I initially booked one, then had to reschedule due to a work conflict--which I communicated clearly. He insisted I didn't need to be home, but I'm not about to let a stranger roam my property unsupervised. We attempted to reschedule twice more, but it wasn't aligning, so I canceled. Later, when our schedules eased up, I tried again. Within 12 hours of booking, I adjusted the appointment to Thursday of the same week--plenty of open slots were available, so I didn't expect it to be an issue. Apparently, it was. Cue the rude text messages. You're right: you run a business. And if you don't want mine, I'm more than happy to take it elsewhere. But if I'm spending over $500 to have my windows cleaned, I expect to choose a time that works for me--and to not be treated with hostility for doing so. Thanks again. I'll be sure to continue "recommending" your services accordingly. Unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. I can't speak to the quality of their service, but I can say the owner's behavior was shockingly disrespectful. Their website allows customers to schedule and adjust appointments, which I did--canceling one months ago and rescheduling again this week. When a mandatory training at my hospital conflicted with the new appointment, I immediately began rescheduling for a time that worked. Before I could finish, I received rude, accusatory texts from the owner questioning why I "keep canceling." If they don't want customers to use the self-scheduling feature, they shouldn't offer it. I was actively trying to rebook, not flake. The hostility was unwarranted and unprofessional. Even if their service is good, I won't support a business that treats customers this way--and I'll be sure others know to think twice.

About the company: I am a firm believer in time management,…read morecommunication, quality over quantity, supporting local business and professionalism. Those who read my reviews know my disposition about hard work, and "old school" businesses. M&J Painting exceeded and executed all expectations. Matt, the owner, educated me about the job, and how we, my family and I, could most benefit from doing one type of paint instead of the other. In addition, he gave out numerous of alternatives. What was the job? The job (to me) was complex, but the painters made it look like a breeze. I needed my kitchen island repainted because it was chipping at the bottom. Frankly, it was driving me nuts. Only one whole day of painting, then the next day they came back to put on the cabinets. Expertise about the job: This is the most important part of my review. I am not a painter, nor do I have a large understanding of the varieties of paint. I know my water paints from pre-k, and that is about it! Therefore, I have high expectations when I hire an individual within their field. The owner of M&J, Matt, appeared to have great wealth of knowledge in his area of expertise. He was able to articulate a variety of paints, and how the kitchen island would appeal visually by utilizing paint and the formality. He also educated us about different options. Matt also educated us about caring for the painted site for the next 14 days, and how to continue to receive maximum visual appealing island. Employee / Staff: Matt, the owner, set a firm base of communication prior to visiting the job site. He responded within hours of receiving a FB message. He went around my busy schedule to come give me a quote. He arrived on-time, and showed up for the job. He and his employee had all necessary tools to complete the job. More importantly, he and his employee appeared friendly and enjoyed his job. Cleanliness: I am a very particular person when it comes to contractors being clean and cleaning up after themselves during and after the job. That was not a problem for M&J! The employees were very clean, and cleaned up after themselves. They brought their own broom/dust pan/ and other tools to ensure the best possible cleanliness. During the job the workers were very careful and delicate with their surroundings. My kitchen looked like a scene off of Dexter, but I'm glad they put up as much painting plastic sheets as they did. Price: Paying and pricing out painting jobs is typically my husband's job. My initial reaction was off-put after receiving the quote. However, my reaction was based on lack of understanding within this field. I conducted research, and M&J's price appeared to be competitive within the Treasure Valley. In addition, after seeing their work, I was more than happy with the quote. References: Matt offered references from the beginning. I contacted both references, both highly recommended this company. Star rating:I typically do not give 5 stars. I am a firm believer that every company has the ability to improve in some way, but there are a few companies who deserve the five star. This is especially true when it comes to M&J Painting. They are phenomenal in all aspects. More importantly Would we ever go back? Absolutely. Probably will be hiring them for a paint job in the very near future. Star rating: I typically do not give 5 stars. Our experience with Allay during our insurance restoration has been extremely disappointing and has…read morecontinued to worsen even after our original review. Our claim began June 16. After mitigation, restoration was approved, and we paid Allay $12,851.63 on August 4 toward the restoration work. From that point forward, we experienced repeated delays, scheduling issues, poor communication, and concerns regarding the quality of the work being performed. Flooring was scheduled multiple times before it was finally completed around August 28- by completed I mean the wood flooring was laid but not sanded and finished. We experienced four scheduled appointments where the flooring work did not occur. We learned that these issues appeared to be related to Allay rather than the flooring company itself. The cabinetry became one of our biggest concerns. Our estimate included cabinet restoration, including removal/resetting, doors, drawer fronts, hardware, finish work, and rebuilding damaged cabinet boxes where necessary. However, the cabinets were returned to our home with significant damage, including chips, gouges, broken components, and areas of concern for mold and water swelling. They were reinstalled in our home despite these issues. After we raised concerns about the condition of the cabinets, Allay removed some of them from our home again. We terminated Allay's services the following day, so they were no longer authorized or expected to perform additional restoration work on them. Despite this, it took nearly a month for the cabinets to be returned to our possession. Once they were finally returned, we had them tested, and testing confirmed the presence of mold. This was especially concerning because these were the same cabinets that had previously been returned to our home and reinstalled following a water-loss claim. This is particularly concerning because this was a water-loss insurance claim, and we relied on a restoration company to appropriately address water-damaged materials--not potentially reintroduce affected materials into our home. There were also numerous other issues throughout the project, including repeated scheduling problems, work not being completed as represented, and our home being left with doors open/unlocked during a pickup after we had already experienced significant problems with the company. Even after terminating Allay's services, obtaining our cabinetry and resolving the financial portion of the project became another issue. We have also requested an appropriate accounting of the work actually completed against the $12,851.63 payment so that any overpayment/refund can be properly determined, they determined that the flooring (again only laid, not finished), rebuilding of one cabinet box and a couple footers (not the water damaged or moldy ones), a little bit of drywall, and insulation work totaled all but $160 of that amount. At this point, this has gone far beyond normal construction delays or minor workmanship concerns. We have spent a significant amount of time documenting damage, coordinating with our insurance company, obtaining testing, and trying to resolve issues involving work that should have been handled correctly the first time. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Allay for restoration work. I strongly encourage anyone using a restoration contractor to photograph their property thoroughly before removal, document all work performed, and independently verify concerns involving water damage or mold before restored materials are reinstalled in the home.
