In an area that features many great playgrounds and parks to take your family to, Innovation Hills has always stood out. There is a lack of options for younger children though (no infant swings?). The three stars? One of the new features of this park is the addition of Park Mobile being introduced for the main parking lot. Signs everywhere reminding you that you better have paid your $1.50 an hour! There is of course a free dirt lot across the busy road for your convenience. Or a parking 'annual pass' you can purchase from the Rochester Hills website. Our society struggles with the concept of 'the third place'. Parks and playgrounds are a haven for families and a community builder outside of work and home. What in the world is the motivation behind suddenly charging for parking? 1 - The City of Rochester Hills wants to prioritize park access for its citizens? Charging for parking doesn't keep out non-residents and in fact just causes Rochester Hills citizens to pay more for something they are already paying for. 2 - The park is often extremely crowded so charging for parking may reduce visitor count? If this was the motivation I am confident this strategy is not working. 3 - We want to encourage more families to park in the dirt lot across the street and attempt to cross a highway? I have more faith in humanity than that. Oh, I think I got it! To quote Tim Robinson's sketch 'The Driving Crooner' - "I gotta figure out how to make money on this thing..it's simply TOO GOOD!"

Where we parked there was a path to get to the falls. They are not really falls, just a man made dam with concrete steps on several levels to check out the water. I could see people were able to have canoes on the lake and there was a beach and playground off to the distance on the other side. Another part of the park maybe? A lot of people were walking around with their kids or come go fishing. So it was a nice family area. I realize I am more of a resort pool with a lazy river girly, so I am not in love with the many swarms of gnats but that is me. If you are outdoorsy, this is a nice place to visit. Paired with Huckleberry railroad would be perfect.

The main walking path is probably around 1/3 of a mile, so a quick walk; but there are a few trails that branch off, leading to a children's play area, courts, or nearby municipal buildings. There are many benches available to sit and enjoy the scenery, or watch the ducks; the lake has multiple fountains, and 3 different docks to enjoy. A stunning park for photo opportunities as well, and they hold a lot of community events, which is a big plus in my book. Definitely recommend checking it out if you get the chance.

As soon as you drive in, this magnificent (perspective of a kid) playground appears to the left. It's even called the Kids Kingdom. My kids had a blast. Even my 20 month old had a wonderful time. We brought some PIZZA, ate on one of the nice picnic tables within Kids Kingdom. However, I must admit I had a specific intent for checking out this park; disc golf!! There is an 18 hole disc golf course. There are plenty of trees, dog legs (left and right turns... not actual legs of dogs), and water hazards to make it interesting. There is a nice variety of long and short throws. The tee pads were extremely easy to find; however, the baskets from the tee pads weren't as easy to find. If I had the map, that I attached to this review, from the beginning it would have been a different story. I skipped one basket because I assumed the drive was a little longer. I ended up throwing it 3/4 of the way to the next basket. No worries... I'll know better next time. I didn't know what PAR was for the baskets, so I assumed everything was PRO PAR and ended with 1 over for the 18 holes. I know there is a lot of room for improvement. I will definitely take my family to this park again!! My wife also wanted me to mention on this review that the bathrooms were nice and right next to the playground. My 6 year old didn't realize the bathrooms were so close and found a tree out in the distance. You'd think he was born in a barn or something....

You're able to park on the side while you unload your kayak or unload right into the water if you have a boat. During the holiday week - there were barely alot of people there which is awesome. My friend and I just wanted some where to float and chat. She repeated like 15 times while we were on the lake.... "I really like this spot". Bathroom were clean and didn't smell any odor - definitely a plus in my book. Please note - recreation passport is required; it's a honor system if you don't have one. Sleepy Hollow has plenty of camping for RV's , tents , and a couple of cabins to rent. Sleepy Hollow has a great beach/picnic areas with bathrooms the Park is very well maintained. Unruly wild kids in the water throwing things around thinking it is funny if it hits other kids or adults. Even some of the adults show up acting crazy, and some of the adults not supervising their kids. There is not much room to swim either. The cost for the season is 35 dollars or 5 dollars a day and from what I saw, NO park manager around to check on things..So if you are looking for a relaxing, safe, enjoyable time at a lake, don't waste your time and money here. Especially NOT on a weekend.

My little one is 5 and it is rated for ages 5-12. This structure has several slides, swings, rock walls, monkey bars, and other "challenges". My son had a great time, but was definitely timid at times. This is a great structure for him to grow and learn. There is also a playground specifically for those in wheelchairs, etc. I love to see the inclusive design to allow all children to enjoy the playground. Nearby, is a pavilion with indoor bathroom facilities. They are very clean and well-kept.
