After I had written the previous review, Jeff Stevens called me and was very apologetic for not getting back to me in a timely fashion. Apparently, he was called away for a family emergency and had not thought to cancel the appointment we had. He asked if I would allow him to come give an estimate and I agreed. He arrived promptly the next morning and I'm glad I agreed to it. He was very thorough in identifying needed repair work and his estimate was very competitive. I hired him to do the work and got a place on his schedule. They weren't able to start work on the day scheduled because significant rain for a few weeks in a row had put them behind. Once they started work it was a wonderful experience. His team was very experienced, diligent, and highly skilled. They did an excellent job. Excellent quality and completed project in a timely manner! The crew arrived on time every morning, took a short break for lunch and worked hard throughout the day to complete 7 complicated rooms and our bannister/handrails in 2.5 days. Clean edges, no sloppy work, protected our floors/furniture, with a skilled and courteous team. Highly recommended and we are in the construction industry. Will hire again for more work! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH J. STEVENS PAINTING IF YOU VALUE HONESTY, INTEGRITY OR QUALITY. Our project: 5200 sq ft house with a lot of crown and base molding in every room. J.Stevens contracted to paint moulding, walls and ceiling in all rooms. Painting of built-ins and pantry. The contract specified Emerald Brand Sherwin Williams paint on walls and Emerald Urethane Semi Gloss for all Molding. We got to the final day of a 12 day project, and discovered that all moldings had been sprayed with a much lower quality paint. The paint used was wall paint and not recommended for moldings per Sherwin Williams. We contacted Jeff Stevens to advise of the breech of contract. He proceeded to issue a litany of excuses on why they did not use the contracted paint for the moldings, built-ins and pantry. My impression was that this process of substitution of low quality materials without advising the customer is not new to the company. He was ready with all manner of evasion. If we had not discovered the deception, J. Stevens Painting would never have informed us of the issue. Once we challenged Jeff on the contract violation, he proposed several Band-aids in an attempt to mitigate the damage. However, we had lived in a house and accommodated their work for three weeks to find the job was not completed as contracted. His credibility was damaged. We are currently in the process of determining if the latex paint was applied over old base paint which will result in additional issues. NOT ONE TIME IN THE ENTIRE THREE WEEK PROJECT DID JEFF COME TO THE JOB SITE. In addition to the molding issue above, we had in excess of 10 areas where the painters tape removed the finish from our wood floors. There were a number of quality issues after the crew left. Save yourself the grief and find a quality/honest painter. J Stevens Painting is not that company. read more

They came out, gave me an estimate. I gave them the job. They set the date & time and NEVER SHOWED UP!! I had everything prepped and ready to go AND NO PAINTERS! I spoke with the owner only to find out they had booked another job in my place. He offered to do the job the next day--AND STILL NEVER SHOWED UP and never even bothered calling me back even though I called and left 2 messages for him!!! read more
