of the oven. They never even notified us they were ready, and they knew were sitting there.
Now, I know for some of you, the devil's advocate is jumping in, and you're thinking, "Maybe they we're concerned that you would burn your mouth and we're simply holding back the order for your safety?" Nope, as by the time we got them they were actually quite cold, so it was far longer than acceptable cooling time. Oh, and did they apologize for not seeing us and giving us our fingers late?
