I even dare to say it was most likely for something more nefarious, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I won't be discussing any politics or racial issues, but this place is a powder keg about to blow! Avoid at all costs!

It's located at a dead end in the middle of a nice residential area. The parking is basically just the dead end itself so it's very limited. The park is just a couple of minutes from Columbus Parkway. This park is so clean and new feeling. There is a nice field, just big enough to play a game of catch or to fly kites, etc. I do not recommend baseball/softball here, it's not big enough for that...maybe just whiffleball. There are two play structures which look very new and clean and are graffiti-free. One is designated for little kids and the other for big kids. I saw 2 bbq pits and 4 picnic tables located by the play structures but there are more further from the structures. There is also a walking path and a water fountain, I did not see a restroom though. Northgate Neighborhood Park is so nice and kid friendly. My nephew loved running around the field playing catch and sliding down the slides. He had a ball! This is definitely a park worth checking out! Love it!!!!

Well, let me share that this place is magical. There's something here. I've been carrying around some deep negative emotions, pertaining to loss and grief, and this place, after walking around and letting myself roam free, was able to clear my head. It's no wonder it's in the middle of Vallejo. I'm sure I'm not the only not first one who has had some deep issues on mind while being here. It's a cleansing place. Before walking inside, I bowed to the forest and allowed my gut to guide me. Alert. Coffee in hand. I'm so grateful. After the small walk and journey, I bowed again in reverence. Cleanse. Enjoy. Also, there's plenty of parking and flushing restrooms, although not exactly clean. Just don't sit on the toilet. Also, who sits on public restrooms anyway? We all know it's not the boujeest of places. And maybe don't come after dark. Follow the light.

Every once in awhile, I will read about something in Vallejo that gets me super excited to live…read morehere and the possibilities for change in our community. In my son's backpack, I found a flier announcing the preservation of the City Park down on Louisiana and Sacramento. Come to find out, this park has been around since 1868 and is one of the oldest city parks in the Western United States. I used to live in this 'hood and this is one of two parks on LA that's nice to hang out and share a sack lunch with family and/or friends. The flier details extravagant plans for a 5-day build that will happen April 29 - May 3, 2009. The new park promises to have such cool things as a rock wall, tunnels, climbing walls, tree forts, bridges, and the traditional swings and monkey bars. Plus a whole lot more!! How EXCITING! Now that my son is getting older, I dont have much time, if any, to take advantage of it. But how wonderful for the up and coming kids of our community. No longer will we have to trek to BANISHA to the "cooler" parks they do tend to have. The best part about it is that all of us have an opportunity to be a part of it! You can vpay a small fee to have your name on the fence, volunteer your time, or your cash to help make it happen! For more details: http://www.preservecitypark.org/
