This time the clerk completed the transaction after giving us back our card. They decided to slip in a tip onto our receipt thinking we wouldn't review those details later on. We never approved for that to be added when we paid for our order. I did bring this to the attention to the manager on duty over the phone before returning there to get a refund. I appreciate them willing to work with us, but their silence over the phone once I told them about it was incredibly concerning. I really love going here, and this has never happened before. We normally don't grab smoothies later in the night either. I didn't think time played a role in a place I thought to always be legit and cool with customers. I'm rating this at half because the smoothies they make there are still awesome, and any other workers there continue to do a great job. When the drink was handed to us, we were told it was allergen-free. Within 20 minutes of drinking it, my daughter experienced a severe allergic reaction. We had to administer an EpiPen and seek medical care. Afterward, I tasted the smoothie myself and it was clearly made with peanut. When we contacted the store, we were told they were aware of the incident and that a report had been filed, but there was little acknowledgment of the seriousness of what occurred. This was not a preference or dietary request--it was a clearly communicated, life-threatening allergy. This was not a minor mistake--this was a life-threatening situation that could have ended very differently. I am incredibly disappointed. What should have been a simple visit turned into a medical emergency. I hope this serves as a serious reminder of the responsibility that comes with preparing food for customers with allergies.
