Definitely head straight to the bargains table (just before the frozen items) - cheap fruit and vegetables (all packaged) at great prices. Our favourites include the kiwifruit, courgettes and green beans. However it does vary day to day. Continuing with the bargains, they also do a few different specials every week. Lately, it has been large bags of apples priced between $1.49 and $1.99. Great for stewing and for the past month I have been having it on porridge! They also sell a range of Chinese dumplings (which are delicious), buns and lots of frozen seafood, plus, wait for it, KIMCHI! So exciting!!! I bought a huge container for $10 and have been putting it on salads. Parking is plentiful and a bonus that it is right next to a Chinese bakehouse, two car washes, and around the corner from a huge Countdown - handy!

I know my household is not the only one who will miss them but they do get mad busy sometimes so I imagine their flash new shop will be worth the wait. The thing I love about this place is mainly the fact that the family that run it are so friendly and hardworking. I also know that anything I buy from here will be good - if it's not perfectly fresh and tasty, they don't sell it. Everyone has had those times with the bad bag of kiwifruit or floury apples or whatever, but if that happened here they would be so embarrassed and no doubt give you your money back. It's that kind of place; they CARE. The pricing is excellent and I've seen them help people carry their stuff to the car, give free pieces of fruit to cute littlies and genuinely be a cornerstone to the Balmoral community - it's like the pub for busy mums; if I haven't seen someone in a while, odds are I will run into them here.

They sell a lot of more tropical fruits that the supermarkets do not, due largely to the fact that a large proportion of the Asian population shop here and these more unusual fruits are what they know and love. This therefore makes getting your fruit and vegetables more exciting. They also seem to have extremely large kumara here, absolutely huge. That aside, great store. They also stock Asian grocery items like noodles, miso, cookies, drinks, dried fruits, crackers and so on. Other things like Swiss chocolate, honey, Danny's pita bread, coconut butter and fortune cookies can be found here too. The staff are really polite, the quality of the produce is good and so are the prices. There is lots of parking on site too which is great because parking in Newmarket can be a bit of a hassle so if you're passing through give it a go.

I also buy stuff like coconut cream, curry pastes, canned vegetables and other stuff from here at good prices, and they have some drink fridges in the back with a weird and wonderful range of different Asian drinks. The staff here are always friendly and efficient, and the store itself is clean and well stocked.

Well firstly because places like this are almost always cheaper, and Fresh Fruit World is no exception. But also, sometimes you just don't want to have to deal with the supermarket. You don't want access to every product under the sun, you just want four items and three of them are vegetables and one of them is bread. You don't want to have to go through the entire supermarket just for that, and that's why Fresh Fruit World is so ideally placed where it is. Also the staff are nice, at least when I've been there.

Several times I've asked if they have extra stock out the back of a particular item and staff have always been friendly and courteous. The layout is easy to navigate and the produce always stacked nicely on display. They also have a decent selection of nuts and dried fruits, as well as ethnic foods. I like to buy my wraps from here, and they have delicious fresh bagels and paninis for sale too. Also check out the frozen dumplings etc in the cool stores at the front of the shop!

There is also a range of Italian and Japanese ingredients, oils, pastas and canned legumes. They stock fresh wraps, pita bread and they sell tofu. You could probably do most of your shopping here. If this is sounding too healthy there is also a junky section with candy, corn chips and cookie time cookies and I suspect they sell quite a bit of that stuff. Pepperdews, pomegranate molasses, Ceres organics muesli for only $9 and literally the biggest jar of gherkins I have ever seen - Bulk Food Savings was a delight to explore. I was stoked to find pure vanilla extract and vanilla pods in this store - they were much cheaper than at places like Nosh, and are great to use in baking. The only downside of Bulk Foods was the staff. They weren't particularly inviting nor were they very friendly, but hey - when the variety of food is that good and the prices are so low, who cares? You can't have everything! Bonus: It smells fantastic in Bulk Foods - all the different spices merge in to one mouth-watering fragrance that instantly inspires you to cook delicious Indian curries.
