Sandy Creek has a wonderful walking trail that runs through a small wooded area. This year Emory added a small splash pad and restrooms to the park. They are also adding 16 picnic tables. I hope in the future they will redo the playground, but we will see. It is a great park for exercise, children to play, fishing or to just sit and relax.

The Good: it's gotta a huge heated pool that's only $2 to swim in, basketball court and life guards on duty. One of them was nice enough to let us follow him here from Harry Meyer cause his boss told him it was closed to public. The Bad: they kicked us out of Harry Meyer to come swim here, it's cool but it's awkward. It almost seems like you're in the corner houses backyard. The Ugly: "dad what's all those black things floating" Those are field crickets, beetles and cockroaches son. Let me clean it. So I cleaned it. Probably about 5 lbs of dead bugs. I'll spare you the picture but if you want to see the mound of dead bugs, go to where the pool net is on the east side of the pump house, and you'll see my evidence. Being a pest control operator, it didn't bother me removing the 1000s of dead crickets, but I can see how this would turn someone off.

Definitely a hit with the kiddo! We took our 6yo daughter on a Sunday afternoon and she loved it. We saw alligators, capybaras, all sorts of weird fowl, goats, monkeys, a pig, an emu, some zebras (they were far off in an area that wasn't accessible), bears, baboons, roosters, a donkey, a miniature pony, peacocks, and tortoises. Probably the coolest thing outside the baby animal room was the alligator feeding. One of the handlers came out with a bucket of raw chicken and some gator knowledge, and we stood just feet away as these massive gators hissed and jumped and came up out of the water to eat. It was so awesome! In addition to the animals, there was also a small playground with ropes to swing on and climb. On our way out we stopped in the baby animal area and got to hold ferrets, a bearded dragon, two snakes, a baby coati, and a baby alligator. There was also a sweet baby muntjac deer you could pet (but not hold). We took a lot of really fun pictures. It was a great way to end the visit. The only drawback is that the grounds don't seem well-maintained and need mowing and other work. The barns were really dirty and covered in cobwebs. There were giant tortoise turds on the walkway. One of the feeding tubes for the bears was broken. You can tell the place is in need of some repairs. I'm sure it's because all their profits go to the animals and not the facilities. It didn't prevent us from having a great time and we would definitely visit again!

The baby monkey was extremely cute but we were not allowed to hold it. I was pretty upset inside and I did mention it and he said if I could hang around longer then he could possibly make it work, but it was 1PM and I didn't eat yet.. so we left. I just wish it was a different experience. Still thankful I got to touch the monkey.. & all the staff was extremely kind.

Kids were running, yes I wrote running, out on the floor chasing each other, playing tag, taking each other's hats or belongings and playing keep away. They would dodge in and out of people who were wearing skates. The kids would skate in the wrong direction and go head on with others, strangers included. Kids would be wrestling with each other, some even had skates on. There were no employees monitoring the rink floor. Someone in the snack bar would occasionally announce on the intercom to "stop running on the floor". That obviously worked so well. All that chaos aside, the music was so boring. Slow, boring country songs. When we made a song request of a clean pop song, the employee just appeared annoyed. Our request hadn't been played. The chaos became too much and we left, with a refund. I truly hope the owner takes our concerns under advisement and makes some changes because their business is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

We've always enjoyed going to Harbor Bay Marina during the summer, but today's experience was…read morereally disappointing. A few weeks ago, we arrived to launch our boat, and there was no one in the office to collect the launch fee. Rather than leaving without paying, we left a $20 bill with a note. The launch fee is $12, and when we called the next day, we were told we had an $8 credit. Today, we returned, paid our launch fee, and asked to use our $8 credit. Unfortunately, the lady manager was incredibly rude--not only to us, but also to the employee working in the office. The tone, attitude, and overall way the situation was handled were completely unnecessary. We always try to do the right thing, and that's exactly what we did by paying even when no one was there. It's disappointing to be treated with such disrespect after making the effort to be honest. I hope Harbor Bay Marina takes customer service more seriously because no customer--or employee--deserves to be treated that way.
