I originally went in for a couple of fillings, but the pain only got worse. After a month of ongoing discomfort, I returned and was given a 6-day course of steroids. When that didn't help, I was told I now needed a root canal--but the soonest appointment was nine days out, despite the fact that I was in severe pain. Because I couldn't wait that long, I made an appointment with an endodontist who could see me sooner. In the meantime, my pain escalated to the worst I've ever felt. I couldn't touch my tooth or eat. I had to undergo an emergency pulpotomy just to get temporary relief. The specialist performed an extensive exam with CT scans and X-rays and discovered an additional root and canal that my dentist had completely missed. Had the proper diagnostic work been done initially, it's likely I would never have needed a root canal at all. After the root canal, I still needed a crown. I scheduled it with Dental Care of Salem--but one hour before my appointment, the office called to inform me I would have to pay over $900 out of pocket because insurance would not cover any more work. No notice, no warning, just an unexpected bill due immediately. I canceled and spoke with the office manager, Amanda hoping they would acknowledge the situation and take responsibility for the mistake. Instead, they refused to reimburse anything or even consider comping the crown, despite the pain I'd been left in and the improper care that caused the need for additional treatment. Their response was essentially: "Sorry to see you go." The lack of patient care, accountability, and basic compassion from both Dr. Bollendorf and the office manager Amanda was shocking. They were indifferent to my severe pain, dismissive of their role in the problem, and completely unwilling to make it right. I would not recommend Dr. Bollendorf or Dental Care of Salem to anyone.

Spent over an hour there and finally saw the dentist and he said I have to have a deep cleaning before he will do anything else for 225.00. Never even talked about tooth i came in for. Let's suppose he brought his car into me for a broken fan belt, and i reviewed all repairs needed and made a list, but never fixed broken fan belt or even discussed it.. How would you feel then???

Jim, Your facts are correct. Your estimate was also 30K…read morehigher and you were given the opportunity to counter the estimate. Regardless, I am a dentist. If I kept patients deposits for treatment who decided to have it done cheaper elsewhere I guess you would feel that is fair to do. My business and personal ethics are hardly in question in this transaction. I work for a living and only expect to get paid if I actually do the work. As mentioned before, keeping 1200.00 of the 5K would have been fair, keeping it all is what makes you a poor business man. A simple test, ask your own family what they think about your decision if you have the courage.

Jim Andrews recently completed the build out of our new dental office. I chose Jim because of his…read morereputation and because I knew that building out a dental office is not the same as adding on a porch let alone renovating a kitchen or bathroom. It needs to be done by someone who is familiar with the specifics of dental office design and building codes. I didn't want someone's brother in law who could save a few bucks up front only to be faced with problems down the road. I checked on progress almost daily not only to see how things were coming along but also to check the quality of the work. Jim never disappointed. I noticed how all of the subcontractors were always on the same page as Jim, and seemed to know all the whats, whys and whens every step of the way. The office turned out beautifully, and our patients not only compliment but actually rave about our new space. I couldn't be happier. Many thanks to Jim and his staff for making this whole process easy.
