My favourite hotel in Amersfoort!…read more Here you will feel right at home. Situated in the heart of the historic city of Amersfoort, on one of the beautiful squares. What it lacks in luxury, it more than makes up in atmosphere. The 'Lange Jan' (or 'Long John') takes its name from the huge medieval tower next door. Easy to find you way home to ;-). It doesn't have a lobby. Instead, you have to check in at the bar of the friendly pub underneath the hotel. If you want to explore the beautiful old city of Amersfoort with al its restaurants, shops and museums, and not spent too much time on your hotel room, this is your best value. The friendly staff will show you all the highlights (also the 'off the beaten track' places normally reserved for locals), but in truth you can easily spend a day or two in the immediate vicinity on the square where this hotel is conviently situated.

The College Hotel is located in a historic building with a monumental status. It was constructed in…read more1894 and has exclusively served as a school building. When it converted to a hotel in 2004, the architectural status required many of the elements to stay; the hotel has 40 different authentic rooms, no two rooms are the same. At one point this was a boy's school, so there are many touches where the "naughty schoolboys" spray painted the paintings or marked the school tables (wink wink). Our suite is comfortable with high ceilings, large windows, large bathroom (with a desk), complimentary mini bar, personalized room scent, etc. It's conveniently located to the Museumplein, very accommodating staff.

This is a nice hotel architecturally, but this may have been the worst hotel room I have ever…read morestayed in. Attic floor room with 20 foot high ceilings and a window so high up you couldn't look outside. There were two steps up from the entrance and bathroom level. I guess they were afraid people would trip in the dark, so motion sensors illuminate the area whenever there is any movement - so lights are going on and off all night - maybe mice? There was no single space to lay out a suitcase or any items, no luggage rack or counter space in the bathroom at all. We should have asked for another room, but we just arrived from an overnight flight and needed to sleep. This room reminded me of where Momi and Rodolfo lived in La Boheme. This was not Marriott quality at all. This was just attic space they made into a rentable room.

Easy to find and dont have to travel very far from the door to the check in desk. The rooms are pretty nice. There are switches everywhere by the bed. These are to control lighting in the room. There's also a fridge, so i can keep my food from spoiling. The bathroom is nice. I got a shower instead of a tub. Not a big deal. My toilet flushed. Theres a big mirror with a sink and faucet. Towels, soap and shampoo. This is the perfect place to put my head down and rest. Yes it's a bit far from amsterdam centre, but i dont mind. Ive been there done that, let me get my rest so i can kick butt in the workplace. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. The hotel was very far out of the city center. A taxi ride…read moreto dam square was approx 25 euros; To the airport it was 35 euros. Bikes are available to rent for 16 euro daily and I would highly suggest doing this. Otherwise, it's a short walk to the tram and in 40 minutes you'll be in Dam square. We had a modern well designed executive room that was spacious. However, it was a horrible room as water poured from the bathroom ceiling 2 of the 7 nights we were there, this left us without hot water for morning showers. There wasn't any rooms above us, there was a problem with the pipes. After complaining to the hotel, they said someone would check it out. They didn't change our room or provide other options. The breakfast offered was decent seeing there is nothing around unless you take a 5 minute walk. Some of the items offered included fruit, yogurt, cereal, boiled eggs, bacon, a variety of breads and jams.
