I have been in Tennessee for 6 years now and several satisfying haircuts later, IT FINALLY LED TO OUR HAIRSTYLIST FOR LIFE!!! My teenage daughter and I have thick curly hair at different stages in life. Hers are young and bouncy and she needed to have a pixie cut BUT wanted to keep her curls alive. That's a difficult cut but he performed with ease. It's almost as if he read our minds! My daughter said she loved the experience because of how he cut her hair and respected her in conversation. He spoke to her like an adult not a child. I was up next with a modified faux hawk shaved sides (self cut YIKES). He corrected my mistakes without even touching how silly I looked. He didn't try to take advantage with upcharges like you face in large salons. I TRULY enjoyed the vibe of just YOUR salon professional without the distractions of everyone else's chaos. It was so much more enjoyable and you walk out feeling as if you built more than just a business relationship but potentially......a friend. I just came home from another perfect color treatment by Justinn. I get so used to him doing a great job that I forget to properly thank him. But isn't that what you want? A stylist who knows you well enough to just do a perfect job every time? Of course he is always willing to work out a change or something new. But sometimes you just need a constant in your life. I was in complete love! Not only did he impress me beyond expectation, but his work also lasted quite sometime! I loved that sunrise colored ombré so much, I HAD IT FOR A WHOLE YEAR WITHOUT TOUCH UPS! Ladies & Gents, if that ain't skill and quality, then I don't know what is! After that year, I ended up cheating on Justin. I know, the shame. When I learned Justin had gotten his own space, I went back to him in desperate need of a hair makeover to bring my curls back to life and looking healthy. AGAIN, HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. As much as I didn't want to, I asked him to dye my hair back to my natural black for professional reasons, but instead he suggested we compromise between my natural color and something fun yet conservative enough. Justinn is a hair miracle worker. I came to him by way of a referral from a friend. I'm almost a little afraid to tell you all just how amazing he is because once Nashville finds out his schedule is going to be NUTS. But at the same time, if my review can save one person from a crappy haircut, my good deed of the day is done. When I met Justinn my hair was ok. Just ok. Basic brown. Slightly inverted bob. Meh. Nothing to write home about. Then he performed a Christmas miracle in November and took my hair from basic to bombshell. He folded in a rich mahogany color and shaped my cut SO perfectly. It's like I'm Victoria Beckham minus the supermodel physique and oodles of cash. His place is super easy to get to in Brentwood located inside Sola. His prices are insanely reasonable especially considering the quality of work. He took the time to really consult with me to figure out what would work best for me and he nailed it. I have gotten at least one compliment on my hair every single day since I've had it done. He made my hair so vibrant and full of life! I moved to Nashville about a year ago and in that time I had visited three other salons before discovering Justinn. I first discovered him at Harlow, where I was wow'ed by my first haircut from him. It is so nice to finally get a "I love your hair cut !" from people vs. the "oh...you got your hair cut (womp womp)" after the previous local experiences. I was so pleased that I have continued to see him at his new location in Brentwood. A wonderful space and easily accessible ! And the responses to my latest haircut from him ? "Best haircut i've seen on you in five years !" No joke :) He knows what questions to ask and what direction to go in. I tend to use Yelp reviews as my guide when it comes to selecting hair salons, but wow, has Yelp failed me this time. :( This hair salon is basically a very small single room with a rusted sink and a very uncomfortable chair inside of a mall of various hair salons called "Sola Studios." When you walk in, you'll feel like you're walking into one of those dirty-feeling hair salons that you'll find next to a Sears in a dying mall. The stylist, Justin, doesn't seem very knowledgeable about color. I decided to try this place, because I was getting a very simple single-color done, and literally anyone could do this, so I didn't even think twice when I decided to stray from my usual place, Lucy Pop... but boy, was I wrong. I wanted to go from bleach blonde to light brown. Simple, right? I had a picture and even pointed to the hair color that I wanted on Justin's palette of colors. But Justin INSISTED that I get a darker color on his palette of colors, because the darker color was ACTUALLY light brown. This didn't make much sense in my head, but I trusted that he knew more about his own color palette than I did, so I went with it. I bet you can guess what happened.... the color came out very dark brown (almost black). And when he asked "how do you like it?" I had to be honest and said "this isn't even close to light brown." He argued with me that my hair color was indeed light brown. It was crazy! I couldn't tell if he was intentionally lying to me or if something was seriously wrong with his vision. But in response to my dissatisfaction, he eventually offered to STRIP my hair (!?!?), which is the worst thing that anyone could possibly do to someone who has my type of hair (i.e. I have very thin hair. Stripping would break it all off.). I was shocked! Justin is a very nice person, but man, his knowledge is severely lacking when it comes to hair color. I really wish someone would have written a review like this on Yelp and saved me from this huge mistake. Now, I'm stuck with almost-black hair for the holidays. :( read more
