This place has been around FOREVER. I cannot believe I'm the first person to review. The only reason I can think of is because of the stigma of being overweight - no one likes to call attention the fact that they need to lose weight, lol.
So . . . my first time here - I met with the actual world-reknowned JT Cooper. And he was just what you'd want / expect in a doctor. Kind, compassionate, excellent 'bedside' manner - patient - extremely talkative - and this is coming from a self-proclaimed chatty Kathy.
Dr. Cooper passed away a few years ago - a fact I did not discover until I was doing a Google search - trying to ascertain the current business hours because I could never seem to reach them by phone, but his website - www.dietdrtom.com - which is frequently inaccessible - says family members have taken over the practice.
I was looking to purchase a box of high protein, low carb, low sugar shake - something like Opti-Fast or Pro-Cal and I could have sworn they used to sell Opti-Fast, so I called several times and could never reach anyone (pretty sure I was calling outside their business hours). I eventually found myself riding down Powers Ferry Rd (leaving Microcenter) so I ventured into their business complex, but I was a little puzzled once I pulled into their parking lot because I could have sworn their suite had door facing the parking lot.
When I called - I found the older lady who answered the phone to be brusque, bordering on rude. Not only was she extremely snippy on the phone, but even when I told her I was sitting in my car in their parking lot and I would just walk around the building until I found the door - so I would be right in - she was MIA when I came in and took several MINUTES to appear. I should have just stolen the items I wanted and left. JUST KIDDING. FYI - turns out they don't actually sell Opti-Fast, just Pro-Cal and another brand of protein shake I'd never tried or heard of.
Hmmm. What else?
They are located in a very, very old, almost abandoned looking business park. You'll turn as though you're going to the Brazilian Bakery and just keep right heading towards the back, then make the first right turn. The interior of the lobby's office space is dark and it bit dated as well - but that's just an observation - not deleting stars for that.
5 stars for Dr. Cooper and the memory of this sweet, wonderful man. 0 stars for the rude woman manning the desk, the website that's always down, the wonky voicemail - averages out to 3 stars - which still means A-OK on Yelp. Hopefully others, will actual experiences with the new staff can pile on and share their experiences. read more
