Unfortunately, our experience this time around was terrible -- I cannot in good faith recommend them anymore. Giving two stars (rather than one) because the work quality was very good. Subs did a great job, were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. In the end, we didn't go over budget. But we paid a lot of money and experienced a lot of unnecessary delay and drama. In short, our project was a victim of poor communication and lack of ownership taking responsibility. We went through four project managers: the first went MIA on us, delaying the demo start by 6 weeks; the second hadn't read any of the project briefing and let us to believe none of our materials had been ordered; the third was too busy with other projects to make ours a priority; and the fourth was brand new, didn't really know what he was doing, and wasn't getting the oversight he needed from leadership. To the company's credit, they didn't end up charging us for project management--as we'd been doing a big portion of it ourselves. Ultimately, a project that should've taken 8-10 weeks took 16 weeks (and that's after the 6-week-delayed start). The thing that was most frustrating was that while Dan was fairly responsive to our outreach when things were regularly going wrong, he was also regularly pretty dismissive of our concerns and didn't take responsibility for all of the mistakes and screw-ups that were the result of his team's failings--failing to read the brief; failing to install underfloor heating and electrical that was in the brief, resulting in ripping up tile that had just been laid; failing to inspect goods on arrival so that they could be replaced when broken without delaying the project; failing to tell us about budget implications of design choices, etc. Dan will say I was mad when things went wrong, and that some of those things were out of their control. Yes, I was mad. But mostly I was disappointed that I trusted this company, and they took advantage of that trust.

I want to write this review about Ochoa Bros. because it is important they get the recognition they…read moredeserve. Plainly put, they are The Best. If you don't want to read through my long-ish review below, here's the TLDR version: their work on my tornado-damaged home was exceptional - in the quality of work, in the quality of the people working, and in their sincere concern that every single aspect was done with precision, on time, and on budget. That said, my home was badly damaged during the March 3, 2020 tornado that came through the Germantown neighborhood of North Nashville. I needed a new roof, which included repair work to damaged attic beams, new gutters, new siding, a new fence, outdoor electrical work, outdoor carpentry work, a new back door, and whole house painting, including trim, windows, doors, and porch. I emailed with Aaron initially and met him in person a few days later, and of all the contractors that I had spoken to up to that point, Aaron was the most approachable, kind, knowledgeable, and responsive. After I decided that Ochoa Bros. were the ones for the job, Aaron and his team prepared quotes and contracts within a day's time and were ready to start the job immediately. And they did. After making color selections for paint and shingles, and one day after signing everything, a large construction dumpster was delivered, and demo crews were on-site to remove debris. 3 days later the roofing crew was on site to complete beam repairs. The next day they finished the rest of the roof - and it was flawless. Something that made me feel almost immediately at ease was the fact that Aaron wanted to put a huge Ochoa Bros. sign in front of my house during the entirety of the construction and repair. He actively wanted people to drive by and think, "oh wow, that looks great!" and he wanted their name attached to that. I think for someone to actively want to show off their work like that reflects a confidence level that also made me feel good about the project. But as soon as I saw the quality of the work being delivered, I was already a believer. Every step of the construction and repair went smoothly. The siding team were done in a matter of 2 days. Flawless work. The fence was personally built by my site manager, Michael Thompson, who deserves his own special recognition for being so amazing. He was on my property, checking in with me, literally every single day of the project, and hand-built the fence around my property - that included 3 gates and a custom enclosure to hide my recycling and trash bins. And again, all of it was done quickly, and with obsessive and exacting precision. The painting crew were there and done in 2 days. The outdoor electrical was subcontracted to Frog Electric, and they were great also. The gutters were hung in less than 2 hours. All in all, the entire repair took Ochoa Bros. - from start to finish - less than 2 weeks. I think my house was the first house in the entire Germantown neighborhood to be completely repaired in such a short amount of time. All in all, it was a dreamy and perfect experience. Aaron was also on site many days, and personally hung the new back door for me as well. His administrative team was also extremely responsive and easy to work with, and corresponded directly with my claims adjuster, keeping me on copy at all steps. I really just cannot say enough about the quality of their work, their team, and the professionalism, pride, and true excellence they demonstrate at every step of the process. The stress and uncertainty and fear that came as a result of that devastating tornado was completely wiped away when Ochoa Bros. came in to do the job. It's taken me a minute to write this review, but in the months since they completed the work, I have had no less than 15 strangers on the street tell me how awesome the house looks, not to mention the gushing compliments from neighbors and friends and residents that have seen the house as well. My deepest and sincere thanks go to Aaron Ochoa, Michael Thompson, Alma Chantaca, Paula Kiest, and everyone on their team for the incredible work.
