Buyers beware! My wife and I had a very bad experience with Taos Print and its owner Gak Stonn…read morethat I wish to share with you. We ordered custom photo prints on metal, total cost about $1,000. Gak provided a shipping postage estimate of $150, which was paid, but the postage on the package, when received, was under $50. He never called the $100 discrepancy to my attention and would have pocketed had I not called it to his attention. Then he nickel and dimed by agreeing only to return $85. Even though I told him we live in the tropics, he never disclosed that his print on metal product uses a plastic laminate (something I discovered only as a result of accidentally dropping one of the photos). As laminates tend to peel in humid clients, we never would have purchased his prints if he had told us that. He denied that this would make any difference, and claimed he was contacting the manufacturer of his system to verify. He later sent me a partial email from the company that conspicuously said nothing about the laminates in humidity. I contacted his company directly and was told by their Sales Director just the opposite, in writing: "I do recommend NOT using the laminate in the tropics." (Capital letters added.) Gak offered to provide me a partial refund if I mailed back the prints, but continually refused to specify the amount he would refund. His last statement was "we will refund a majority of the charges, minus damaged pieces, image development, and already refunded monies." He wouldn't define "majority" or how much he was intending to withhold for "image development" -- something he had not charged for in our over-priced purchase. I thought it would be foolhardy to return the photos him with the unduly vague promise as to what we would receive in refund. So, all we can say, is "be very careful" in transacting business with Taos Print and Gak Stonn. He seems very nice, and his pictures look nice, but his business practices and ethics are sorely lacking. PS: This is my first post ever on Yelp.
